~Yellow POV~
Yellow's vision focused as her mind returned to the battlefield staring at the woman across from her Yellow's mind jarred with only one thing…
Yellow's eyes sharpened and unbeknownst her a golden aura flickered around her and Partner Pikachu. Pikachu let out a soft, "Chu?"
And its eyes sharpened, staring at the Goldeen with an intensity, before Yellow returned her Froakie and Torchic to their Pokéballs, before looking over at Soutarou and confidently nodding.
Yellow softly said, "Pikachu, Splishy Splash! Then Zippy Zap!"
Lily looked at Yellow in confusion before a wave of electrified water crashed towards Lily's Goldeen. Lily panicked and said, "G-goldeen use Water Pulse!"
The result was as expected the water crashed through the weak water pulse instantly paralyzing the Goldeen and then Pikachu using its priority move Zippy Zap move nearly instantly charging a Zippy Zap that slammed into Goldeen with charring zap. Due to same type attack bonus (STAB) and Partner Pikachu's elevated stats it was an instant knock out.
Soutarou looked a bit bewildered, but then he remembered which gym this was and he called out, "Goldeen is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! Gym Leader please send out your next pokemon."
Lily stepped back blankly before the blue haired second eldest sister said, "Don't worry Sister I'll avenge you! Come out, Seel!"
A blueish white pinniped Pokémon with a thick hide covered in fur with two jutting teeth appeared and Soutarou called out, "Begin!"
Only for Yellow to ruthlessly call out, "Pikachu Volt Tackle."
Violet who was shit talking, but was tuned out by Yellow was unable to react and Seel who had no clue what was going on was slammed by an electrified and charging Pikachu straight into unconsciousness.
Soutarou blankly stared, Violet literally fell backwards, and Daisy warily smiled. Before Soutarou belatedly and somewhat flabbergastedly announced, "S-seel is unable to battle! G-gym Leader please send out your next pokemon."
Yellow tilted her head and thought,
Yellow beamed at Soutarou and Soutarou smiled back at her before the blond and eldest sister Daisy, just sighed and said, "Come out Shellder!
Soutarou nodded and said, "Begin!"
Daisy didn't make any unnecessary comments learning from her sister's losses and quickly called out, "Use Iron Defense and follow it up with Withdraw! Then use Razor Shell Shellder!"
Yellow nodded and thought to herself,
Yellow responded with, "Pikachu use Iron Tail bat Shellder's shells away! Then use Splishy Splash!"
Shellder was easily knocked away to which Daisy frowned and said in a defeated tone, "Shellder use Hydropump!"
Only for the Hydropump to get drowned straight inside of Pikachu's Splishy Splash electrified wave of water. Instantly the electrified water hit Shellder, though this time it failed to paralyze the targeted pokemon. But it was over as Yellow instantly followed it up with ordering Pikachu to use Thunderbolt.
Shellder's swirling eyes revealed the result clearly and Daisy just smiled lightly and recalled her pokemon without much thought, already pulling out her gym badge box.
Soutarou nodded proudly and declared, "The Gym Leader's Pokemon are unable to battle. Trainer Yellow's challenge ends in a victory."
Soutarou stepped off the platform all while Yellow grabbed her Pikachu who had jumped into her arms and spun it around in joy. Yellow whispered happily, "We did it… Pikachu… No, from now on you're Chuchu!"
Yellow rubbed her cheeks against Chuchu's affectionately… What she didn't notice was Soutarou talking to the Cerulean Sisters…
~Soutarou POV~
Soutarou sighed deeply and walked over to the trio of sisters and said, "Thank you for going easy on her. She just got her starter and she has a confidence issue… She had a hard childhood, people like you are why our society's still in one piece. So thank you very much."
'My ass they went easy on her! I'll be a polite gentleman and white lie to give you some face, because you're Misty's sisters, but damn that was embarrassing.'
Lily's face flushed in embarrassment, while Violet confidently slipped into the lie Soutarou had made for her making his face twitch, while Daisy smiled at him softly realizing he was trying to save their dignity.
Daisy coughed into her fist and said, "Ehem. You don't have to be too kind, that was us trying… Honestly we're not cut out to be Gym Leaders… Though… I don't mind being a wife… I'd like to humbly retract my prior statement. I'm completely available. Perhaps… after I give this badge you'd like to go somewhere-?"
Soutarou reluctantly put his hand up, he had to admit he was definitely interested. These three were without a doubt pretty, but he also cared more for Misty than them, so he politely, but firmly said, "Ah, I'll have to decline today. Misty wouldn't be too happy if I were to date one of her sisters."
The trio raised their eyebrows and Daisy said, "You know Misty?"
Soutarou nodded and said, "She's back in town, I assumed she'd already met with you, but I guess not. Once she's in I'll challenge her for my gym badge."
Daisy covered her mouth and said, "Challenge the gym? Oh my… You're younger than you act aren't you?"
Soutarou smiled unambiguously and said, "Perhaps… Anyways shall we?"
Soutarou put his arm out in a "ladies first" motion and the group walked over to Yellow and her Pokemon who were now all released. Soutarou smiled and said, "Congratulations, Yellow I knew you could do it. What did I say? As long as you believe in yourself, no one can defeat you. And look at that on your first day with your brand new starter Pokémon you already earned a Gym Badge."
The trio of sisters grimaced, but Daisy forced herself to smile and she held out a gym badge and politely said, "Most impressive to be able to defeat us on your first day as a trainer… Here is the Cascade Badge, you earned it."
Soutarou nodded for Yellow, who looked hesitant, to take it. Yellow took it while Soutarou slung his back pack around and grabbed Yellow's badge box and held it open for her. Yellow slotted the Gym Badge into position and looked somewhat dazed.
Soutarou smiled at her and said, "Not what you expected to happen today?"
Yellow nodded and said, "Life around you really is like an adventure… Everything seems to move at a million miles per hour…"
Soutarou smiled at her and just then Misty walked in the Gym causing her sisters to turn in surprise, before Misty looked at Soutarou and yelled, "You bastard! You lied to me! You said you wouldn't challenge the gym until tomorrow!"
Soutarou shook his head and held open the box so she could see before saying, "Yellow challenged, not me. I'll still wait for you."
Misty's worry deflated and said, "Fine. But don't expect me to go easy on you!"
Soutarou shook his head and said, "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Misty then turned to Yellow and gapped and said, "You got her three starters? You damn rich boy! Do you have any idea how expensive official league starters are? Especially ones from outside the region you're in?"
Soutarou shrugged and tossed Misty a pokeball and said, "Just be honest, you're just upset because you thought I didn't get you anything… Don't worry. I got you one too, it's a Mudkip from Hoenn, a very strong final evolution and I made sure the one you got was top tier in terms of talent too."
Misty just blankly looked at the Pokeball in her hands before coughing into her fist and saying, "I suppose it's fine then."
Soutarou chuckled and said, "As expected of you Misty."
She rolled her eyes before she then said seriously, "Should I use Mudkip against you tomorrow?"
Soutarou shrugged and said, "If you want. I personally think that's probably not a good idea, while building Mudkip for your main team is ideal. My Pokemon are all much stronger, letting Mudkip fight right out the gate might hurt its confidence in the long run."
Misty nodded before lifting her chin and motioning towards Yellow and asking silently, "How'd she do? Is she any good?"
Soutarou smiled and said, "I'm afraid your sisters got steamrolled by one pokemon."
Misty nodded and said, "That tells me nothing, but also something."
Soutarou's eyes twitched and he said, "If your sisters are that weak, want me to have some powerful Pokemon to hold the fort down for them?"
Misty shook her head and said, "It's fine those three aren't cut out to be Gym Leader anyways, they're just holding onto my position for me."
Soutarou made an ok sign and said, "How'd your session with Gyarados go?"
Misty turned towards Soutarou shakily and said, "Still a bit scared, but Gyarados is actually pretty reasonable. I beat it and it wants to get stronger. Apparently it just evolved from a magikarp too…"
Soutarou scratched his chin and said, "I see… Try to see if Gyarados can learn to fly… If not, try to actively have it work on trying to fly. Gyarados is really limited by its lack of mobility. But in theory thanks to its Flying typing it should be able to."
Misty deadpan stared at Soutarou and said, "You want me to try something that not even Dragon Master and Champion, Lance Blackthorn could pull off?"
Soutarou smiled and said, "I think you're more talented than you know."
Misty's lips pursed and softly said, "Ok… I'll try. No promises though."
Soutarou nodded and said, "Let me know if you need any help. Speaking of help… Could you help me get Yellow some new outfits?"
Misty's eyes glanced over to Yellow and she smiled at him and said, "As expected of you… Always thinking of others."
Misty nodded and then with a straight face said, "Give me your card, I'll take her."
Soutarou deadpanned and said, "Fine. But I swear if I check your bag later and there's a dozen new outfits I'm never taking you shopping again! However much Yellow needs, spend, but don't buy random things."
Misty smirked and said, "Don't worry I'll only take a few things as compensation for my time. It won't even be above 100,000 pokedollars."
Soutarou's brow twitched, before he thought of something and said, "That's still… Never mind knock yourself out… Means less time for you to train for tomorrow's battle. Don't worry poor Gyarados won't even know what hit him."
Misty immediately turned red and ran over to Yellow and grabbed her before dragging her and bolting out of the Gym at such a speed Soutarou could've sworn she used Quick Attack to run away.
Soutarou scratched his chin for a moment in contemplation before bidding Misty's sisters farewell, not before all of them smirked at Soutarou who gave them a wary smile. Daisy had those "oh so that's how it is~" eyes, while Violet covered her mouth in surprise, while Lily seemed a bit jealous and stared at Soutarou.
Eventually managing to leave the gym he ran into Kaede she said, "That's where you were, did you already challenge the gym?"
Soutarou shook his head and said, "No Yellow did."
Kaede paused and said, "Really? Did she win?"
Soutarou said, "She did, she's an impressive prospect."
Kaede was pleasantly surprised muttering, "As expected of someone with Viridian Power…"
She then asked, "What starters did you get her?"
Soutarou responded, "Ah Sebastian that old guy got too many. I asked for two, he got four, so Yellow got a Pikachu, Froakie, and Torchic. While the fourth, Mudkip, went to Misty because I felt that it'd go pretty well with her team."
Kaede raised a brow and said, "That's… Wow… Nothing for me?"
Soutarou sighed and said, "What do you want?"
Kaede tapped her chin and said, "Honestly? A Gimmighoul or a Dreppy would be nice. Maybe a Larvesta. My team is really bulky without Latios, a new non-legendary offensive member would be good."
Soutarou raised an eyebrow and said, "All of those options are expensive top tier pokemon… Not to mention Gimmighoul needs nearly a thousand coins to evolve in Gholdengo."
Kaede sweetly looked up at Soutarou, whose face went black and he gritted out, "I'll see what I can do."
'Here I was thinking about getting Yellow a Gible… If I get her a Gible… Then getting Kaede a Dreppy makes sense… and I already planned on getting Misty a Horsea. Damn costs keep rising! Sebastian's probably chewing me out over my choice of travel partners… Talk about pricey… Well it's fine, money is a non-issue now that I've thought about. I'm just cheap…'
Kaede stared at Soutarou for a moment before seriously saying, "I'm just joking you know, training another pokémon for my team will take time."
Soutarou nodded and said, "Don't worry I'll look for something for you."
Kaede glazed over a second before she smiled softly and said, "Whatever follows your plans."
Soutarou stared at her and said, "You really won't tell me the secret?"
Kaede tilted her head and flashed him a motion of her lips being sealed by making a zipped motion before she threw the 'zip'. Soutarou rolled his eyes and pretended to pick up the zip and unzip her mouth all while tilting her chin up at him and saying, "Tell me."
