Chapter 69 - War

Lucien's POV

I had just called Silas to come over before leaving for Natalie's when my phone rang.

I glanced at the screen—and paused.

It was Natalie.

I felt a surge of relief. I tried calling her back last night. She had barely walked away when Koa and I started fighting, but she didn't pick up.

I had even gone as far as reaching out to Maya, asking if she had heard from her—only to find out they were actively communicating, and Natalie just didn't want to talk to me.

That was strange, considering she was into me. But according to Maya, she thought I was jealous of her talking to Koa… and felt even worse when he started hitting me back.

It stung, knowing she had seen all of that.

Still, I decided not to push it anymore—even though I was running out of suitable options for a Luna.

Until now.

"Hey, Natalie," I said, a hint of anxiety and relief slipping into my voice.

"Hi, babe."

Babe?

That was a good sign.
