Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Zenitsu Agatsuma

"It hurts!"

At this moment, the yellow-haired young man opened his eyes and cried out in pain.

Thud! Thud!

The two demons' bodies lost their support and fell to the ground, appearing right before the yellow-haired young man's eyes.

The yellow-haired young man froze for a moment, then immediately shrieked and jumped up.

"Ah!!! Demons!!!"

[The yellow-haired young man covered his mouth with both hands, screaming and jumping around in fear, then he saw Musashi sheathing his Nichirin Sword.]

[The yellow-haired young man immediately rushed behind Musashi, grabbed his arm, and cried tears of joy.]

"You killed these two demons, didn't you! Let me follow you! Please, you must let me follow you, otherwise, I will surely die here! I will! Save my life!"

He clung to Musashi's arm, shouting with tears and snot streaming down his face, as if he had found his savior.

Musashi was momentarily bewildered by this guy's behavior; it was clearly this yellow-haired young man who killed these two demons, yet he acted as if he had no idea.

Moreover, judging by his strength in easily killing two demons just now, surviving seven days here should clearly not be a difficult task.

"You killed these two demons yourself; it has nothing to do with me." Musashi pulled his arm out of the yellow-haired young man's grasp and told him truthfully.

Hearing Musashi's words, the yellow-haired young man temporarily stopped shouting, looking at Musashi with tears on his face, a look of disbelief.

"I don't care, anyway, I'm going to follow you." The yellow-haired young man was now convinced that Musashi had slain these two demons.

"Suit yourself. If you want to follow, then follow." Seeing this, Musashi said no more and let him be.

The yellow-haired young man immediately cheered up when he heard Musashi agree.

"That's great! My name is Zenitsu Agatsuma, what about you?"

"Musashi." Musashi replied.

After speaking, he chose a direction and began searching for other demons on the mountain.

Zenitsu saw this and quickly followed.

"Musashi, where are we going now? Shouldn't we find a place to hide and wait until dawn before going out to find food?"

Zenitsu asked Musashi with some curiosity.

"To find demons, then kill demons." Musashi replied.

Zenitsu stopped in his tracks, laughing incredulously, "Hahaha, you must be joking. I didn't realize you had such a sense of humor."

"Of course, I'm not joking. Aren't we here to participate in this Final Selection to join the Demon Slayer Corps? And isn't the Demon Slayer Corps' purpose to kill demons?" Musashi turned his head and asked Zenitsu with some confusion.

Zenitsu saw that Musashi didn't seem to be joking and immediately became anxious, earnestly persuading him, "But we aren't members of the Demon Slayer Corps yet. The task for this Final Selection is just to survive here for seven days to pass. There's absolutely no need to hunt demons, right?"

Those who wish to join the Demon Slayer Corps are usually people who have been persecuted by demons; their hatred for demons is extremely strong, and they are determined to eradicate all demons in the world, joining the Demon Slayer Corps for this purpose.

However, there are some exceptions. Zenitsu, for example, was heavily in debt. The former Sound Hashira saw his talent, paid off his debts, and took him as a disciple. Then, at the Sound Hashira's request, he came to participate in the Final Selection to join the Demon Slayer Corps.

Having never seen demons before, his hatred for them should not have been that strong. Perhaps this is also why he was able to accept Nezuko, who is a demon, so quickly.

For him, this Final Selection might just be a test from Kuwajima Grandpa, and it would be enough to just pass it. It's not surprising for him to have such a thought.

"If you're scared, find a place to hide yourself. I will exterminate all the demons on this mountain."

Musashi heard Zenitsu's persuasion but was completely unmoved, turning and running in the chosen direction.

Zenitsu watched Musashi's gradually receding figure, torn, but finally made up his mind.

"Wait for me, Musashi!"

Zenitsu called out and chased after Musashi...

"Musashi, if a demon appears, you must protect me! I'm very weak, any demon can kill me. If you don't protect me, I will definitely die here!"

Musashi walked through the forest, searching for traces of demons. Zenitsu followed behind, tugging at his sleeve, chattering incessantly. He had said similar things at least ten times in this short period. Musashi found it hard to connect the current him with the person who had just cut down two demons with a single strike.

At first, Musashi would comfort him and say he would protect him, but now he completely ignored him.

The two walked together when suddenly, Zenitsu's ears twitched, and then he suddenly pointed in a direction and shrieked in terror.

"Ah!!! There's a demon over there!"

Musashi heard his cry and immediately looked in the direction he pointed, but he didn't find any trace of a demon.

"Where?" Musashi asked.

"Just about two hundred meters ahead, I heard it!" Zenitsu tugged at Musashi's sleeve and replied with certainty.

Musashi chose to believe Zenitsu's words, drew his Nichirin Sword, and ran in the direction Zenitsu indicated.

"Wait for me!" Zenitsu also quickly followed suit.

Indeed, after advancing about two hundred meters, Musashi saw the demon Zenitsu had spoken of.

Crunch, crunch...

A giant demon, two heads taller than an average person, was squatting on the ground, gnawing on something. By the moonlight, Musashi clearly saw what it was gnawing: a leg.

On the ground in front of it was also a corpse, holding a Nichirin Sword, its neck already twisted.

The bloody scene reminded Musashi of the tragedy that had befallen his own village.

Zenitsu also arrived at this moment, and upon seeing the scene before him, he couldn't make a sound.

"Creatures like you truly shouldn't exist in this world." Musashi said furiously, then raised his blade and charged forward.

The giant demon turned its head upon hearing the movement and raised its muscular right arm to strike at Musashi.

However, its movements were already within Musashi's expectations. Musashi instantly unleashed two slashes: one severed the giant demon's arm, and the other directly sliced through its neck.

"So... so strong..."

Zenitsu looked at Musashi, who had instantly killed a demon twice his size, with an admiring gaze.

The giant demon's body gradually turned to ash. Musashi sheathed his Nichirin Sword and walked towards the corpse on the ground. Looking at the mutilated body, he slowly clasped his hands together.

Please ascend to heaven.

After silently offering a prayer for it, Musashi carved a piece of broken wood on the ground into the shape of a shovel and then began to dig.

"I'll help too."

Zenitsu saw this and walked over as well. Although he was a little afraid of the corpse on the ground, he did not back down.

"Mm." Musashi turned and smiled at Zenitsu.
