Almila
He turned the door handle again before knocking. I leaned against the door as if I could prevent it from opening.
My heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. My pulse pounded in my throat, and each beat left behind a sharp ache. I didn't even know why I was so overwhelmed, but I couldn't let him open this door.
If I did, I would give up resisting the desires inside me.
And I would lose.
"Almila, I know you're there."
For a moment, it felt as if his deep voice struck the very door I was leaning against. The sound of it made my entire body tremble, starting from my back and spreading through me.
I didn't want to answer him. I thought that if I stayed silent, he might convince himself that I wasn't inside.
This time he knocked harder, forcing me to step away from the door.
My vision was beginning to blur at the edges. My hand moved toward the handle, then I pulled it back immediately.
"Almila, if you don't open the door, I'll break it."
