Starlight Management, West Hollywood.
"Oh my god, it's over? That's it?!"
Della Rose stared at her massive home theater screen, now filled with a flurry of "Dog Director" and "Release the next one!" comments. She felt completely numb.
So, this was how the director wanted to play it? Gojo Satoru was just about to pull down that blindfold, ready to unleash hell, and they just... stopped?
"Still three more days until the next drop," Julian Cross muttered, his face long and miserable.
The room fell into a grim silence. Three days. In the era of instant gratification, seventy-two hours felt like a prison sentence.
They had originally tuned in to judge Leo Vance's "failure." Instead, they had been served a five-star gourmet meal, only to have the waiter snatch the plate away after the first bite.
"Maya... can't you call Director Thorne?" Della turned to her CEO, her eyes pleading. "Ask him for a leak. Tell him we're in the industry! We can keep a secret!"
Maya West stared at the trending hashtags, her mind still reeling. "Call Julian Thorne? I wish. He's an 'Architect of Action,' Della. He doesn't take calls from talent managers asking for spoilers. He's in a different league."
Maya's own prestigious career, built on high-concept thrillers had taught her one thing: you don't mess with a director's release schedule.
"Ugh!" Della groaned, flopping back onto the sofa. She felt like a thousand ants were crawling under her skin. If she didn't see the next episode tonight, she was convinced she'd have a literal breakdown.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up. "Wait! Maya, you have Leo Vance's private number, right? If we can't talk to the director, let's go straight to the man himself!"
Maya looked at the infatuated superstar with a helpless expression. "Fine, fine. I'll see what I can do."
UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television.
"What?! It's over?!" Ava shouted, clutching her hair.
The multimedia lab was in an uproar. Students were hounding Lucas Miller for any scrap of information.
"Lucas! What happens next? What are Gojo's powers?" "Why does he wear the mask? Is he blind? Is he hideously scarred?" "Can Itadori actually beat him?"
Lucas looked at his agitated classmates, their eyes gleaming with a desperate hunger for spoilers. He knew he was in trouble. "Look, I can only tell you guys six things..."
Chloe Vance sat nearby, pretending to check her nails, but her ears were practically vibrating.
Before Lucas could finish his sentence, he caught the look in his classmates' eyes, they were ready to tackle him. He didn't hesitate. He bolted for the door.
"Get him! Sukuna's trying to escape!" a student roared as the entire class chased him down the hall.
Tonight was destined to be a sleepless night for the internet.
Those who had initially come to make fun of the "Hellraiser" had been completely subverted. They had gone from looking for "cringe" memes to being utterly immersed in the world of Jujutsu.
They flocked to the official Jujutsu Kaisen X and Instagram accounts, leaving thousands of frantic comments.
[I've never begged anyone in my life, but Global Stream, I am on my knees! Just one more episode!]
[It's been one hour and twelve minutes since the episode ended. Why hasn't the next one started? Does the production team hate us?!][Director Thorne, the donkeys on a farm work harder than you! Update the show!]
The audience was starving. They had been tormented by generic, safe Hollywood romance for so long that this high-octane, soul-stirring action was like water in a desert.
As the crowd grew, the comments divided into two hilarious factions. The die-hard haters were still trying to find a reason to complain.
[Everyone knows eyes are the key to acting! Thorne covered Leo's eyes because he knows the kid has the range of a teaspoon!][Maybe his eyes are permanently crossed? That's why he's always getting into fights?][The director understood the assignment: Hide the Hellraiser's face and let the CGI do the heavy lifting!]
But the fans, newly converted from the hater camp fought back.
[If Leo Vance keeps this up, he's going from 'Hellraiser' to 'A-Lister' in three episodes.][Leo Vance is the actor. Gojo Satoru is a God. Don't confuse the two!]
[I don't care about his character issues anymore. As long as he keeps playing Gojo like this, he can fight as many paparazzi as he wants!]
The popularity of the show was unprecedented. On Global Stream, the "heat index" reached 28,000 points in a single night, breaking the record for the fastest-growing series in the platform's history. It was only 2,000 points away from the legendary "Diamond Tier" (30,000+), a feat achieved by only five shows in history.
While the fans were losing their minds, the person most annoyed by the overnight success was Director Julian Thorne.
His phone was melting. His social media was a war zone of update requests. Even his daughter, who usually only called to ask for money had called him specifically to demand a spoiler for the "Six Eyes" reveal.
Thorne reached his breaking point. He decided to pass the buck. He posted a single update on X:
[Julian Thorne (@JThorne_Director): To the fans: Please, have mercy. I am officially coming clean. I am NOT the primary creative force behind this show. I was a hired gun to handle the logistics. The man you want to harass for updates is Leo Vance. He is the real chief director. I'm an old man and I need to sleep!]
The internet scoffed.
Leo Vance? The Hellraiser? The chief director?
It was the funniest joke of the year. Clearly, Thorne was just being a troll to deflect the pressure.
However, a group of dedicated nerds on Reddit decided to actually look at the end credits crawl of the third episode. They froze.
Good lord.
The list was absolute insanity. A single name appeared over and over again:
[Screenplay by]: Leo Vance
[Voice of Ryomen Sukuna]: Leo Vance [Associate Director]: Leo Vance
[Theme Song Produced by]: Leo Vance
[Lead Actor]: Leo Vance
[Lead Editor]: Leo Vance
[Stunt Coordinator]: Leo Vance
The world went quiet for a split second as the realization sank in. This wasn't a vanity project. This was a one-man army.
