Chapter 67 - Goku vs. Broly (Part 3)

Son Goku decisively deactivated his Shingan. In a brawl of this magnitude, the doujutsu's esoteric abilities were worse than useless.

"HAAAH!" Goku roared. The golden aura surrounding him erupted violently, now laced with crackling arcs of white lightning. He had transformed into a Super Saiyan 2.

His form flickered, vanishing and reappearing directly above Broly in an instant. He delivered a furious axe-kick straight down, unleashing all the pent-up frustration from the earlier beating.

Broly met the challenge head-on, defiantly throwing an uppercut to intercept the descending heel. But he had underestimated the sheer, qualitative leap in power. Goku's foot slammed through his guard, and the impact sent Broly hurtling backward like a ragdoll.

"Now it's my turn!" Goku bellowed, his figure becoming a golden blur. A relentless barrage of punches and kicks rained down on Broly, driving the Legendary Saiyan into a stumbling, forced retreat.

"YAAAH!" After a sustained onslaught, Goku paused to take a breath. Seizing the moment, he delivered a final, concussive blow to Broly's guard and cupped his hands at his side. "KAMEHAME—HA!"

A colossal beam of blue-white energy blasted forth, engulfing Broly and carrying him away into the starry void.

BOOOOOOM!

A sun-like explosion blossomed in the nearby cosmos, its silent fury illuminating the darkness.

"Now you're either dead or crippled!" Goku panted, a look of hard-won triumph on his face as he stared at the fading epicenter of the blast.

"KAKAROT! KAKAROT! I'LL KILL YOU! KILL YOU!"

As the energy dissipated, Broly's wounded, but very much alive, form was revealed. He seemed indifferent to his own injuries, his entire being consumed by bottomless hatred and rage. His furious screams to the void were not cries of pain, but bellows of pure, unadulterated wrath. And with each roar, his aura swelled, growing denser, more violent.

His muscles expanded, becoming even more monstrously defined. His pupils vanished into pools of seething green light. The berserk, overwhelming aura of the true Legendary Super Saiyan erupted in full. His power had skyrocketed, now rivaling Goku's own Super Saiyan 2 form.

"Just as I thought. This guy is far stronger than the Broly from the original timeline. This is completely unfair!"

Goku unleashed the full might of his Super Saiyan 2 and charged again. "No matter how strong you are, you'll only become a stepping stone on my path to the top!"

Two golden comets collided once more. This time, they abandoned blinding speed for raw, brutal power—a primal, close-quarters contest of strength and savagery.

Their limbs became blurs, striking and parrying with thunderous impacts that sent silent shockwaves through the vacuum. It was a vicious, give-no-quarter brawl.

"DIE…" Broly's entire body flared with golden light. Seizing a micro-opening, he drove a fist like a piledriver straight toward Goku's heart.

"Heh." Goku's lips split into a wild grin. He didn't dodge. He took the blow.

CRUNCH.

The punch landed squarely. Goku coughed, a spray of blood misting the space before him. But he didn't falter. Instead, he used the moment of impact, the split-second where Broly's arm was extended, to launch his own counter. He threw his entire body forward, leading with his forehead, and smashed his skull directly into Broly's face with the force of a meteor strike!

It was a reckless, suicidal move. Who headbutts a Legendary Super Saiyan?

Son Goku did. Because he wasn't afraid. This was the plan. If Broly's skull shattered, so be it—Goku's nigh-immortal body would simply regenerate. But one headbutt wouldn't finish Broly. It did, however, make his world spin violently. The Legendary Saiyan staggered, his movements turning sluggish.

Goku wasn't in great shape either, but his recovery was near-instantaneous. Having found a tactic that worked, he committed to it with hooliganish fervor. Started with the head, finish with the head.

"Die! Die! Die!" Goku roared, grabbing Broly by the shoulders and slamming their foreheads together again. And again. And again. The fight had devolved into a brutal, street-level scramble.

After a series of devastating cranium-cracking impacts, even Goku's vision swam, his head ringing as if full of bees. But he shook it off in seconds. Broly, however, was left reeling, disoriented and swaying dangerously in the zero-gravity, vulnerable.

"Heheh~ Now you get it, don't you?" Goku sneered, triumph flashing in his eyes.

While Broly was still struggling to reorient himself, Goku split off two Shadow Clones. The clones immediately assumed the fusion stance.

"FUSION!"

A flash of light, and a single, more powerful clone stood where two had been. Goku himself dropped out of Super Saiyan 2, reverting to his base form. He then stepped beside the fused clone.

"FUSION!"

Another, brighter flash. When it faded, a new Goku stood in the void. He was taller, more imposing. Leather armor draped casually over one shoulder, revealing sculpted, powerful muscles. His pants were loose but somehow accentuated his dominating presence. This was Goku after a single fusion—his power in base form now dwarfed his previous Super Saiyan 2 state.

By now, Broly had shaken off the dizziness. His eyes burned with literal fire as he fixed them on Goku. "KAKAROT! I'LL KILL YOU!" The humiliation of the headbutt barrage had pushed his rage into the stratosphere. His aura surged once more, and this time, faint tendrils of lightning began to crackle within his golden-green energy field.

Goku's eyes widened. Is he… is his anger so great he's about to break into Super Saiyan 2? And if he goes Super Saiyan 2 and then activates his Legendary mode… The thought was genuinely alarming.

A quick note on the Legendary Super Saiyan in this setting: It cannot achieve higher Super Saiyan grades (like SS2, SS3) on its own. However, I envision the 'Legendary' state as a unique mode—a berserker enhancement that can be activated on top of achieved transformations like Super Saiyan 2 or 3, multiplying their power exponentially.

"No more games. Time to end this." To prevent any catastrophic evolution, Goku immediately re-transformed into Super Saiyan 2. The Super Saiyan 2 state, now layered on top of his fused base power, was on an entirely different plane.

He moved.

His fist connected with Broly's crossed arms before the Legendary Saiyan could even begin an attack. The defensive block held for a millisecond before the overwhelming force behind the punch sent Broly catapulting backward through space. Goku flashed after him, his attacks a seamless, unforgiving storm of violence. Broly, utterly outclassed, could do nothing but weather the beating.

Blow after devastating blow landed. Finally, one perfectly placed strike sent Broly spinning away like a discarded top. He smashed through the husks of a dozen derelict planets and asteroids before finally crashing to a halt against the core of a small, dead world.

But Goku wasn't taking any chances. In the Dragon Ball universe, the only sure thing was that 'dead' wasn't always dead. To eliminate all variables, he needed absolute, overwhelming finality.

He split into four Shadow Clones once more…
