Dismissing the holographic screen, Arthur walked up to his father's corpse to pay his last respect. " I would find the cause of this catastrophe father, I would put an end to this wrongness and avenge you all."

He rose, wrath seething through his voice." And nothing would stop me, that's the final promise I make to you father." Lifting a pile of earth and debris, he buried his father together with his belief in morality.

Armed with the bloody concrete cone, he would survive. To ensure that survival he had to be sure on what he could do. He found a empty fallen structure which he considered safe.

Sitting in it he willed for his status screen to appear before him and it did.

Curious Arthur checked each of the functions and found almost all unavailable. The only available ones were Status, Equipment, Inventory, Map and Skills/Abilities.

Equipment showed a naked figure of him twice labeled as his skin, around the full body portrait of him were empty slots boxes. He didn't have what to put in those boxes so he moved on.

Inventory was a bit like equipment, however it was mostly slot boxes, numbering up to twenty. Map was a visual GPS of places he had been to or current stayed at.

After his awakening he hadn't moved, so it just showcased a marker which signified his position. Skills/Abilities where the most useful to him at the moment.

After reading the list of what he was capable of, Arthur felt his throat run dry. His imagination and mana pool was his only limit.

Walking out of the structure with unmatched confidence, he began heading back to the school. Holding tightly on the concrete cone, he moved with cautious precision.

He might be powerful but a single mistake could spell his end. Walking through the uneven terrain of debris was actually harder than it seemed, especially as he wanted to be stealthly.

Tripping of metal cans and falling head first into a summersaulted car, the growls of multiple zombie immediately echoed through barren landscape.

Watching as they emerged from houses, commercial buildings and even under the rumble of debris. Arthur felt his palms go cold. ' Too many.'

Climbing into the car to get a better view, he activated his Environmental Weaponization skill. His concrete cone hovered above his palm.

Clumsily he send his hand forward and the cone flew in the direction of his hand. A zombie fell moments later with an erupted head.

Staring at the myriad of silhouettes surrounding him, Arthur had his work cut out for him. He pointed his hand to another zombie and the cone followed piercing the undead's skull effortlessly.

Slowly he was understanding his new power. Turning in circles to spot the closest zombies, he took them down quickly. Nevertheless they were getting closer and Arthur would soon be overwhelmed.

He had to clear a path and fast. ' That's impossible! These things are things are unending.' Arthur had quite a lot of skills to help him escape this predicament, however he hadn't used them.

Not willing to put his faith on a skill he hadn't tested. He put his chances on the skill he was starting to master. Jumping towards the path to his school, the car he stood on floated behind him.

Before he could land to meet the first zombie, the car flew over his head and crashed into the zombies in that path. This set off an explosion which claimed the lives of more zombies but also attracted more.

Before they could fill the gap, he ran through the path and dashed away. His trusted cone orbited around him, killing zombies he saw in front of him.

' These things are still following me, they would follow me to the school if I don't lose them.' The growls and noises were growing into an unpleasant cacophony.

After running and killing for several minutes, Arthur was really starting to get really tired. When he leveled up, he felt his diminishing mana pool refill with a much deeper depth.

It didn't take long before he saw.

[ Fatigue : 70% ]

Then he knew he had to do something. Abruptly changing course he ran towards a building. ' Let this not be a bad idea, Arthur.' Stretching his hands, the doors burst open and his cone shot down the first zombie to stagger out.

He ran into the building and slammed the door shut. Utilizing his enhanced awakened strength, he quickly barricaded the door but not without making a lot of noise. ' That definitely strained my stamina.'

[ Fatigue : 90% ]

Ignoring the bangs on the door, he sat on a chair he observed the interior of the building and quickly knew it was a police station.

' What luck.' Before he could celebrate his good fortune, three zombies staggered out of the police stations inner rooms.

Arthur leaned back on his chair, his cone floating above his palm. As fast a bullet it pierced the skull of the first and only zombie on his left. There was only a room so he lowered his guard and faced the remaining.

Reaching for a metal pipe, Arthur rushed towards the zombie walking down the stairs leading to the first floor. While the cone took care of the other one.

Once he got into the proximity of the zombie, it lunged at him mindlessly. Arthur stepped back letting the zombie fall face first to the ground.

With one single motion the pipe struck the head of the zombie. After the first came the second till the zombie's head was a mash of bone, blood and brain matter.

Arthur rose with a manical smile on his blood covered face. If someone normal saw him at this moment, they would think he was a horror character who just committed a murder.

' I am starting to enjoy this.' He thought looking at the hovering cone. Wiping his face with his shirt he walked over to his cone and picked it up.

Sluggishly he walked towards the first room at the left, he scanned the room but saw nothing. He then went to the second room, no threat resided there.

The pungent smell of the zombies bodies started making him sick, further increasing his fatigue. When he climbed to the first floor he saw two staff rooms on the right and on the left were cells which faced each other.

Approaching the room labeled head officer, he heard the footsteps of multiple zombies. The room besides it had no creature in it but shelves, chairs and desks.

Too weak to mentally move anything apart from his cone, he lifted the shelves with his enhanced strength and blocked the head officer's office.

With that done he walked into one of the cells with a padlock and its key. He locked himself in and lay down on a bunk bed extremely tired.

His eyes slowly shut and he fell asleep for the first time in the apocalypse.
