Chapter 49 - Chapter 49 — Two Reflections, One Name

Year X779 — Early Summer

Location: Fairy Tail Guild Hall, Magnolia

Age: Ren (14) | Erza (14) | Mirajane (14) | Lisanna (14) | Lisanna (Edolas)

---

Fairy Tail had seen strange things.

Talking cats.

Flying islands.

People bursting into flames on a daily basis.

But this?

This was new.

"…Okay," Natsu said slowly, standing in the center of the guild hall, eyes bouncing back and forth. "…Why are there two of her?"

Both Lisannas flinched at the same time.

Mirajane stood between them instinctively, one hand resting protectively on each girl's shoulder. Ren watched quietly from a nearby table, juice forgotten, eyes sharp but calm. Erza stood near the entrance, arms crossed, already bracing for impact—emotional or otherwise.

Earthland Lisanna stared.

Edolas Lisanna stared back.

They were the same height.

Same hair.

Same gentle eyes.

But not the same presence.

"…You're me," Earthland Lisanna whispered.

Edolas Lisanna swallowed. "…You're… also me."

Silence.

Then—

"COOL!" Natsu shouted. "DO YOU BOTH EAT THE SAME THINGS?"

Gray smacked him. "That's your first question?!"

Elfman leaned forward, eyes sparkling. "…Does this mean there are now two manly sisters?"

Mirajane's eye twitched. "…Elfman."

"YES, SIS?"

"…Please don't make this weird."

"It's already weird!" Cana laughed, downing a drink. "I love this guild."

The Moment Between Mirrors

Away from the noise, the two Lisannas sat across from each other at a small table, hands folded awkwardly.

"…So," Earthland Lisanna said softly. "…You fell through a sky."

Edolas Lisanna nodded. "…And landed in a forest. Then a scary monster. Then your sister punched it."

Mirajane winced. "…I did not punch—"

Ren coughed politely. "…She absolutely punched it."

Both Lisannas giggled.

The sound hit Mirajane like a wave.

> That laugh, she thought. I almost forgot how much I missed it.

Earthland Lisanna tilted her head. "…You feel… heavier than me."

Edolas Lisanna blinked. "…You feel… lighter."

They both paused.

"…That's strange," they said together.

Ren smiled faintly.

> Same soul, he thought. Different gravity.

Guild Chaos: Escalation

The realization spread like wildfire.

"…So there are two Strauss sisters now?"

"…Do they share birthdays?"

"…Can we do two missions at once?"

Makarov pinched the bridge of his nose. "…This guild will be the death of me."

Natsu crouched in front of the two Lisannas. "Which one of you is stronger?"

Both shook their heads. "Neither."

"…BORING," Natsu declared.

Gray leaned closer. "…Which one's scarier when angry?"

Both Lisannas slowly turned to Mirajane.

Mirajane smiled sweetly.

Gray immediately leaned back. "…Got it."

Cana squinted at Ren. "…So, Sun Boy. Which one's from another world?"

Ren gestured calmly. "…The one whose magic signature doesn't belong to this dimension."

Everyone stared.

"…That doesn't help," Cana said.

Edolas Lisanna raised her hand timidly. "…Me."

"Ohhh," Levy said, scribbling notes. "That explains the resonance distortion!"

"…Of course it does," Erza muttered.

Private Confessions

Later, on the guild balcony, Mirajane leaned against the railing, breathing slowly.

Ren joined her.

"…You're holding back," he said gently.

She didn't deny it.

"…I'm scared," she admitted. "…If I look too closely… I might realize how close I came to losing her."

[note - She is talking about Edolas Lissana]

Ren rested his elbows beside her. "…Fear doesn't mean you're weak."

"…I know," she said softly. "…But knowing doesn't make it quieter."

From inside, laughter erupted again—both Lisannas laughing this time.

Mirajane's breath steadied.

"…They're happy," she murmured.

"…So are you," Ren said.

She glanced at him. "…You always say things like that."

"…Because you deserve to hear them."

She smiled—real, unguarded.

"…Careful," she teased. "If you keep that up, I might flirt back."

He raised an eyebrow. "…Might?"

She leaned closer. "…You're very patient for someone who flirts with two girls."

"…I enjoy balance."

Erza's voice cut in flatly from behind them. "…You enjoy trouble."

Ren turned, unfazed. "…Only the honest kind."

Erza huffed—but didn't argue.

Lisanna Meets… Herself

That night, the two Lisannas lay side by side on the floor of Mirajane's room, staring at the ceiling.

"…Do you think," Edolas Lisanna asked quietly, "…that if I stay long enough, I'll become more like you?"

Earthland Lisanna thought for a moment. "…I think we'll just learn from each other."

"…I like that."

"…Me too."

They reached out—hands brushing, then holding.

Not mirrors.

Not copies.

Just two girls, sharing a name and a chance.

---

Fairy Tail Accepts the Impossible

By morning, the guild had already adjusted.

Natsu challenged both Lisannas to a race.

Elfman trained with both of them proudly.

Cana started calling them "Double Trouble."

And Fairy Tail, as always, made room.

Ren watched it all from his usual seat, sunlight warm beneath his skin.

> Two worlds touched, he thought.

And instead of breaking—this place welcomed it.

Mirajane laughed freely now, one arm around each sister.

Erza watched over them like a silent shield.

And for one perfect, chaotic day—

Fairy Tail felt whole.
