Uru Hong Jing's lips were quivering as he muttered unwillingly.
"Please…Take a good…Look." He sent a list containing a lot of Immortal Gu.
Of course, such a list only carried the newly gained Immortal Gu that his grandfather had given him, containing only Rank 6 Gu Worms. Even then, several Gu were skipped as they were far too important.
Even so.
Kao Dao Ji's breathing went heavy as he observed the list.
Black Gu, White Gu, Grey Gu, Blue Gu, Red Gu, and so on…
There were also several numerical Gu, albeit the set was complete, he only had, 3,7, 23, 67…
Kao Dao Ji squinted upon hearing the last Gu, before he scrolled past it.
Apart from such sets, he also had disorganized Gu like 'Contort', 'Distort', 'Pragmatic', 'Union', 'Disjunction', 'Axiom', 'Conjunction', 'Dispersion', 'Very', 'Pale…'
Kao Dao Ji stared at the series of Gu's, whilst he was interested in most. There was one he could simply not ignore.
'Union.'
"Union is a rather simple Gu; its main effect is that it can unify several streams, waves, and the like in a singular move.
I could, for example, concentrate my wide-range Rain in a single concentrated stream to blow anything away.
Besides…That Gu could be useful to help me master Yin-Yang." Without further ado, he asked for the Gu.
Uru Hong Jing unwillingly dragged his hand towards him.
As Kao Dao Ji saw the Gu, his face could not help but twitch.
The Gu looked like a massive 'U', printed in a three-dimensional way.
It had a shape akin to how a magnet was commonly depicted, the light around the Gu distorted ever so lightly.
As if the Gu was pulling the surrounding light onto itself, specifically towards its mouth.
The middle point.
Also, whilst very hard to see at the top of each tail in the U, there were a pair of tiny eyes like those of a spider, and it also had an incision at its lower body.
Kao Dao Ji curiously summoned a tiny worm in that area, and his expression changed as he saw how the worm was rapidly devoured and turned into paste.
Before turning into a red light and vanishing completely from sight.
Not so surprisingly, the incision on the body of the Gu acted as its mouth and also its stomach, from which it could continuously devour materials to sustain itself.
He then turned a glance to whatever Gu Le Tu had chosen.
Le Tu grinned as he picked the Gu 'Green.'
Kao Dao Ji raised his eyebrows before realizing.
"Green is associated with nature and also healing. He must have wanted to improve on those methods; then again, that is not his real weakness." Of course, he knew it was a lost cause to try to convince him. So, he let him off the hook.
Uru Hong Jing observed the scene of the two taking away his precious Gu Worm, and his heart began to bleed.
Yet he sighed helplessly. For the worst part was yet to come.
Suddenly, Le Tu and Kao Dao Ji widened their eyes as they received the same message from their Wills.
"Are you crazy?" They said in unison.
Just as the transaction finalized, Uru Hong Jing's Will did something even crazier as he put on sale the priceless 'AM' Gu in TYH.
Uru Hong Jing snorted coldly.
"Do you think I would sell the Gu if I had any other choice?" He touched his forehead and sighed helplessly.
"How am I supposed to get the resources in my aperture to sustain so many Immortal Gu's otherwise?" His expression looked helpless. Uru Tan He had kept his Gu well fed and had ample food to spoil them endlessly.
Unfortunately, Uru Tan He did not have the time to share the resources needed to feed them. His position was already precarious; to sustain his final Killer Move was already extremely difficult, let alone finding the energy to transfer millions of tons of precious food to feed all the Gu.
He barely mustered the power to send away his Immortal Gu before perishing.
Of course, Uru Tan He must have considered this, but likely assumed that Uru Hong Jing could simply join a random organization in exchange for food for the Gu.
After all, there was still time. Even now, his Gu could last for a long time without dying.
Yet. He was currently stranded in an area full of enemies from humanity.
Furthermore.
He squinted his eyes, staring at Kao Dao Ji, whilst he hid it well, he could perceive the greed in his heart. If Le Tu were not here, and if he did not have several Rank 7 Gu's in his hands, who knew what he would do?
So just in case, if the situation grew urgent, he needed to have enough energy to actually use them.
Furthermore. He also had to act quickly, if he waited until his Gu got too hungry and there was an unexpected mishap.
Such as a collective action in TYH. To sabotage and low-ball his prices. Well, he would take a very bitter loss. So his best choice was to cut his losses.
(Besides it was not as if he could currently make use of the Gu anyway.)
…
Uru Hong Jing, or at least his Will, stood before a crowd, with his arms crossed.
"For the remaining 25 days, I will put 'Am' Gu on sale. Whoever is interested can name their price; whoever bids the most at the end, will receive the Gu.
I will only be accepting Immortal Essence Stones, for the most part, though you can also compensate using rare materials that can raise an aperture's rank, or increase the amount of Dao Marks of Rule Path.
At the beginning of the bid, I will put a price of a million Immortal Essence Stones; those who are interested may buy, those who do not scram."
Uru Hong Jing spoke calmly and confidently, as he followed the script his ancestor had already arranged.
Several Immortals who were nearby clicked their tongues as they saw the commotion.
Many forces began to deduce about him.
However.
Uru Hong Jing took a deep breath.
From his Aperture, he summoned a Gu
The Gu looked like an ordinary pebble that one would easily find in the streets, utterly unremarkable.
The only odd thing was that it was filled with cracks, as hardened dirt would.
More than that, if one paid attention, one could see that the Gu was beating like a heart, but it did so at a very slow pace.
Taking over ten seconds to beat just once, moreover, it did so silently.
If one was not paying attention, it was very easy to miss it.
And that was for the sharp eyes of Immortals; ordinary people could only perceive its beat if they touched it directly.
Kao Dao Ji and Le Tu used a Killer Move to observe that pebble as they were curious, yet their guards were raised to the limit.
As they realized the Gu emitted a subtle Rank 7 aura.
Uru Hong Jing smiled at the duo.
"Relax. This Gu. It cannot threaten you in the slightest. After all," His smile turned bitter.
"This Gu is just mediocrity given shape." He sighed.
The effect of Mediocrity was rather simple; upon activation, the Gu would produce an aura of 'ordinariness', or 'mediocrity', around its user.
People who stared at the person who used the Gu would hardly notice them, and deducing regarding them also became nightmarishly difficult.
It even protected the Immortal from the sights of the Heavens, greatly weakening the might of Tribulations.
Unfortunately, it also held several flaws.
Whilst it diminished the power of Tribulations, it also diminished the amount of Dao Marks gained.
Furthermore, whilst the Gu remained active, the Gu Master would only be able to exert half of their strength.
Their minds and bodies are continuously suppressed.
Furthermore, whilst Mediocrity required very few amounts of Immortal Essence to work, sustaining it became rather expensive in the long run.
Yet another reason why he needed to sell that Immortal Gu.
Still. Despite those flaws, it was almost the perfect Gu for Uru Hong Jing's situation.
Especially because Mediocrity Gu was a Gu very easy to satiate.
Unlike most Gu who were picky with what they ate, Mediocrity could be fed almost anything, even the shit of a desolated beast could serve as its food.
Still.
That is not what interested the duo, but rather.
"The Ordinary Abyss…" Kao Dao Ji muttered.
Before shaking his head.
He turned his head towards Le Tu and asked.
"Hey, Le Tu. I have some doubts regarding Yin-Yang Manipulation. Could you explain it to me?"
Le Tu suddenly raised his eyebrows.
"Ah? Ah, yes, of course." He nodded hurriedly as he woke up from his thoughts.
…
…
…
Several days later.
Kao Dao Ji was sitting.
He pressed his palms together, and from them a cloud rapidly took shape.
"Here comes the difficult part." White particles that looked like a million suns appeared from both of his hands.
Releasing a beautiful white-golden aurora.
Then, those particles joined together in the same pattern, and they began to spiral together, circling the clouds and slowly integrating onto them.
As this happened.
The golden particles adhered, and from the clouds, one could see golden sparkles being emitted.
As the seconds went by, those few streaks of light began to appear more and more abundantly, until the clouds became golden and began to shine like the morning sun.
It was boilingly hot.
Yet.
Kao Dao Ji gulped.
His hands trembled, as he was unable to keep his composure and then-
The overwhelming pressure brews a tide.
The pressure released itself in all directions, exploding like a grenade, colliding directly with Kao Dao Ji's body.
Kao Dao Ji's body fell to the ground; he was gasping heavily.
Burning marks could be seen in his skin, and the stench of burnt meat could be smelled.
From a distance, Uru Hong Jing stared at Kao Dao Ji whilst wondering.
"I heard humans tasted like pork, but do Featherman taste like chicken?" He rubbed his chin.
Of course, he would not ask for a bite or anything; it was just curiosity.
At the same time.
"I failed again…" Kao Dao Ji sighed bitterly as he stared at his burning hands. He used several Gu to heal his body.
"Hey. Do not beat yourself up. You are learning very quickly." Le Tu touched his shoulder as he said those words.
But Kao Dao Ji did not feel relieved in the slightest; on the contrary, he bluntly asked.
"Hah…Is that so? Then, am I learning as quickly as you did?"
"huh…" Le Tu stared at him awkwardly.
"Thought so." Kao Dao Ji muttered in annoyance before summoning the cloud and trying yet again.
