Chapter 153 - 153: The Bargain

"Hulk is very angry!"

Natasha's calm voice echoed across the rooftop. From the distance, Hulk responded with a low growl, but the massive bulges on his back slowly shrank. His four armed form faded as he calmed down.

Seeing Hulk revert, Axel raised his thumb toward Natasha in admiration.

"That's exactly what I wanted to see, great teacher. After I finish what I'm doing, you should teach me how to calm down too."

Natasha finally snapped and flipped him off.

"What the hell are you even thinking?!"

Before she could say anything else, Axel vanished and reappeared in front of Hulk. His leg shot forward in a brutal kick that slammed into Hulk's chest.

The impact forced Hulk to stumble back two steps, but the green giant immediately grabbed Axel's leg.

"He's mine!"

Thor's voice roared across the sky as he flew back toward Stark Tower from outside New York.

Despite his claim, Thor was actually curious to see what would happen next. He remembered very well what Hulk had done to Loki.

Thor landed on Stark Tower's rooftop and looked forward to seeing Axel smashed into the ground.

But suddenly Axel flickered and appeared right in front of him.

Thor blinked in surprise.

"You… damn it, you can still teleport even while caught… oh!"

Boom.

Axel's fist crashed straight into Thor's face.

Without slowing down, Axel grabbed Thor by the arm and hurled him directly toward the enraged Hulk.

While Thor flew through the air toward Hulk, Axel vanished again and appeared behind Natasha.

He casually grabbed her and tossed her off the side of the building.

Natasha struggled as she plummeted toward the street below.

Just before she could hit the ground, Axel appeared beside her in midair and caught her.

He laughed lightly.

"Let Thor and Hulk play by themselves. We can go somewhere else and play something more interesting."

"Are you seriously thinking about playing right now?"

Natasha forced down her shock, twisted out of his arms, and landed on the pavement. She immediately stepped back, eyes locked on Axel.

"Guess what my boss just said through my earpiece?"

She spoke quickly.

"A nuclear missile is heading straight for Manhattan. I swear that just happened. Compared to Thor and Hulk, that missile is the biggest problem we have right now."

Axel rolled his eyes.

"The portal is already closed. Why the hell would someone still fire a nuke at us? Are you sure your boss isn't trying to cash in on your life insurance?"

Natasha ignored the joke.

"You can ask Nick Fury that yourself after we survive this. The missile will reach Manhattan in less than two minutes. If you want to help, then help. If not, let me go so I can try to stop it somehow."

As soon as she finished speaking, Natasha sprinted away and jumped onto a nearby Chitauri aircraft.

Axel watched her leave and grinned.

"Then why can't I go talk to your boss right now?"

In the next moment, he vanished.

Natasha froze.

After staring at the empty space where Axel had been, she immediately shouted into the communicator.

"Damn it, Fury, he actually went to find you!"

"I don't see him. Maybe his teleportation has a distance limit… wait, I see him."

On the deck of the Helicarrier, Axel appeared instantly in front of Nick Fury and Maria Hill.

Both of them stood there holding rocket launchers, staring helplessly at the jet that had already launched the nuclear missile.

Hill immediately drew her pistol and aimed it at Axel.

Nick Fury studied him calmly.

"I didn't expect you to appear in front of me like that."

Axel smirked.

"There's a lot you didn't expect, Fury."

He pointed upward toward the sky.

"When I tried to teleport to you just now, I accidentally appeared on a space station near the moon. And guess what I saw? Another version of you, and a damn Flerken."

Axel laughed.

"I even crawled out of the Flerken's stomach. Bet you didn't see that coming."

Before Fury could react, Axel grabbed his neck.

With a sudden violent pull, Axel tore Fury's head clean off.

The body collapsed instantly. As it hit the ground, the skin shifted, revealing a Skrull.

"Director!"

Hill fired several shots at Axel in fury.

The bullets struck his chest and dropped harmlessly to the ground.

Axel stepped forward and gently tapped her shoulder.

"Relax. Your director isn't dead. That was just a decoy."

He leaned closer and spoke calmly.

"But if you keep shooting at me, I promise the real Fury will die in a much worse way."

Axel grabbed Hill's cheek with one hand and took her pistol with the other. The metal weapon crumpled into a small ball in his grip.

He studied her face for a moment, then suddenly let her go.

Axel clapped slowly.

"Not bad. Maria Hill, right? I just realized something. Your attitude is impressive."

Hill glared at him.

"Who are you, and what exactly do you want?"

Axel shrugged.

"Funny thing. Everyone asks those same two questions the first time they meet me."

He grinned.

"My name is Axel. Axel of Downton Manor."

He spread his hands.

"As for what I want, why does there have to be a plan? Sometimes it's more fun to just do whatever comes to mind."

Axel motioned for Hill to come closer.

"Your situation right now is terrible."

He continued casually.

"That missile will reach Manhattan in less than two minutes. Meanwhile your heroes are busy."

"Tony Stark is changing armor. Thor is getting beaten around by Hulk."

Axel paused.

"Actually, let me confirm that."

He disappeared briefly.

When he returned seconds later, he nodded.

"Yep. Thor and Hulk are smashing their way from Manhattan toward Queens."

He chuckled.

"And Stark? I already ripped off the armor he was wearing. Then I destroyed every other suit in his workshop. Even his old Mark I is gone."

Axel crossed his arms.

"So your three strongest heroes are out of the picture."

He shrugged.

"That leaves Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. No offense, but you don't seriously expect them to punch a nuclear missile, right?"

Hill stayed silent.

Axel tapped his chest.

"So here's my suggestion. What about me?"

He smiled.

"Do you think I can handle that missile? I'm pretty damn strong."

He leaned forward slightly.

"So… are you going to beg me?"

Hill answered immediately.

"Yes."

Axel raised an eyebrow.

"If begging you means saving Manhattan, then I'll do it."

She stared straight at him.

"But you obviously want something in return."

Axel nodded with satisfaction.

"Of course I do."

He pointed at her.

"How about this. Give me a look."

Hill frowned.

"A look?"

Axel shrugged casually.

"Yeah. Right here."

He gestured at her chest.

"Let me enjoy the view for a second, and I'll deal with the nuclear missile."

Hill's expression hardened.

"You heard me. Kneel."

For a moment she stood completely still.

Then she slowly dropped to her knees.

Hill unbuttoned her jacket and lifted her shirt.

After a brief pause, she unclipped her bra as well.

Axel nodded with satisfaction.

Hill's voice remained cold.

"Is that enough?"

Axel laughed.

"What else do you expect? Two minutes isn't exactly a lot of time."

He stepped forward and pulled her shirt back down.

Then he ruffled her hair.

"Thanks for the entertainment."

Axel turned toward the sky.

"I'll go take care of the missile now."

He added casually.

"By the way, clean your face before I get back."

Axel suddenly slapped her chest lightly, then disappeared.

A moment later, he reappeared far above the clouds.

Axel sat down comfortably on top of the speeding nuclear missile as it rushed toward Manhattan.

"Now this," he muttered with a grin, "is a fun seat."
