Chapter 47 - Chapter 48 Curse

The Captain's Cabin of the explorer was now more luxurious than any private room in a high-end tavern in Port Royal.

On the table were top-grade porcelain plates Jack had "borrowed" from the Governor's Mansion, filled with sizzling, roasted suckling pig.

Beside it was a plate piled high with fresh fruit, like a small mountain.

Billy, Hanson, and the others were gathered around the table, devouring the food like starving refugees who hadn't eaten in eight lifetimes.

"Damn it! It's good to follow the Captain, there's always meat to eat!"

Billy mumbled indistinctly, stuffing a large piece of roast meat into his mouth.

"These British pigs are simply tastier than the Spanish ones!"

"That's right!!"

Hanson chugged a large gulp of red wine, snuck out of the Governor's Mansion cellar, and boasted, his face flushed.

"Look, wine! This is what the Governor drinks! When did we ever get a chance to taste it before?"

The crew let out a boisterous laugh, the atmosphere reaching its peak.

Roger sat at the head of the table, holding an exquisite silver wine glass, the blood-red liquid inside gently swaying.

He watched the crew's unrefined behavior and shook his head with a smile.

He picked up a fork, speared a piece of what looked like tender and juicy roast meat, and put it into his mouth.

However, the moment the roast meat entered his mouth, the smile on Roger's face froze.

No taste.

Not a single bit of flavor.

The piece of meat in his mouth was like an oil-soaked wood chip, only greasy in texture, but he couldn't taste any meat flavor, not even saltiness.

What's going on?

Roger's heart sank.

He calmly swallowed the meat, then raised his wine glass and took a sip of the expensive aged wine.

Still no taste.

The liquid slid down his throat, leaving nothing but a cold sensation.

There was no fruitiness, no richness of wine, not even a hint of sweetness.

It was like drinking a cup of colored plain water.

Roger's heart plummeted.

He remembered the crazy old pirate, clutching the aztec gold coin in the Captain's Cabin, crying to him.

"I can see delicious food, but I can't taste it..."

"I can drink rum, but I can't feel a trace of drunkenness..."

Roger subconsciously reached into his In my arms and felt the two aztec gold coins with skull patterns.

Damn it!

I haven't been cursed too, have I?!

Roger's expression suddenly turned grim.

Damn it, this curse is too unreasonable!

I'm not a pirate, just a good young man who traveled here and wants to start a career, why am I cursed too?

Just because I touched it?

Is this thing contagious by touch?

"Captain, what's wrong? Is it not to your liking?"

Gibbs asked with concern, seeing Roger's changed expression.

"Nothing."

Roger forced a smile.

"Perhaps I've been at sea for too long, my mouth feels a bit bland."

Damn it, this is big trouble now.

Roger could finally understand the old man's feelings now.

This kind of torment, seeing but not being able to taste, was even worse than killing him.

He wouldn't even shake when urinating now.

No wonder that old man went crazy.

Roger took a deep breath, rapidly recalling all the information about the aztec gold coin.

The source of the curse was the Chest of Cortés.

The condition to lift the curse was to gather all eight hundred eighty-two aztec gold coins, repay the blood debt with the participants' blood, and then return the aztec gold coins.

Now, he had two in his hand.

One he tricked from the fake Barraba, and one he snatched from Elizabeth.

And most of the aztec gold coins were in the hands of the real Captain Barraba.

That is to say, he had to find the black pearl, and find the real Barraba.

Originally, this matter was just a system upgrade mission for him.

But now, it had become a top priority concerning whether he could eat meat and drink rum again!

Damn it, the nature of it had completely changed!

Roger's eyes instantly became incredibly firm.

He had originally planned to slowly strategize, using the aztec gold coins in his hand to negotiate with the undead monsters on the black pearl.

Now it seemed, that wouldn't work.

He had to speed up the progress!

He didn't want to live this tasteless life for another moment!

"Gibbs," Roger spoke.

"Here! Captain!"

"Go, invite Miss Swann over."

"I think it's time to discuss the ransom with her."

He needed money.

A lot of money!

He wanted to use the Port Royal Governor's money to build his Explorer into a true sea monster!

Then, take the initiative to attack!

To fish out that damned black pearl from the deep sea!

He would seize the ship of those undead monsters, take all their aztec gold coins, and then lift the curse!

As soon as he thought of this, Roger felt his cursed, gloomy mood improve slightly.
