Selene's POV
Carlo's words followed me up the grand staircase as I went into the guest bedroom.
For a long moment I just stood there, breathing through my mouth like I'd run a marathon and trying to wrap my head around how best to go about Carlo's threat until I finally sank onto the edge of the bed and pressed my palms to my eyes to stop the tears from dropping.
Sleep wasn't going to happen tonight anyway, especially not with the image of my mom sounding and looking like a ghost replaying in my head so I didn't try to force it.
I stood again,went downstairs to get the supplies I had initially intended to grab for Patrick.
My scarf was still in Carlo's room,so I decided to go grab it. Gladly, Carlos wasn't in the room or even in the house although I didn't hear him leave.
