"What?"
Maria and Danish said at the same time, confused by Sammy's remarks
"Uhh."
Sammy said Uhh... because Sammy's social skills sucked more than his gaming skills.
"Hey Sammy you're not losing your mind, are you?" Asked Danish as he was concerned for Sammy's mental health.
'No I'm fine you numskull!' Sammy thought.
"What No! I just said that to Uhh... ease up the tension you know..."
"Right... but I'm sorry for your loss but you seriously shouldn't endanger yourself trying to find your father who is missing."
Said doctor Maria trying to comfort Sammy by saying missing instead of dead since they didn't find his father's dead body.
Sammy smiled a bit seeing Maria trying to comfort him by saying missing instead of dead.
Even though Sammy knew that Maria was sure that his father was dead as they had found his father right hand severed from his body, but they couldn't find his dead body but, there was enough blood on the grass that they could confidently say that Sammy's father was dead.
"Okay but when can I get out of the hospital?" Asked Sammy as he desperately wanted to read the book.
"After a quick check-up." Replied Maria.
'Alright just a quick check up and im ou-' Sammy's thought was interrupted once again by Danish's voice.
"Oh, by the way Sammy, what kind of college do you want to go to? Oh and also you can't say no."
Sammy was a bit annoyed because Danish said he couldn't say no although it's not like Sammy doesn't want to go it's just that Danish is making it look like that Sammy isn't interested in going to collage but he is.
"I'll go to a medical college."
"Great choice! I thought you would choose something like forestry or something because your father was also a forest ranger."
In reality Sammy had chosen forestry in his previous life. But this time he decided to go to medical college to become a doctor And be rich.
"Oh you want to become a docter? Is it to get rich?"
Maria asked directly reading Sammy's mind even though she doesn't have the power to read minds.
'She read me like a book!' Sammy thought. But Sammy didn't want to admit it so he replied with.
"No! I just really want to save lives!"
"Did you learn lies like that from Danish?" Asked Maria
Sammy stared at Danish when he heard because he had no clue what Maria was taking about and the only thing Danish could do was give a nervous smile. Maria looked at Sammy's expression and said
"Well I guess he didn't tell you so... where should I start..."
"Wait! Maria you shouldn't waste your precious time trying to tell the things I said when I was young and not free mind, Uhh... anyways it seems Sammy wants to get out here fast so lets hurry up with the check-up." Said Danish in a hurry.
Even though Sammy wanted to hear whatever Danish was trying to hide he decided to get out of the hospital fast because he wanted to read the book and hence Sammy's low voice spoke
"Actually I was thinking the same."
A sigh came out of her mouth because she was actually pretty excited to tell the story but nonetheless she agreed with her patient, Sammy to get over with the check-up and the results were pretty normal.
"Maria said that I was in a coma for three days? Right? Hope you weren't worrying much?" Sammy asked although he knew that Danish would probably say somthing like: I was quite happy.
Danish asked in a serious tone yet still pretty nonchalant "How do you know her name?"
Sammy froze as he realised that Danish has never mentioned her name before and 17-year old Sammy didn't know her back then so Sammy answered by saying in questionable tone.
"You said her name yourself before?" S-tier gas light.
"Oh I did?" Danish said.
And so for a second there Sammy felt his heart skip a beat, as he really didn't want to get caught lying.
When they were about to enter the elevator Maria called Danish because some paperwork had to be completed which was related to Sammy's name, parents name and other such details and so.
Sammy was told to go down to the ground floor and get in the jeep so Sammy got in the elevator but as soon as the elevator was starting to close Sammy saw something yellow running towards him.
He wondered what it was so he began staring a bit then he noticed it had a mouth then his stupid brain started working and finally realized that the yellow thing which was yelling was just another human being asking him to stop the damn elevator from closing so that she could get in.
So he hurriedly pressed the stop button that would stop the elevator from closing and so the yellow-haired girl managed to get in and after closely observing her.
He noticed that she was wearing a jacket and a pretty nice scarf hence indicating that it was winter already, she also had had pretty red eyes.
The girl looked back at him with no emotions.
Hence Sammy realized that he was staring at the girl for too long so he stopped staring at her and thought to himself.
'god damn it you just had to stare at her and make the situation awkward didn't you!?'
And so to make the situation less awkward Sammy asked the girl in a nervous tone because he was frightened over all the different rude responses she could make.
"Which floor are you going to?"
After an awkward pause she answered in a calm and cold tone.
"I'm going to the ground floor which is th-"
Before the girl could finish her sentence he clicked the ground floor button *again* and after exactly 0.2 nanoseconds later he realized that he was going to the same floor as the girl and just made himself look like an idiot.
This is why Sammy hated public spaces as he would become an idiot even though he is smart and gets good grades but, does something stupid such as dropping something, in an awakward way even though the object he drops is super easy to hold.
Sammy at this point was dying due to embarrassment and just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible and as soon as he saw at which floor he was on he was shocked as he was on the 11th floor.
'Why!? Why the 11th floor! Who the heck designed the hospital to be 11 floors high! I barely remember anything about this place!'
Soon Sammy calmed down and thought.
'Maybe its fast super'
...no it wasn't.
It took the elevator 10 seconds for it to get to the tenth floor and so began the awkwardness...
And as soon as it was the ninth floor Sammy decided to talk to the girl and stop the awkwardness he was suffering in, but as luck would have it the elevator stopped and the lights went out and so the door to escape the awkwardness was closed but he had decided to not give up!
So he spam clicked the ground floor button but this time elevator started falling very fast in a sudden panic Sammy remembered something he read in a novel it was said that the main character jumped before the elevator landed hence surviving the elevator fall.
So he took the girl in his hands holding here like how a prince would hold a princess after saving her and said.
"Trust me, if we jump before the elevator lands then we can survive"
The girl tried to respond to his words but couldn't because Sammy was busy staring at the digital screen as the numbers were going down by each passing second and exactly after 0.8 seconds after the digital screen read ground floor he jumped but at the same the elevator stopped from crashing down hence making him look like an idiot once again.
"Could you put me down please?"
The girl asked politely and calmly and sammy responded by dropping her on the ground which was stupidly rude of him to do but Sammy had done this instinctivly because, he thought she was going to scold him because of the actions he had done earlier but no she was polite and even asked him politely to put her done so in his mind he though.
'FU-'
But the girl simply stayed calm and said.
"That was very rude but I'll forgive you for your rude actions if you help me get up"
Which Sammy did and repeatedly apologized for picking her up without her permission but she calmly said
"Its okay you were trying to save me by jumping at the last second before the elevator hit the ground, yes?"
"Yes!" Sammy responded as he was happy that the awakwardness was dissapearing
But soon after she added
"We would've died or be atleast severly hurt from it..."
Sammy smiled as soon as he was going to here praises such as...
If you had succeded you would have saved my life!
But no the girl instead said instead
...Even if you jumped at the perfect time."
Hence turning his story of almost saving someone into a story of how he was fooling himself to belive that he almost saved someone but the girl added.
"But still you were willing to do somthing instead of just standing still and doing nothing in your last moments."
"Unlike me that is."
The girl added but Sammy didn't try to comfort her and straight up said
"Thats true."
"But it seems that your way smarter and more social then me." Sammy added.
The girl muttered to herself
"Me be social more social?"
"Did you say somthing?" Sammy asked
"No!... nothing." The girl replied
Soon the elevator door was opened by some mechanics and they got out safely and so he said good bye to the girl.
Sammy decided to stay in the reception room since it was closest to the entrance/exit and waited for Danish there instead of in the jeep because he realized that he didn't have the keys to open it and as he was waiting he realized somthing and that is awkwardness is like an ocean and you learn to survive in it by drowning in it.
After three hours Danish came back but this time stitchs on his palm.
So Sammy asked
"What happened!?"
Danish replied in a laughing tone.
"I was stopping an elevator from falling and so i brused my hands, oh and you should have seen the others guys they had worser wounds."
Sammy at this point had nothing to say except thanks.
And when Sammy said thanks to Danish
Danish was confused and asked
"Why are you thanking me for saving the elevator, anyways i also proved i was a better arm wrestler then them"
'Ah so he doesn't know that he saved me again but this time from an elevator sacrificing your palms unlike last time sacrficing your life for mine... wait he arm wrestled them! Thats why it took so damn long!'
The puzzeled Danish sighed and told him to follow him to the jeep.
"Why didn't you get in the jeep like i told you to?"
Danish asked in a calm happy voice
Sammy replied in a calm way "You had the keys."
"Oh." Dansih replied
Then Sammy told Danish to drive fast because he had a book to read and while they were Danish mentioned that Maria asked him to go on a date with her but The Sammy before knew they were married but didn't know they ever dated as he didn't remember for some reason
"Wh-what!"
"Pretty suprising huh? So i wont be able to take you to the collage for the interview so you shou-
But while Danish was taking Sammy said in between
"l'd take a tax and go to the collage."
"..."
"Wow uh you really don't need me for anything? Even driving?"
"Exactly."
Sammy remained in silence Because the only thing to do while being stressed was to do something about it and so finally they arrived at home.
"Could you tell me more about how she said it and how you replied" Sammy asked in a bit nervous voice
"Why do you ask?" Asked Danish.
"Its just your style of dealing with things is a bit old" Replied Sammy hoping not to offend Danish.
"Oh... ill tell you later all about after i come back home so at 8pm ill tell ya" Danish replied in a calm tone.
"Okay" Sammy said being happy that he did not offend Danish.
Meanwhile in Danish's mind
'How dare he say that! Im not old im only 21! ill have a word with him at 8pm! because of work'
immediatly after the short exchange Sammy went to his room and started reading with and so he began reading the mysterious book.
