Chapter 3 - SHE’S GONE

(Angelo's POV)

I thought she'd be asleep.

Jay usually stayed up late, so when I pushed open her bedroom door that night, I expected to see her under the blanket with her headphones on.

"Jay?" I called quietly.

No answer.

The room was dark except for the hallway light behind me. I stepped inside and turned the lights on.

The bed was empty.

At first I didn't panic. Maybe she went to the kitchen.

But then I noticed something that made my stomach drop.

Her closet was open.

Half her clothes were gone.

Her suitcase was missing too.

My chest tightened.

"Jay?" I called again.

Nothing.

I walked around the room slowly, hoping she would suddenly appear from the bathroom or balcony.

But she didn't.

That's when I grabbed my phone and called Aries.

He answered after a few rings.

"Bro why are you calling this late?" he said sleepily.

"Is Jay with you?" I asked immediately.

"What? No."

My stomach dropped.

"You're sure?"

"Yes. Why?"

I looked around her empty room again.

"She's gone."

Aries went silent.

"What do you mean gone?"

"Her room is empty," I said. "Clothes gone. Suitcase gone."

Ten minutes later Aries arrived and we searched the house again.

Every room.

The backyard.

The street.

Nothing.

"Call Keifer," Aries said.

I clenched my jaw but dialed anyway.

Keifer picked up quickly.

His caller photo appeared on my screen — him leaning against a locker at school with that usual confident smirk.

Right now I hated that picture.

"Angelo?" he said. "What's wrong?"

"Jay's missing."

Silence.

"What?"

"She's gone."

I heard something crash on his side of the call.

"You're joking."

"I wish I was."

Within an hour everyone from Section E was involved.

Phones were ringing.

Messages were sent.

People kept asking the same question.

Where was Jay?

"Call her," someone said.

I dialed her number.

The number you are trying to reach is not available.

Aries tried too.

Same message.

"She changed her number," Aries said quietly.

That's when something inside me snapped.

I turned to Keifer.

"This is your fault!"

Everyone went silent.

Keifer frowned.

"What?"

"I told you to stay away from my cousin!" I shouted. "I warned you!"

Keifer's expression hardened immediately.

"You think this is only my fault?" he shot back.

"Yes, I do!"

Keifer laughed bitterly.

"No. Don't act like you don't know."

My fists clenched.

"Know what?"

Keifer looked around the room before speaking.

"The plan."

The room went quiet.

"What plan?" I demanded.

Keifer ran his hand through his hair.

"We were going to get revenge on Aries."

Aries' head snapped up.

"Revenge?" I said slowly.

Keifer continued.

"The idea was to hurt him through Jay."

My stomach dropped.

"What are you saying?"

Keifer sighed.

"The plan was for me to make Jay fall in love with me… and then break her."

For a moment no one spoke.

The words felt unreal.

"You used her?" I said quietly.

No one denied it.

"But things changed," Keifer said quickly. "I didn't expect to actually fall for her."

I shook my head in disbelief.

"You're unbelievable."

Keifer suddenly shouted back.

"And don't act like I'm the only villain here! Her own brother doesn't even accept her!"

The room fell silent again.

Everyone avoided eye contact.

Two days passed after that.

Still no sign of Jay.

Keifer barely slept.

He kept calling her number again and again like it would magically work.

Finally he called Edrix.

"If anyone can track her phone, it's him."

Edrix sat at his laptop typing quickly.

After a few minutes he stopped.

"I found the last signal."

Keifer stepped forward immediately.

"Where is she?"

Edrix looked up.

"The phone stopped two days ago."

"What do you mean stopped?"

Edrix sighed.

"The phone was dismantled."

Everyone froze.

No SIM.

No battery.

Nothing left to track.

Jay didn't just leave.

She made sure no one could ever find her.
