Her soul was fading....slipping
The loud sound of the double doors being knocked down echoed through the hall like an exploded bomb. My hands still remained clasped around her neck as she struggled beneath me.
Behind me, I could hear audible gasps and the sound of a dozen footsteps rushing into the hall. The sweet smell of fear lingered in the air and it only fueled whatever darkness that was burning within me.
"Xaaji" fear and panic clung to lylena's words as she stood behind me. I didn't need to turn to see what her expression was. She was mortified.
I didn't turn, my eyes closing on their own accord as the remaining strands of modi's life began to seep into me. Blue swirling lines began to crawl their way on my arm and I could feel myself become.....more powerful.
"Xaaji" lylena's voice regained it's usual steady tone, her breathing calmer "great one. Please let her go"
"Stay out of this. Her soul belongs to me" my voice was mine but it had the depth of a thousand people speaking all at once. It was foreign yet familiar. Like I was used to it yet I had never heard it before.
"Yes. Yes it's yours. Her soul belongs to you and only you. She belongs to no one but you." She paused "We all do" I couldn't see her but I knew she had turned to stare at everyone as she spoke those last words 'we all do'
Kill her xaaji
The voices echoed again in my head again, drawing every strand of thought.
Kill her! Kill her!!
"Please xaaji, let her go" lylena pleaded, her eyes darting from me to modi's dying frame. Again, I didn't need to turn to know that.
"Why. Tell me why I should let her go" I commanded
No need for questions xaaji
Kill her!
She doesn't deserve to live
The voices echoed louder, urging and fueling my desire for her soul.
"Because you are a bringer of life." I could hear her voice getting closer "you are not just destruction xaaji. You are light"
I grinned "light cannot function without darkness. I need to let my darkness show to bleed light and this is just one of those days"
"No!" An unfamiliar voice screamed from behind "sister!"
Sister?
And that was all I needed to turn. A girl not more than fifteen stood behind lylena who was trying to hold her back. My black ink stained eyes stared at deep violet one's. There was a slight scar over her right eye but other than that she was perfect. Her hair was in a French braid with gold hair accessories in it.
The girl knelt down on her knees, her forehead kissing the ground with her hands splayed on the floor in submission "vajda great one. Let her go" her voice trembled, holding every hint of fear that she wasn't too eager to hide.
Sister? Modi has a sister?
Just like me. I have a sister, the only difference was that mine hated me. She actually wanted me dead.
"Let her go great one." Modi's sister pleaded, her voice almost muffled by her own tears.
Vajda—forgive
"This isn't who you are xaaji" lylena added and that was all it took for me to let go.
This isn't who I am. No ...it's not who I am.
I am Savannah, daughter of an alpha. I am no bringer of chaos.
My hands slowly let go of modi and I stumbled two steps back as a wave of dizziness hit me. The room began to spin and the last thing I remember before the darkness consumed me, was two pairs of golden eyes staring down at me with hate and disappointment.
"You should have taken her soul" it whispered seductively as I faded into nothingness.
I was running. My blood stained feet was touching the snow covered ground. My long hair flowing behind me like a freedom flag.
"Sister wait!" I yelled at a figure In front of me
My tiny hands were covered in blue tinted magic and I knew it would wear off soon.
"You're too slow" the girl ahead of me yelled back with a huge smile on her face. Laughter filled the air as she ran faster and faster until I couldn't see her anymore.
I was alone
I woke up with a start. My whole body was drenched in sweat from head to toe and my tongue felt like sand.
"Lylena. She's awake" someone said beside me.
"Where am I?" I asked in utter confusion. I tried to get up.
"It's okay great one, stay still" lylena pushed me back and I sunk deeper into the bed. Wait! what?
I looked down at the supposed bed and that was when I realized it wasn't a bed, it was a blue coloured water. Water that was filled with gold coloured snakes swimming around me.
"Holy f*ck" I yelled in terror as every single cell in my body reacted in fear "there's a f*cking snake in the water lylena! Get me out!" I tried to stand up but the sound of rattling chains made me pause. I was held down.
Wolves are strong creatures, unafraid of anything. But being a weak wolf meant being the centre of every form of that fearlessness. My bullies had made it a daily reminder to show how weak I am. Snakes was one of those ways.
"Relax xaaji, it's safe" lylena cooed
My brows scrunched together as I stared at the chains "What is this?" I asked in disbelief and pure panic
"It's a precaution great one. It's nothing too serious"
"If its nothing too serious then let me go" my eyes darted from the snakes to lylena "please" I added quickly
"This is for your own good great one." She moved away from the water
"No. No. Lylena let me out" my voice trembled
The snakes suddenly stopped moving, and then their heads turned to my body. Whatever gentle voodoo thing they were doing was long forgotten. They began swimming towards me in sudden attack.
"They can feel your fear great one. Relax your mind"
"If you want me to relax then get me out!" The snakes moved closer and closer
"They won't harm you great one, they are your friend"
"A snake is anything but a friend" my heart beat erratically in my chest as fear took over my body.
