Chapter 27 - V1CH27- The Tyrant, Gyarados.

~Soutarou POV~

Kaede coughed into her fist drawing everyone's attention including her elder sisters who were now sitting on Yellow's other side. Before Kaede announced, "Trainer Soutarou challenges the Cerulean City Gym and acting Gym Leader Misty! The battle will end when either the Gym Leader's pokemon are unable to battle or challenger fails to do so. Both sides will use three Pokemon, the Gym Leader cannot switch Pokemon and will reveal their Pokemon first."

Misty casually tossed out a pokeball revealing her Staryu, while Soutarou responded in kind releasing his Shiny Milotic. 

Misty called out, "Alright… It's time to shine, Staryu take the stage!"

Soutarou responded in kind, "Grace the battlefield, Milotic!"

Causing a collective gasp from the audience excluding Yellow at Milotic's sheer beauty and well the fact that such a rare Pokemon was showing up in a battle like this…

Misty on the other hand was a bit grim and waited for Kaede to declare the beginning of the battle. As is in response Kaede then glanced at both trainers who nodded before raising her arm and dropping it dramatically saying, "Let the battle begin!"

Neither Misty nor Soutarou made a move instead Misty called out, "I haven't known you long Soutarou… But I'll show you how much I've improved! I'll show you my resolve and I won't lose!"

Soutarou nodded before saying, "You're making it sound like I'm the gym leader and you're the challenger Misty."

Misty rolled her eyes and said, "As strong as you are, if you challenge my sisters' pokemon you could just go out onto the field yourself and smack them around, forget sending out your pokemon."

Soutarou's brow twitched before he closed his eyes and shook his head only for them to snap open as Misty ruthlessly used that verbal distraction to have her Staryu use rapidly before using to drag Milotic towards it.

'What…?'

Soutarou was flabbergasted before saying, "Milotic Surf! Raise above it and then crash into Staryu with Dragon Tail!"

Misty only had Staryu respond with some signal sending a bad premonition down his spine, before he commanded Milotic, "Milotic pull back don't use Dragon Tail fire off a Dragon Pulse force Staryu away from you!"

Milotic paused for a moment canceling the blue light shimmering on her tail before diving into the water and moving back towards Soutarou only for the remnants of Whirlpool to drag her close to Staryu who dived from the surface of the water of the Gym's pool into the water towards Milotic. Milotic quickly found her balance and dispelled the damaging currents of water around her before blasting the rushing Staryu with Dragon Pulse only for Staryu to tank the blast clinging to the last bit of life making Milotic turn flabbergasted and Soutarou realize what she was doing. 

Unfortunately Milotic was too close and a Misty grin and a chilling voice rang out across the entire battlefield, "Staryu !"

At the same time Soutarou ordered Milotic to use Protect. Yet it was too late the barely formed green barrier shattered and water was sent flying in a massive *BOOM* with the resulting wind force knocking Misty off her feet and Soutarou having to throw his hands up in order to protect his eyes from the blast. Before everyone got drizzled on. As the battlefield cleared, Soutarou's eyes turned grim and he thought to himself, 'This maniac! Just how badly do you want to win?!?!'

'Damn Misty is fucking ruthless! What sort of trainer just calmly orders her pokemon to self-destruct?!?! Damn you Misty!'

Meanwhile in the viewing area Yellow's jaw dropped as she watched a true Pokemon battle for the first time, with her eyes shining as she watched Misty. Her eyes glanced at Soutarou's furrowed brows and she shouted, "Don't give up Soutarou!"

Hearing that Soutarou's ashen face turned even more bleak as he already knew the result and he knew he'd disappoint Yellow. And as if to prove his feeling right the battlefield cleared up revealing a panting and barely awake Milotic who was scarred and charred beyond recognition. All the while Staryu was clearly unable to battle with a swirling symbol appearing over it. 

Kaede who had watched in bewilderment and astonishment of Misty's ruthlessness as a trainer softly said, "Staryu is unable to battle. Milotic wins…"

Misty immediately sent out her Starmie and ordered her Starmie to use Surf and then Hydropump. All while Soutarou was grimly about to recall Milotic before Milotic collapsed with swirls appearing in its eyes as Kaede called out the result before Soutarou then said, "Milotic return."

Misty flashed her teeth in a victorious smile, before ordering Starmie to use while Soutarou sent out his next pokemon. Soutarou nodded as if expecting that and immediately sent out Servine to try to interject during Staryu's buffing period. Soutarou called out, "Come on out, Servine!"

'This is bad… Misty blew up Milotic and actually beat her… Not only that… She destroyed all the little land platforms in the process… Meaning Servine is going to face an uphill terrain battle.'

Soutarou calmed down and said, "You already know what to do, Servine. Grassy Terrain and then continuously use Leaf Storm! Don't let Starmie close in."

Misty frowned and was forced to have Starmie dive deep into the water before the bit of land on the trainer side of the field became enveloped in a green glow and magical grass to appear. Soutarou continued on, "Servine fire the Leaf Storm into the water!"

Dozens of green glowing leaves formed and shot into the water as Starmie dodged in the water all while an orange glow covered Servine and its attack rose by two stages. Servine immediately began charging another Leaf Storm and continued to fire it into the water.

At the same time Misty continued to have the speed boosted Starmie dodge and move with shocking speed under water. All while Starmie continued to move towards the bit of land that Servine was on. When Soutarou saw the orange glow cover and fade from Servine for the third time he changed his orders and said, "Magical Leaf. Target and lock down Starmie."

A dozen glow leaves formed in Servine's small hands shooting out like bullets and curving towards the now rapidly charging out of the water towards Servine. 

Soutarou's eyes flashed blue for a second, almost imperceptibly as he ordered Servine quietly, {Substitute!} 

And once again Starmie like Staryu appeared near Servine instead of Milotic barely standing before it glowed red and a massive boom rang out. As the battlefield cleared Misty's hands were clenched only to see Servine standing on a completely stone, more or less completely fine, just a bit wet. All while Starmie was completely passed out as Soutarou said, "Misty. That strategy is good… Only works the first time when you have the element of surprise."

Misty sighed and nodded before recalling Starmie as Kaede announced, "Starmie is unable to battle, Servine wins!"

Misty's eyes hardened and she sighed before staring intensely at the pokeball in her hand before tossing with a slight curve and saying, "Wash them away, Gyarados!"

A roaring tall red armor like scaled figure was revealed, with Servine instantly getting a glow of orange around it the moment Gyarados hit the field. Misty didn't hesitate immediately ordering her shiny Gyarados to use and use the water to swim and build momentum and to crash into Servine with as much force as possible.

Soutarou's eyes flashed and he responded calmly with Leaf Tornado to blow Gyarados away and then to use Protect. 

Misty's eyes glinted and she smiled as she twisted her command, "Gyarados use the Waterfall to rise out of the water then use Bounce to jump over the Leaf Tornado and hit the Protect, follow it up and finish with Hurricane!"

In one fell swoop Gyarados jumped out of the water using Waterfall as a method to jut out of the water's surface before using Bounce on top of that to completely jump over the Leaf Tornado and crashing into the protect that forced its off all while the Hurricane it had been preparing was blasted at point blank.

Despite not being a special attacker, Hurricane was a powerful flying type move against a grass type like Servine, causing Servine to get blasted into the water and for Gyarados to immediately without command follow it up with whirlpool much like Staryu and Starmie's attempts instantly making it clear to Soutarou that Misty really had trained and thought of a hell of a strategy.

Soutarou shouted, "Servine, don't panic, use Leech Seed then Leaf Storm again and don't let Gyarados get close by creating a Tornado around you add in Leaf Tornado!"

Servine on the small piece of land it had dragged itself upon using its vines after feeling Soutarou's intentions through the small bit of power of Viridian. Instantly carried out the spoken commands. Within moments a swirling tornado barrier of hundreds of leaves formed. 

'That's it now it's just a defensive battle, even though both sides have a type advantage over the other. Gyarados is a close attacker and Servine is clearly a special attacker after maxing out its special attack with buffs… The outcome is obvious.'

Just as Soutarou thought that Misty too came to the same conclusion and she grit her teeth in frustration and so did Gyarados. Both had a burning desire in their eyes and Misty glanced at Gyarados with a conflicted look. Before she shook herself free and thought, and at that moment she confidently said, "Do you trust me Gyarados?"

Gyarados let a small roar back at her, "GYAA GYAAAAAARADOSSS" (As long as you aren't afraid… and we don't lose this fight and you make me stronger. Why wouldn't I?)

Soutarou watched in horror as Misty pulled out a stone and called out to Gyarados, "Then let's do it!"

Misty breathed in and out and called out, "GYARADOS MEGA EVOLVE!"

Soutarou grit his teeth and thought about making a proper response, but he could tell there wasn't much else he could do, Servine was isolated on the last bits of land, while the rest of the battlefield had been purposefully cleared out by Misty leaving only a field of water. 

He watched as the stone in Misty's hand answered the one that he'd only just noticed was hanging against Gyarados' body, with both igniting with a blinding, almost prismatic light. As the glow surged outward in a pulsing ring across the pool of water the entire battlefield began to tremble as if the gym's pool itself had taken a sharp breath. And at the moment Gyarados threw its head back and roared, not in pain, but in raw, fury and power.

As the light swallowed the red Gyarados whole faded, it revealed an even more monstrous silhouette covered in brutal armor like plates of deep dark crimson. 

In the audience Hilda, Dawn and Yellow's jaws literally dropped. While Dawn's eyes also glinted and glanced at Soutarou before her gaze returned to one of sheer shock.

Soutarou's face fell and he thought, 'You gotta be shitting me… She… Holy shit… That's definitely one way to break through…. Just boost your stats into oblivion! Damn bastard…'

Soutarou maintained his calm facade and said, "Attract! Follow it up with Sweet Scent, then use Leaf Storm and blow the entire tornado all towards Gyarados!"

Misty at the same time said, "Close your eyes and dive into the water Gyarados! Then… Then charge straight through the storm with !"

Soutarou's gaze darkened as Misty accurately blocked Attract, by having Gyarados close its eyes. And he sighed in defeat as there weren't any options to stop Gyarados. 

'Even if I use protect there won't be any point because Gyarados is just going to hammer through it the next turn… Then! All in on offense!'

Soutarou's face turned completely serious and he ordered loudly, "Servine… One more Leaf Storm to blast Gyarados straight into the water! Then use Giga Drain, if they want to trade blows with us then we'll drag them down!"

Misty's Gyarados whose eyes were already glowing couldn't listen to any other commands just charged through the ever growing Leaf Storm-Tornado in a mad dash, even tanking a Giga Drain before slamming against Servine sending dust and water flying into the air…
