Lucien's POV
The following week returned quickly, and the school buzzed with conversation about what had transpired over the weekend between the two cousins, Cassia and Meret. The story had spread fast, and everyone had an opinion. No one could quite believe what had happened, but since it had come to the king's attention, they were forced to acknowledge its authenticity.
"I can't believe Cassia is gone from the school," one student said. "I wonder what her fate will be."
"Yeah… nothing has been disclosed yet about her punishment," another replied.
"I guess she had it coming. I mean, she took it way too far," a third chimed in.
"Meret had it coming if you ask me," another whispered.
"How though? To the point you'd want to kill your own cousin? Don't piss me off."
That last remark spread quickly among the students. No one knew what Cassia's fate would be. Nothing official had been released, and the lack of information only fueled the curiosity.
