Chapter 21 - SPIKE OF FALL

[Chapter Header]

ARC: Back Attack Land

Nani lay on the floor looking like a corpse, as Ronika gazed down at him.

"You should have told me where Yuzana was when you had the chance," she said coldly, turning her back to leave him behind.

Out of nowhere, Nani's hand twitched, and he wheezed out a single word: "Kuchi!"

BAM!

The demonic mouth materialized again, but Ronika dodged it with a lightning-fast movement.

She looked back at him with pure disgust. "You filthy scum... are you still alive?"

Nani moved his hand frantically, summoning multiple mouths that swarmed Ronika from every angle.

With her two swords, she sliced through one mouth after another, cutting them into pieces.

As another mouth lunged, she leaped high into the air and drove both katanas into it, causing it to explode in a spray of blood.

She landed and delivered a powerful double-kick to the next one, making it burst instantly.

"I cannot die now!" Nani screamed in desperation. "Kuchi!"

A mouth appeared directly above Ronika while another formed beneath her feet.

Before she could react, Nani pressed his hands together in the shape of a maw and roared: "Light Mouth!"

He snapped his hands shut, and a colossal, glowing mouth swallowed Ronika whole.

The force of the attack was so great it shattered the walls and the glass windows of the skyscraper.

The massive mouth hung off the edge of the building, swaying in the violent wind.

Inside the "Light Mouth," Ronika was being crushed, struggling with all her might to break free from the pressure.

Nani prepared his hands once more for a final strike, thinking he had won.

In an instant, the Light Mouth exploded from the inside, and Ronika launched herself toward him like a rocket.

Blood and spirit energy splattered everywhere as Nani saw death flying straight at his face.

She slammed into him, driving both katanas deep into his shoulders with a sickening crunch.

Without stopping, she delivered a brutal headbutt to his forehead before ripping her blades out once again.

Nani stumbled back, drenched in his own blood, screaming like a madman. "I won't die like this! No... NO!"

Ronika watched him with a cold gaze as he staggered left and right, crashing into the walls in a frenzy.

"Please, Kuhi!" Nani roared at the top of his lungs. "Give me all your power! Take my entire body, just let me survive this!"

All at once, Ronika's breath hitched in her throat. Her muscles locked tight as her pupils dilated, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird.

A grotesque, ethereal mouth materialized out of thin air in front of Nani—it was the Devil Mouth itself, known as Kuhi.

"Are you certain?" Kuhi spoke, his voice vibrating with a dark, ancient hunger. "I will take everything. Your entire body will be mine."

"Just do it! Agree to it!" Nani pleaded, his eyes wide with terror. "I don't want to die here!"

Kuhi let out a chilling, mocking laugh. "You are a fool. You are practically dead anyway... your physical vessel is already destroyed. What is left for me to take?"

"Please... please... just one last time!" Nani begged, reaching out with his mangled stumps.

"Farewell," Kuhi whispered coldly.

"No! No! No! Don't leave me!" Nani shrieked as Kuhi began to fade into the shadows.

"Come back! Come back! I don't want to die! No—AAAGHHH!"

Without warning, Nani's body began to swell unnaturally, his skin stretching to the breaking point as his internal energy turned unstable.

BOOM!

His entire body exploded in a violent burst of flesh and bone, spraying blood across the entire room.

Ronika stood rooted to the spot, her jaw tight and her limbs heavy as lead, unable to even blink as she stared at the crimson remains of the man who had just been erased by his own power.

Ronika turned her body away and began to walk, leaving the carnage behind with a frozen gaze.

The scene shifted to Riko and Akos, who were trapped and helpless due to the Carbon Monoxide filling the air.

Baka had flooded the room with gas, forcing them to keep their hands over their mouths just to stay conscious.

Baka lunged at Akos, raining down brutal punches on his face while Akos struggled to keep his hands pressed against his mouth.

Baka grabbed Akos by the jaw, forcing his mouth open with savage strength.

As Akos fought back, Baka prepared to shove two explosive orbs down his throat.

In a split second, Riko moved, pulling his hand away from his own face to strike.

Riko delivered a powerful punch to Baka's face, sending him reeling back.

Akos stood frozen as Riko collapsed, blood trickling from his mouth as he struggled to breathe.

"Akos... don't fall..." Riko whispered, before his body went limp and he slumped over, motionless.

"Riko! Riko! Wake up! No, no... don't die!" Akos screamed, his voice filled with desperation.

Behind him, Baka burst into a cruel, mocking laughter. "Hahaha! Look at you... you look like a complete idiot!"

Akos snapped his head around, his eyes burning with pure rage as he stood up and lunged.

"You fool! You let go of your mouth! You're no hero!" Baka laughed, dodging the first strike.

But Akos followed up with a punch to the stomach so powerful it forced Baka to spit out blood.

Before Baka could react, Akos grabbed him by the throat and began slapping him across the face, left and right, over and over again.

Baka managed to grab Akos's arm and twisted it violently; Akos let out a scream of pure agony.

Baka delivered a sharp kick, sending Akos flying backward into a pile of broken chairs.

Baka raised his hands, preparing to clap and detonate his ultimate move, the TSAR BOMBA.

But Akos was faster; he tackled Baka by the legs, slamming him hard onto the floor.

Akos began to rain down a flurry of punches on Baka's face, left and right, until blood splattered everywhere across the ground.

As Akos was raining blows down on Baka, a sharp, organic spike—resembling a monstrous leg—pierced through the air and drove into Akos's forehead.

Akos froze instantly, and the entire room seemed to be swallowed by a void of pure darkness.

The leg lifted him up and turned him around, leaving Akos paralyzed as he stared at the horror before him.

A massive creature emerged, three meters tall, covered in coarse fur with patches of deathly white and obsidian black skin.

It had only one colossal eye in the center of its head; it was the Devil's Eye, known as Hitomi.

"How strange... to finally see the user of the Infinite Eyes," Hitomi spoke, his voice echoing like a hollow wind.

"The very day you were born, dozens of devils went into hiding or evolved just to survive in your era."

"But it is a pity," Hitomi continued coldly, "that your journey ends right here."

With a swift, brutal motion, Hitomi drove his spike-like leg deep into Akos's heart.

Akos remained frozen, his eyes wide with shock as his life force began to drain into the darkness.
