Mundo saw the group surging toward him and his eyes lit up with a vacant, joyous light.
"Oh, patients! Line up for check-up!"
He flicked his wrist, sending an Infected Bonesaw (Q) whistling toward Chen's head. Having already tasted that blade once, Chen was ready. He performed a desperate roll to the right, the saw clattering against the stone behind him.
Chen lunged back in, his Turbo Chemtank emitting a frost-laden shockwave that slowed Mundo's massive feet to a crawl. Chen landed a solid strike on Mundo's jaw, proccing a Vital and gaining a temporary shield.
Mundo didn't flinch. He pulled a second cleaver from the folds of his tattered coat and brought it down.
"COUNTER STRIKE!"
Chen spun his streetlamp, the iron shaft clanging against the cleaver as he absorbed the blow. Vi didn't miss the opening. She charged her gauntlets and let out a Vault Breaker (Q), slamming into Mundo's midsection with the force of a battering ram. She followed up with two Relentless Force (E) punches, blue shockwaves tearing through Mundo's torso.
Mundo roared, swinging for Vi, but Chen ended his spin, the concussive blast of the Counter Strike stunning the giant in place. Caitlyn and Jinx didn't hesitate, unleashing a hail of lead into Mundo's chest.
Suddenly, a wire hissed through the air. Camille launched herself from a nearby clocktower, her grappling hooks retracting as she delivered a precision kick to Mundo's upper spine. Before he could recover, she drew her twin short blades and slashed at his neck.
"Seriously, it's Attack on Camille, isn't it?" Chen thought, watching her move with lethal grace.
The blades left deep gashes, but Mundo's hide was like cured leather reinforced by chemicals. Camille landed another flurry, but even her steel couldn't find the bone.
"I still underestimated this monster," Camille muttered, flipping backward as Jayce arrived.
Jayce didn't play it safe. He leaped into the air—To the Skies! (Q)—and slammed his Mercury Hammer into Mundo's head. He immediately followed with a Thundering Blow (E), the massive hammer glowing with Hextech lightning as it sent the three-meter giant flying backward several meters.
Mundo scrambled up, his purple face contorting. "Being a doctor is so hard! Everyone yells at you!"
He tried to charge, but his foot snapped into a jagged iron trap. Caitlyn's Yordle Snap Trap (W) had predicted his landing perfectly. She followed up with a Headshot that snapped Mundo's head back.
Finally, the Hextech Mechanical Beetle arrived.
The beetle hummed, its crystal core projecting a Vanguard Shield over Chen. It lunged at Mundo, its mandibles clicking as it forced the giant into a Taunt. Mundo, his mind shattered by chemicals, focused all his rage on the iron insect, hacking at its shell.
"Fire the cannon!" Chen screamed.
Jayce switched to Mercury Cannon form and fired an Acceleration Gate (E). He shot a Shock Blast (Q) through the gate; the projectile accelerated to Mach speed, hitting Mundo with a thunderous electromagnetic explosion that scorched half of the monster's body.
Chen used the gate's speed boost to sprint behind Mundo, hitting three Vitals in a blur of movement. Camille dived in again, her blades glowing as she severed Mundo's scorched right arm at the shoulder. Vi finished the combo with a Relentless Force punch that sent Mundo crashing to the pavement.
CLANG.
The giant lay still.
"Phew... finally got him," Vi panted, wiping grease from her brow. Cheers erupted from the Enforcers.
But Chen didn't cheer. He watched the "corpse." Within seconds, the wounds hissed. The purple muscles began to knit together. The severed arm on the ground actually began to crawl back toward the body.
Camille kicked the arm away, her eyes cold. "He's regenerating."
Mundo's eyes snapped open. He stood up, his arm regrowing at a visible, terrifying speed.
Maximum Dosage (R) Re-Activated.
"Damn it! He's as tough as mud!" Chen shouted. He looked up at the Hexgate, where Silco was watching. He knew they couldn't win a war of attrition. "We can't kill him! We have to contain him!"
"Think... how do you stop a creature that won't die?" Chen's mind raced. "The sea! If he's in the middle of the ocean, he's just a very angry buoy!"
He turned to Caitlyn. "Clear a path to the Pilt river! We're kiting him to the docks!"
Caitlyn understood instantly. She began barked orders to the Enforcers to form a corridor. Chen commanded the Beetle to lead the way, using it as a disposable meat-shield.
They fought a retreating battle, lure-and-strike, lure-and-strike. With Seraphine's song providing a constant movement speed buff, they stayed just out of reach of Mundo's saw.
On the Hexgate, Silco's expression darkened. "They're leading him away. We cannot lose our primary distraction."
He turned to Sevika. "Deploy the Shimmer Warriors. Intercept them before they reach the water. For the great cause of Zaun, this city must fall today."
