Chapter 5 - Hunters, Lessons, and the Voice of Light

 Chapter 5

The night grew colder.

Ji Young, Ji Min, and Kael walked deep into the forest.

Moonlight slipped through the leaves.

Shadows moved between the trees.

No one spoke.

Suddenly—

Kael raised his hand.

"Stop," he whispered.

Ji Young froze.

He felt it.

Something was watching them.

A low growl echoed.

Red eyes appeared in the darkness.

Three dark creatures stepped forward.

Their bodies were thin and twisted.

Black smoke rose from their skin.

"The hunters," Kael said softly.

"They've found us."

Ji Min's heart began to race.

"I'm scared…" she whispered.

Ji Young held her hand.

"Stay behind me," he said.

Kael took out two small blades.

"Watch carefully," he told Ji Young.

"This is your first lesson."

The creatures attacked.

One jumped forward.

Kael moved like lightning.

He rolled, slashed, and struck.

The creature screamed and vanished into smoke.

Another rushed toward Ji Min.

"Brother!" she cried.

Ji Young reacted without thinking.

He grabbed a fallen branch.

He stood his ground.

"Go away!" he shouted.

The creature struck.

Ji Young was thrown back.

Pain burned in his body.

But he stood up again.

"I won't run," he said.

Kael's eyes widened.

"Good," he whispered.

The last creature leaped.

Ji Min closed her eyes.

Something stirred inside her.

Warmth spread through her chest.

A soft voice echoed in her mind.

"Do not fear…"

Ji Min opened her eyes.

Light flowed from her hands.

It formed a glowing shield.

The creature hit the shield and vanished.

Silence returned.

Only their breathing remained.

Kael smiled slightly.

"You heard it," he said.

Ji Min looked confused.

"Heard… what?"

"The Voice of Light," Kael replied.

"It has begun to guide you."

They rested beside a fallen tree.

Kael cleaned his blades.

"Listen carefully," he said.

"Strength is not only power.

It is control."

He looked at Ji Young.

"You have courage," he continued.

"But courage without skill will kill you."

Ji Young nodded.

"I'll learn," he said.

"No matter how hard it is."

Kael pointed north.

"By tomorrow night,

we will reach the Sanctuary of Light."

Ji Min looked up.

"Will we be safe there?" she asked.

Kael was silent for a moment.

"Safer," he said.

"But not free from fate."

They walked again.

Hours passed.

Then—

They saw it.

A white tower rising from the mist.

Glowing symbols covered its walls.

Light floated like stars around it.

Ji Min felt her heart respond.

"It's calling me…" she whispered.

As they reached the gate,

her head suddenly hurt.

She fell to her knees.

"Ji Min!" Ji Young shouted.

A voice filled the air.

Gentle.

Ancient.

Powerful.

"Child of Light…

You have returned."

Everyone froze.

The Sanctuary had spoken.
