Chapter 13 - Suppressed Truths

Almila

I watched a certain area of the pool slowly turn red. The man who had fallen into the pool was now more clearly visible because his hair was wet. His eyebrows were long and thick, his blond hair was quite long and a little curly.

He had sharp facial features, that's why his every expression seemed sharper than it should have been. Though, that monstrous look in his eyes was slowly fading because of the shock.

Then, in that terror, a woman's voice drew everyone's attention.

"Dear Moon Goddess! What's going on here?!"

The woman suddenly stepped in between us, accompanied by her servants. Since the servants were standing there looking so angry, as if ready to trample us, I took a few steps back and pulled Atia away from the pool, to the corner, with me.

She had styled blonde hair, her carefully curled locks falling down to her chest. Although the wrinkles on her face revealed her age, her makeup and clothing gave her an alluring appearance.

After staring in shock at the man in the pool, she turned and looked at me and Atia behind me. Instinctively, I took a couple more steps back.

The man who fell into the pool pulled himself out by the edge with one hand and looked at the scissors I had stabbed in his shoulder. The woman went over to him anxiously.

"My son, Alaz! What's going on here?"

The blond man got out of the pool and sat down on the edge. His eyes lingered on the scissors on his shoulder for a moment, then he turned to me and frowned.

He was clearly much more irritated than before, but falling into the pool and getting wet must have brought him out of the wild mood he had been in. Because he looked a little calmer.

If this woman was his mother and they lived in this house, it wasn't hard to understand that this woman was Kayra's mother and this man was her brother.

Obviously I had gotten myself into trouble, though it had happened rather quickly.

"Call our family doctor immediately! Hurry!" His mother shouted in a voice mixed with anger and anxiety, several servants behind her jumped in place. Then a few of them moved to obey her.

But the man whose name I learned was Alaz intervened.

"It's not necessary," he said, in a voice that was unexpectedly calm. "Just keep those two women away from me or I might lose control."

His mother looked anxiously at him, then at the servants as if asking them for help. Alaz suddenly pulled the scissors stuck in his shoulder out in one swift motion.

His mother screamed in response, while Alaz let out a low groan and tossed the scissors aside. Blood was flowing from his shoulder, forming red streaks down his arm.

"Dear Goddess… Dear Goddess! Do something, go help my son!"

Some of the servants rushed to Alaz's side, searching for a way to stop the bleeding, but they were so panicked they didn't know what to do.

To prevent things from getting worse, I tore a long piece of fabric from the hem of my white dress. Alaz and his mother turned and looked at me.

Ignoring them, I carefully walked along the edge of the pool to reach him and bent down, starting to bandage the wound on his shoulder with the piece of my dress. All the while, his eyes were on me, and I could feel the pressure he was trying to exert on me again.

Even though I tore off a long piece, it wasn't enough to completely cover the wound. Still, after wrapping it, I tied a knot and made a move to pull back. Alaz grabbed my arm and stopped me.

Since I leaned down, our faces were close. He looked like he wanted to say something, but I couldn't quite make sense of his thoughts. I let him look at me for a moment, then pulled my arm back and spoke.

"I don't think it hit an artery, but you should still get it checked."

I was about to leave him and go back to Atia, but Alaz's mother stepped in front of me.

"You… you're that woman. Do you try to kill my son the moment you arrive?!"

There was no way she didn't know who I was. I already know that she and his family did. Still, I couldn't stop what she said from angering me.

"We were only defending ourselves. Teach your son how to control his rut first, then accuse me."

The woman's face flushed bright red at what I said. Just as she was about to respond, Alaz spoke.

"I'm not even in rut. You're the one who caused this by bringing an omega woman in heat in here."

That was exactly what made this situation the strangest of all. Atia was a beta, so something like that was impossible. If she were an omega, and according to him, one in heat at that, I would have noticed it first.

An omega in heat wouldn't even be able to control herself, yet Atia was perfectly normal.

I brushed past the woman and went back to Atia. But there was something off about her, her head was lowered, and her body was swaying slightly. I couldn't see her face because her hair was covering it.

I bent down to see her face, and from that moment on, something completely unexpected happened.

It was as if everything I had just thought began to fall apart at once. Atia murmured my name, I froze in shock at the scent rising from her.

The scent that entered through my nose reached my mind and showed me a brief vision. It was as if I were seeing dozens of hyacinths bloom all at once, triggered by a single drop falling from the sky onto dry, vast land.

Hyacinth's dense, oppressive fragrance wrapped around me from every side. I quickly brought my hand to my face, covering my mouth and nose.

I grabbed Atia by the arm and pulled her toward me, but my grip was far harsher than it should have been.

"Almila… what is this, what's happening to me..?"

Sweat had gathered on her forehead, her body shaking violently. I had to get her out of here.

Was Atia an omega? That was impossible… How could such a thing happen? Someone like her, who had been a beta all this time… How could she…

Alaz's mother stepped right up to us, tearing me away from my thoughts.

"You shameless whore! Did you really think you could carry out your treacherous plans this easily?"

After speaking, she covered her nose and mouth with her hand. I wanted to answer her, but the scent began to cause an intense pain in my head.

"Using a rabid omega… only a devil like you would come up with something like that!"

After shouting this in my face, she suddenly slapped me. The blow doubled, maybe even tripled the pain in my head, darkening my vision. The ringing in my ears was about to sever my connection to the world entirely.

"Take them away! Lock them up somewhere! And throw that omega aside as well!"

The last thing I saw before the servants grabbed my arms and dragged me away was Alaz's golden eyes.
