Elena's POV
"Just breathe, breathe," I whispered to myself, pressing my palm against my chest as my heart hammered wildly.
The cool air kissed my skin, settling my nerves enough to let me venture into the garden.
I found refuge against the stone wall, drinking in the pristine arrangement of gorgeous blooms—though I could only name the roses among them.
A deep breath escaped me as my mind wandered. What drove Minnie to betray Marcus like that?
"Only one way to get answers," I muttered, pulling up Minnie's contact.
The phone rang endlessly with no response. I tried repeatedly—still nothing.
Frustration bubbled up inside me, but I forced it down.
I'd deal with this mess later. Right now, I had to survive this train wreck of a dinner.
Steeling myself, I walked back through the hallway. When I entered the dining room, complete mayhem greeted me.
"...is none of his damn business!" Dorian was shouting at Lexie. "I handle my own affairs! Victor can stay out of it!"
