Judgment Branch Office 177.

"The hacker is too skilled! My security system couldn't even hold him off for ten seconds!"

Uiharu Kazari's innocent face was filled with panic. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, but red error windows popped up faster than she could close them.

"This is terrible! The 'Bank' and the Management System have been completely compromised!"

"This is bad," Shirai Kuroko said, her expression grave. "Is there any way to find out what they're looking for?"

The "Bank" contained detailed personal information on every student in Academy City. If that leaked, it would be a disaster. But deeper than that lay the classified data of the Research Institutes.

"I can't stop him... but I can trace his path," Uiharu gritted her teeth. "He bypassed the student records. He entered the secondary network and is heading straight for a specific Research Institute's server."

"So he's after research data?" Kuroko frowned. "We need to notify Anti-Skill. This is beyond Judgment's jurisdiction."

Judgment handled student delinquents. High-level corporate espionage and hackers targeting classified labs were jobs for the adults in Anti-Skill.

...

District 7. Public Phone Booth.

"Hoh? Someone actually managed to block me for a few seconds."

Yuuya raised an eyebrow as he operated the connector.

"Tracing the source... Judgment Branch 177. It must be Uiharu Kazari."

Uiharu was a legend in the hacker world. Known as "The Keeper," she was the Guardian God of Academy City's network.

"Not bad. But against a System from a higher civilization... you're still using an abacus."

[Access Granted.]

He smashed through the final firewall.

Files regarding the Absolute Ability Evolution Project flooded his screen.

"Found it."

[Experiment 9985]

[Time: 20:30]

[Location: District 2. Container Storage Area.]

Yuuya checked the time on a nearby building's LED display.

20:17.

"Thirteen minutes left..."

He unplugged the connector.

Snap.

[Ability: Move Point]

He vanished.

...

District 2. Industrial Zone.

District 2 was the heart of Academy City's military-industrial complex. It was a landscape of concrete, steel, and heavy machinery. It served as the testing ground for explosives, weapons, and Anti-Skill training.

To keep the noise of war games from disturbing the rest of the city, the entire district was surrounded by massive soundproofing walls.

Inside the Container Storage Area, the silence was heavy.

A thin, white-haired boy walked casually across the concrete. He held a can of black coffee in one hand.

Crush.

He crumpled the empty can and tossed it aside. His red eyes were filled with murderous intent.

"That guy..."

Accelerator grinned, a chilling, jagged expression.

"I hope he shows up this time. If he does... I'll tear him into confetti."

He was pissed off.

Yesterday, some unknown weirdo appeared out of nowhere, spouted nonsense, and knocked him—the Strongest Level 5—unconscious.

It was absurd. It was impossible.

"He wants to rescue these dolls, right? Let's see him try."

Accelerator shoved his hands in his pockets. He exuded a terrifying aura, like a demon waiting to hatch.

He stopped.

Twenty meters away, a girl stood waiting. She looked exactly like the one he killed yesterday. And the day before.

"It is 20:28 PM," Misaka 9985 said expressionlessly, checking her watch. She held a submachine gun that looked like a toy in her hands.

"DO, Misaka announces: The 9985th Experiment will begin in two minutes. Subject Accelerator, please prepare."

"Tch."

Accelerator clicked his tongue.

"No matter how many times I kill you, you don't learn. You're just broken tape recorders."

He looked around the empty container yard.

"But today is different. That 'Hero' might show up."

"Hero?" 9985 tilted her head.

"Yeah. That guy from yesterday. He acted like some kind of Prince Charming saving a Princess. It's disgusting. Fairy tales make me want to vomit."

Accelerator's grin widened.

"But if he does come... I'll show him that in the real world, the Hero gets crushed."

"Countdown: 10, 9, 8..." Misaka 9985 began.

Accelerator raised a hand to scratch his ear, bored.

"Come on. Come out."

Zip.

Accelerator's pupils contracted.

The Misaka Sister in front of him vanished.

"Hah?"

He quickly scanned the area.

"Teleportation? Moving a human body?"

500 Meters Away. Rooftop.

Zip.

Yuuya materialized on a water tower. Next to him was Misaka 9985.

"DO, Misaka exclaims in panic: Misaka has been abducted by Mr. Takahashi!"

"Quiet."

Yuuya pulled a pair of handcuffs from his inventory.

Click. Click.

He cuffed her wrists to the metal railing of the water tower.

"Alright. Now you can't run into the line of fire."

Yuuya clapped his hands, satisfied with his masterpiece.

"Just wait here obediently. Don't try to join the fight."

"DO, Misaka questions the necessity of restraints..."

Snap.

Yuuya ignored her and vanished again.

Ground Zero.

Zip.

Yuuya reappeared exactly twenty meters in front of Accelerator.

He stood casually, hands in his pockets, facing the white monster.

"Yo, Accelerator."

Yuuya smirked, his eyes glinting with challenge.

"We meet again. How's your head? The concussion I gave you yesterday should still be healing."
