Chapter 8 - Prologue (Part 8): Younger/Older Sister

Knowing that pushing someone, whether they want to or not, towards doing something uncharacteristic could lead to whiplash the next day wasn't the only reason (Asm)Odeus had left his Professor, Olivia Del Rey.

The second reason was that he could sense someone with hostile intent towards him. Someone quite powerful.

'Whoever it is, they're still far from here,' Odeus thought as he approached the Academy's fortified walls. 'I'll have to take a detour on my way home.'

Massive mechanical doors slid as he showed his student ID and, as he walked past them, the third reason for his leaving appeared.

"Aaaaaasmooodeusssss!!"

The sweet voice shouting made the corner of his lips curl, and he took half a step to the right.

"Oh, yey! You caught me!"

She had jumped from who knows where and landed on him perfectly, one thigh on each of his shoulders.

"I told you already," He muttered with a reprimanding tone. "It's Odeus while we're out here." He raised her chin momentarily to meet her gaze. "Alright?"

She had the widest smile on her face while his hands rested around her ankles.

"Oh, come on." That didn't keep her from swinging her feet one bit. "Why shouldn't I call my younger brother by his real name?"

"I'm not your younger brother."

"Agh… You might tell that to the Humans, but come on. I'm not letting them get between me and my dear little brother!"

Odeus pursed his lips, looked away, and started walking again.

His 'Sister' was as difficult as it gets. The more you fight, the more she'll fight back.

'The very fact that she forced her way into the Academy is proof enough…' Odeus sighed.

She was the perfect contrarian.

'The perfect brat, I'd say.'

As if reading his thoughts,

"No way in hell am I getting people to call me Sophia either." She muttered while pulling on her lower eyelid after jumping off his shoulders and landing on the ground. "The name is Saphyra, Sa-Phy-Ra!"

"What does it matter? They're only Humans anyway." Odeus shrugged. "Why are you being so difficult?"

"Exactly! They're only Humans." Saphyra explained, hand to her chest. "So why shouldn't I be so difficult? It's like saying that… Hey! Wait for me!"

Odeus had started walking, skipping the monologue she was about to embark on.

"So why are you late anyway?" Saphyra asked after catching up and walking past him. "Making your older sister wait… Tsk, tsk."

Odeus couldn't keep his eyes from wandering.

"Trying to seduce your Professors or something?" He asked.

Different uniform styles were provided by the Altreim Magic Academy.

Female students could get a variety of uniforms ranging from pants to skirts, and even skirts had varying lengths.

None of the available uniforms were as short as Saphyra's, though.

"Like what you're seeing?" She asked cheekily, each step making the fabric flutter and giving a glimpse at her underbutt.

Saphyra was walking while holding her high pigtails in the air, a haircut she had immediately fallen in love with upon entering the Human Realm.

With her hair usually reaching all the way and beyond her butt, it was an underappreciated asset she felt wasn't shown off often enough.

"I cut it before seeing you," Saphyra winked. "Can't let Humans catch a glimpse."

"Right…"

"So? Why so late?" She asked again, joining Odeus' side.

'Shit…' He cursed internally as Saphyra's arm brushed his.

Sniff-

Sniff- Sniff-

"Oh…" Her gaze moved down his body with a cheeky smile. "Someone left you high and dry, huh?"

"It happens."

"I hope it doesn't happen too often," Saphyra whispered with puppy eyes. "Though if it does…" Her index finger and thumb curled around her tongue as she winked. "I can help you with that."

"Heh." Odeus chuckled. "I'm not sure you have the balls to do that anymore."

"Ugh, I know! It's so annoying how we ALL have to stay in close proximity all the time!" Saphyra sighed. "Your mother would kill me if she heard."

"So now it's my mother, huh? I thought you were my older sister."

"Well, I am like a daughter to your mother, aren't I?"

"Yeah, yeah. Be a nice younger sister if you don't want to get in trouble then, Sophia."

"..." Sophia pursed her lips and sighed. "If I have to."

It didn't take more than ten seconds for the silence to bother her.

"You're quiet." She whispered. "What's up?"

"Nothing."

"No, seriously."

"Nothing, seriously."

Saphyra suddenly stopped and grabbed Odeus' arm.

"Seriously?" She asked. "Seriously, seriously?"

"What? What are you talking about?" He couldn't help but crack a smile. His 'Sister' knew him too well.

"You found it! You found it, didn't you?"

"Found what?"

"The whole reason we're here!"

Odeus remained silent for a moment. Playing dumb with Saphyra never worked, nor did keeping secrets from her.

"Yeah, I found it."

"So soon?!"

"A Professor of mine was happy enough to give me a tour of the library… And happy enough to tell me what's below the Academy."

"Oh, hell yeah!" Saphyra jumped into the air. "When are we stealing it?"

"We aren't." Odeus corrected. "I already have a plan, don't worry about it."

"Hmm… Well, if you say so. Your plans surprisingly never fail, even when they're as insane as going into the Human Realm." Saphyra muttered as she looked around. "Not that I don't enjoy the scenic route," Her hand brushed over her tanned skin. "But why are we going through the abandoned coliseum?"

"They used to hold competitions here," Odeus explained. "The magical kind, where people could go wild."

"What other kind of competition is there? Also, that doesn't answer my question-" Saphyra's eyes narrowed at once. "Did you notice we were being followed? I mean… When did you?"

"Early, despite you trying to distract me with your… Well, everything."

"What now?" Saphyra asked.

Despite her petite figure and the fact that she was physically weaker than her sisters, aunt, or mother, Saphyra was always ready to fight.

Odeus liked that about her a lot.

"Hide." He said, hand tapping the top of her head. "I'll need you for later."

"You sure? I mean… I can help." Saphyra scratched her chin.

The enemy approaching hadn't entered the coliseum just yet, but Saphyra could get a read on his Ether Level.

"Protecting your younger brother? How cute. Could almost mistake us for real siblings."

"Well, real siblings don't do… What we do."

"Hide, now."

"Nahaha! Alright, alright."

The petite Succubus' tanned skin glowed for a moment.

Swoosh-

'I really need to learn that at some point.' Odeus thought to himself as he walked, back facing the coliseum's entrance. 'Invisibility is a useful trick.'

The whispers became distinct once he reached the centre of the coliseum.

"That's the bastard who's trying to steal my…? Is that him?!"

"Y-Yes! Yes, it's him!" Jack shouted, both scared and weirded out. 'What do you mean your…?!'

Odeus turned towards the two approaching.

He squinted, hand above his eyes.

"Oh." Odeus pointed. "You look just like my date tonight. Well," He brought a hand to his chin. "If she stayed up for two weeks straight and had cancer."

"YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!!"

'MURDER SO QUICKLY?!' Jack gulped, cold sweat soaking his back at once. 'Hell nah, I'm getting out of here!'
