Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Surprise Attack

The darkness of the early morning and the rainy weather provided excellent cover, and perhaps with a bit of luck, the helicopter formation has not been noticed by the UDF since taking off from the frontline base, nor has it been attacked by the mimics.

Meanwhile, in the UH-53E cabin located in the center of the formation, which can accommodate nearly 60 people.

Boom! Boom!

Click! Click!

The cabin was filled not only with engine noise, but also with the sounds of friction and collision of metal parts of the gun, such as the lever and magazine cover.

The cabin was filled with mercenaries dressed in black combat uniforms and Level IV body armor, who were methodically checking their weapons and equipment.

The vast majority of these mercenaries are descendants of the security team led by Arthur Morgan and others in the late 19th century. They knew the secret that their boss was an immortal and through their boss they also learned about the characteristics of mimicry in advance.

As for Sui Yang, he sat near the cockpit, and his attire and appearance were no different from those of the mercenaries beside him.

Of course, Sui Yang could also wear a baseball cap, or go without any helmet or protective gear, to highlight his special status...

(T/L: Pretty smug of him)

But carrying out missions with trusted confidants is a risky but necessary decision. If you add personalization to it, wouldn't that be telling the enemy, Come and kill me?

Although individual mimics lack self- awareness and intelligence, they can still distinguish who the commander is.

At this moment, Sui Yang confirmed that the safety on his personal 1911 was off, and then put it back into the holster hanging on his right leg.

Then, he slightly turned his left hand and, using the tablet computer on the inside of his forearm and the dynamic map displayed on the screen, confirmed that the formation was still five kilometers away from the Louvre.

The three crew members, who were operating the 50 caliber rotary machine guns on both sides of the cockpit and the tail, and whose helmets had HUD displays, immediately became alert and placed their thumbs on the trigger buttons as they realized they were about to reach the target area.

"Enemy attack! Prepare for battle!"

Ri-Buzz!!!

Once the AH-1W gunner issued a warning on the communication channel, the unique, crisp, and pleasant gunshot of the rotary machine gun filled the cabin and surrounding area.

"Everyone." Sensing the sudden change in the battle situation, Sui Yang addressed all those involved in the operation through the headset connected to his handheld radio: "You are the core members of Atlas, the elite. It is an honor to work with you. I only have two things to say: First, victory in this battle is imperative, second, go back and get a raise, and finally..."

"Eliminate all the alien scum that stand in our way, except for Alpha!"

"Hoo-ha!"

"Attention all personnel!" the UH-53E pilot shouted over the communication channel. "Landing in 30 seconds!"

Meanwhile, the view outside the cabin was quite splendid but it wasn't the fireworks and firecrackers people set off to celebrate New Year's Day.

The fire and explosions surrounding and occurring between helicopter formations, the gunfire and cannon flames from the dense barrage of ammunition being poured onto the ground by guns and machine guns, and the mimicry of hiding half their bodies in the soil and using their own cores to launch there projectiles, some use acidic projectiles, others using bone spikes or rigid tendrils to shoot down the threat in the sky.

The AH-1W, equipped with a three-barreled 20mm cannon and four 70mm rocket launchers, was responsible for escorting the formation and provided the main firepower.

Boom! Boom!

The AH-1W directly exposes the mimicry and the land where they hide.

The four UH-1s deliberately surrounding and protecting the UH-53E had already opened their side doors, making it easier for the crew to operate the 7.62 or .50 caliber machine guns, as well as for the mercenaries to suppress the ground with their respective weapons.

In the movie, Omega did not expect that humans would know its hiding place, so the defense forces deployed around Paris were not dense, which gave William Cage and others an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

Although the same is true in reality, even if it is not dense, there are still hundreds of thousands of them.

For people living in a stable world, 30 seconds is just a blink of an eye, enough time to watch two videos. But for a helicopter formation, it feels like an eternity.

Boom!!

Faced with the mimics special anti air attacks, a UH-1 on the right side of the formation was unable to evade and was hit in the tail and cockpit by an acidic and bone projectile, causing a violent explosion that caused the damaged fuselage to spin and crash to the ground.

The AH-1W, which was responsible for firepower output, was targeted by the mimicry and instantly turned into a ball of fire. The explosion also affected another UH-1H.

However, the glass pyramid is already in sight.

The UH-1H, which had been affected by the explosion and was teetering on the brink of collapse, managed to make a successful emergency landing near the Arc de Triomphe on the west side of the Louvre, thanks to the pilot's skill.

Immediately afterwards, several mercenaries climbed out of the cabin, some swaying as they stood up, others slapping their helmets hard, trying to regain their senses, some are raising there guns just in case mimics decided to ambush them.

Within seconds, after recovering, the crash survivors used the UH-1H wreckage and the low walls of the nearby green belt as cover to engage in a firefight with the mimics approaching from a distance.

Not only them, but the remaining UH-1H and UH-53E also successfully reached the north plaza of the glass pyramid.

"Dismount now!"

As soon as the three helicopters touched down, the mercenaries poured out of the cabins.

"Hudson! Hicks! Wiggle your fat asses! Take your men to twenty meters to the east and north, and keep watch there!"

One of the officers, whose shoulder insignia bore two red horizontal bars and whose appearance was strikingly similar to Arthur Morgan, immediately issued the order.

Upon receiving instructions, the more than 30 mercenaries split into two teams and rapidly advanced east and north. They dispersed and defended about 20 meters from the landing zone, forming a crossfire line with the crash site at the Arc de Triomphe and the landing zone to maximize the kill effect.

Meanwhile, the three helicopters that had completed their passenger unloading mission took off again, hovering above the Louvre to provide fire support to ground troops.

"Pete! Hall! Take your men and stay here. The rest of you, come with me to escort the boss to the target location."

After the officer gave the order, the remaining less than sixty mercenaries were also divided into two groups, with one group remaining to guard the landing area.

The other group consisted of three people in a small team, maintaining a distance of about six meters from each other, escorting the officer and Sui Yang as they quickly approached the glass pyramid.

The pyramid, which should have been clean, bright, and filled with artwork, was ruined due to the war.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

The water flowed through the broken glass, cascading like a waterfall onto the cracked floor tiles. Before it could gather, it continued to flow towards the center of the hall, a sinkhole that appeared to have been smashe" open, due to gravity and the angle of inclination.

Thump! Thump!

The heavy thud of military boots echoed throughout.

The mercenaries entered the area in shifts, pointing their guns at their respective assigned areas, and dispersed in groups of three.

Two of the teams, without needing to consider any threats in the hall, went straight to the sinkhole, surrounded it, and peered down to see the underground parking lot twenty meters below.

That is precisely where the mimicry brain, Omega, is hiding.
