Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Cold Fusion

Akira didn't go to the Academy the following morning. Instead, he filed a standard sick leave notice through his instructor, opting for a quiet day at his villa compound to focus on his personal research.

The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm glow over the private fruit garden in his backyard. In the center of the lawn, a Shadow Clone sat cross-legged on the grass with both hands held out, palms up, deep in meditation.

Sitting directly opposite the clone was Snowy. Kept cool on a makeshift throne of clear ice blocks Akira had carved for her, the young white fox had grown noticeably since he first brought her home. She happily licked at the cold slabs, her bushy tail flicking with contentment.

The clone began channeling dense chakra into both hands.

At first, a subtle repulsive force pushed his palms apart as two distinct elemental natures clashed—a sharp, cutting flow of Wind chakra in his right hand, and a dense, fluid stream of Water chakra in his left. Slowly, with grueling precision, the clone forced his hands together. The repelling force suddenly shifted into a powerful magnetic attraction, and the two streams fused.

CRACKLE!

A blinding flash of frost erupted from his hands. Thick, jagged chunks of ice rapidly manifested over his arms, spreading across his shoulders, chest, and head within seconds. In less than a breath, the clone was completely encased in a solid, frozen monolith, looking like a statue trapped inside an iceberg.

POOF!

Inside the thick ice, the clone's chakra structure caved in on itself, dispersing into a cloud of white smoke trapped within the hollow frozen shell.

Seeing the clone disappear, Snowy's ears perked up instantly. With an excited bark, she leaped off her seat and began eagerly gnawing at the large chunks of elemental ice. Finding them far colder and richer than normal ice, she systematically dragged the biggest fragments back into her chilled storage room, piling them alongside the existing hoard she had gathered over the week.

Inside the main house, sitting at a low wooden desk in his study, the real Akira suddenly closed his eyes as a wave of vivid memories and sensory feedback from the dispersed clone flooded into his mind.

Reaching for a black fountain pen, he opened a thick, leather-bound notebook and began jotting down the exact numerical adjustments from the trial.

Under the header "Creation of Ice Release (Kekkei Genkai)," he scribbled a precise note:

Trial #142: Wind (5.0) : Water (3.4) ratio. Stabilization failed during elemental fusion. Rapid heat absorption triggered involuntary body encasement. Adjust Water ratio down to 3.1 for Trial #143.

Akira capped his pen and leaned back in his chair, gazing at the notes he had meticulously compiled over the past several months.

His research into artificial Kekkei Genkai had stemmed from a frustrating physical bottleneck. Despite his rigorous training regimen, Akira knew his raw chakra reserves were currently capped at the level of a high Chunin—just shy of an Elite Chunin. His six-year-old body was simply still under development, and no amount of forced training could bypass the physical limitations of growth without risking permanent damage to his chakra pathway system.

Unable to expand the quantity of his chakra right now, he had pivoted entirely toward refining its quality.

Upon testing his elemental affinities, Akira had discovered he possessed natural aptitudes for Water, Wind, and Lightning. Over the past year, he had systematically learned nearly all standard C-rank and several B-rank techniques across those three elements. But simple versatility wasn't enough; he wanted true density.

He had long held a theory regarding the structural hierarchy of chakra quality in this world:

Standard Chakra (Base Level = 1.0): The baseline energy of a normal civilian or average shinobi.

Mastered Single-Nature Transformation (Level = 1.5): Achieved when a shinobi pushes a single element to its absolute absolute limit through mastery.

Kekkei Genkai Transformations (Level = 2.0+): Divided into two distinct categories:

Physical/Dōjutsu Bloodlines: Body-altering traits like the Sharingan, Byakugan, or Uzumaki vitality, where quality scales directly with bloodline purity.

Combined Elemental Transformations: Fusing two distinct nature transformations simultaneously to create an entirely new element—such as Ice, Scorch, or Lava Release.

For elemental fusion, the resulting chakra density scaled exponentially based on the number of combined natures and the exact stability of the ratio. If he could successfully synthesize Ice Release within his own system, every standard jutsu he cast would carry double the potency without requiring any extra physical strain on his developing body.

Akira closed the notebook, locking it inside his desk drawer.

Glancing out the window, he noticed the orange hues of twilight settling over the courtyard. The clock on the wall read 9:00 PM.

"Sister Ren should be arriving home soon..." Akira thought, setting his study tools aside.

Standing up and stretching his arms, he made his way down to the kitchen. While most aspects of his daily routine were driven by cold calculation, cooking remained the one genuine, relaxing hobby he thoroughly enjoyed. He tied a clean apron around his waist, pulled out a fresh cutting board, and set to work preparing dinner.
