The pressure on my throat darkened my vision within seconds. My breathing was no longer just uneven. Black spots began to cloud my sight. Perhaps I had not expected her to apply such force, or to be this strong.
When I looked at Kayra, I saw his eyes darken. That ocean blue had sunk into something far more terrifying. He tore his gaze away from me and fixed it on Luna.
His pheromones flooded the room, thick and suffocating. Even in that brief moment, I understood what he intended to do.
He wanted to kill everyone in his sight. Maybe anyone at all.
"Enough." Leader Alpha's voice thundered through the hall.
Suddenly, Luna's hand crushing my throat released me. Kayra, who had been about to lunge forward, stopped mid-motion. Alaz's hand, reaching toward him, froze in the air.
Air rushed violently into my lungs, and I began coughing. My body wavered, and I grabbed the edge of the table to steady myself, leaning against its corner.
