The next morning, Travis woke up feeling noticeably better, able to sit up and move his body without sharp pain. He stepped out of the hut with heavy steps, welcoming the fresh air and warm sunlight.
As he sat on a tree trunk near the healers' hut, a little girl with long brown hair and curious eyes approached him.
She smiled at him enthusiastically and said, "You're the brave man who defeated the monster, aren't you?"
When he saw her, he froze for a moment, his eyes widening in slight shock, but he quickly regained his composure.
The little girl asked innocently, "What's wrong?"
He smiled faintly and said, "It's nothing… someone else helped us defeat it."
The girl laughed proudly and said, "I'm Capella, Chief Kyle's granddaughter."
Then she sat beside him and began showering him with questions so quickly that she gave him no chance to respond: "What did the monster look like up close? Were you scared? How did you fight it? Did you use that weapon? Where did you get it? Have you met other monsters on your travels? What is the world outside the island like? Are there other islands like ours?"
Travis raised his hand, laughing, and said, "Wait, let me answer at least one!"
At that moment, Hamza and Basil noticed Travis sitting under the tree, so they headed toward him to check on him.
Basil placed his hand on Travis's shoulder and said, "You seem fine now. How do you feel?"
Travis replied with a slight smile, "Much better." Then he gestured toward Capella and added, "I've met Chief Kyle's granddaughter."
Capella looked at Hamza and Basil with a smile, then said excitedly, "Since you're new here, why don't I take you on a tour around the island? There are wonderful places you should see!"
The three exchanged quick glances, then Basil said, "Why not? It would be good to get to know the place better."
Capella began leading them across the island, telling them details about the plants and animals there. As they walked, she stopped them by enormous trees and pointed to their roots stretching everywhere, saying, "These are called banyan trees. Their roots can extend for long distances, which is why they're sometimes used to make natural bridges over rivers!"
Then she led them to another place where massive rocks stood in strange shapes and said, "These rocks were formed by wind and rain over thousands of years."
While they were listening to Capella, one of the tribesmen approached them and said, "Chief Kyle requests your presence immediately."
Travis looked at them, then said, "You go ahead. I'll join you shortly."
Hamza and Basil nodded and left with the man, while Capella stayed with Travis.
After they walked away, Capella pointed to a tall tree bearing bright red fruit and said excitedly, "Look, this is the 'Mirazia' fruit. It's one of the rarest fruits on the island!"
Travis looked at the hanging fruit. It was bright red, with smooth skin and a slight sheen, giving off a pleasant fragrant scent.
Capella said eagerly, "This fruit only grows in the humid areas of the island. We love it very much. It gives us energy during long hunting trips!"
Then she looked at him with a smile full of challenge and said, "Wait here."
She leaped with remarkable agility and climbed the tree quickly, gripping the branches skillfully.
Travis watched her in amazement and said, "You're really reckless."
Capella laughed as she sat on one of the branches, then picked two Mirazia fruits and tossed one to Travis. She said, "Try it, you'll like it!"
Travis took the fruit and turned it between his fingers for a moment before taking a small bite. The flavor burst in his mouth—a blend of mango sweetness and berry taste with a light tangy touch—making him widen his eyes in astonishment.
"Amazing… I didn't expect it to be this good."
Capella laughed as she bit into her fruit.
Travis looked at her, then smiled and said in a calm voice, "You're like her."
Capella stopped eating and looked at him in confusion.
"What do you mean? Who do I look like?"
Travis pulled a small locket from his pocket, opened it, and held it out toward Capella. "Look."
She examined the picture inside the locket and found a little girl who looked exactly like her. Beside her was another picture of Travis standing next to another young man.
Travis said quietly, "This is my little sister, and the person in the other picture is my older brother."
Capella's eyes widened in surprise as she looked at him and said, "You're right… she does look like me!"
Travis looked at the locket, then closed it and sighed.
"She was like you… reckless, full of questions, and never stopped talking."
Capella smiled and said, "I want to meet them… why didn't you bring them with you?"
Travis's expression darkened slightly, and he said in a voice heavy with sorrow,
"They passed away."
Capella lowered her head, then asked softly, "How did it happen?"
Travis answered in a voice weighed down by memories, "My little sister was afflicted with a rare disease known as wasting, and there was no available cure. We did everything we could… but she passed away at a young age."
He fell silent for a moment before continuing, "As for my older brother, he was killed during a clash with a group of criminals… he was trying to protect me."
Capella suddenly embraced him tightly and said in a warm voice,
"I'm sorry."
Travis stopped speaking and closed his eyes for a moment, letting the silence fill the space, while Capella remained holding him, trying to ease some of his deep sorrow.
