"I remember the Naruto manga should be around here somewhere…"
Sam flipped through the interface, then casually reached into the glowing screen and pulled out a book.
That's right.It was Naruto.
"What… what is going on here?"
Elsa stared at the unbelievable scene, completely stunned by Sam's casual move.
Space magic? She'd never seen anything like this before.
"Huh? You can take stuff out of it?"
Feng Baobao curiously poked the glowing screen with her finger, but her hand went straight through it as if nothing was there.
Sam couldn't help laughing at her reaction.
This was his authority.Did she really think she could just copy him and pull things out too?
"Could this be some kind of space-time ninjutsu?"
Kurama instinctively classified it as a technique. After all, his world did have time-space jutsu.
"This is your future."
Sam handed the Naruto volume to Kurama and said with a smile, "It's a selection of future scenes shown from your perspective. Not the whole story."
The manga only went up to the point where Uchiha Obito released the Nine-Tails and roared at Konoha.
It wasn't that Sam didn't want to show the entire Naruto series. It was because the Trans-Dimensional Mercenary Guild wouldn't allow it.
That guild was insanely money-hungry.
All the manga and resources came from them. Did anyone seriously think they wouldn't find ways to squeeze coins out of you?
Dream on.
Sam didn't really mind their shady tactics anyway. After all, he wanted to make some money too.
Guild coins were incredibly useful. As far as Sam knew, members could earn them in two ways.First, by selling copies of their own items to the guild.Second, by taking on guild commissions.
And Sam could take a cut from all of that.Just one percent, but still.
He wasn't sure whether that commission rate would increase as the guild expanded.
More importantly, any abilities sold to the guild by members could be purchased by Sam at a ten percent discount.
That part alone was huge.
Kurama: "..."
He really didn't want to admit it, but when he saw the cover showing all nine tailed beasts fist-bumping Uzumaki Naruto, his heart twitched a little.
By now, he fully understood that the Trans-Dimensional Mercenary Guild was real.
Because that fist-bump was something only the nine tailed beasts did when they truly acknowledged someone.
Almost no one else in the world even knew about that gesture.
Meanwhile, Feng Baobao and Elsa were far less cautious than Kurama. They directly grabbed the manga and started flipping through the parts where Kurama appeared.
"You're really not going to look?"
Sam chuckled at Kurama. "This is about your past and your future. The other two have already seen it. Don't tell me you want to be the only one who doesn't know what happens to yourself."
"Only me who doesn't know my own future?"
Kurama frowned deeply.
If this guy was telling the truth, then everyone else would know his past and future while he stayed in the dark.
That would be the ultimate joke.
"Hmph. Fine. I'll take a look, just this once."
Kurama gritted his teeth and picked up the Naruto volume from the table.
If this really was his future, then it was a huge win.
Watching Kurama fall straight into the classic "this smells kind of good" trap, Sam smiled.
The 'just try it once' rule truly knew no species boundaries.
Kurama had been sealed inside the jinchūriki Uzumaki Mito for over a decade now.
Beyond his hatred toward humans, he also endured a loneliness most beings could never tolerate.
So even if it meant falling into Uchiha Madara's scheme again, as long as he could escape the jinchūriki, what did it matter?
Worst case…
Worst case, he'd just get screwed over by Uchiha Madara one more time!!!
…
Because Kurama didn't actually have many scenes, since he spent most of the time sealed inside a host, and because the guild cut the manga right around the Nine-Tails incident, his appearances were even fewer.
Which meant that just a few minutes later…
"AAAAAAH! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, UCHIHA MADARA!!!"
Kurama slammed the manga onto the table and let out an enraged roar.
The guild's editing was almost maliciously precise.
After the fake Uchiha Madara, aka Uchiha Obito, summoned the Nine-Tails, they even zoomed in on the three-tomoe Sharingan reflected in Kurama's eyes.
In the future scenes he saw, Kurama realized he would be controlled by a masked man claiming to be Uchiha Madara, released to destroy Konoha, and forced to take the blame.
Of course he was furious.
Who the hell wants to carry a random, massive blame like that?
Especially not someone as short-tempered as Kurama.
After finishing the manga, Elsa and Feng Baobao both looked at Kurama with eyes full of sympathy.
Feng Baobao said, "Poor little dummy. Getting treated like a pet and locked up for all those years."
Even though she was currently pretty much emotionless, she still felt a genuine twinge of pity for him.
After all, despite how ferocious Kurama was now, he had been ridiculously cute when he was young.
The manga even showed him in front of the Sage of Six Paths, obedient like a little kitten.
"That little fox really is pitiful,"
Elsa, the compassionate future queen, said softly as she looked at Kurama. "But… are people in your world all that powerful?"
Thinking back to the scene where Uchiha Madara controlled the Nine-Tails to fight Senju Hashirama, her worldview felt completely shattered.
That wasn't people fighting.
That was two gods throwing hands.
"Who are you calling a little fox?!"
Kurama instantly bristled. "I've lived for more years than I can even remember, and you call me a little fox?"
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry!"
Elsa quickly apologized when she saw Kurama explode in anger.
She still hadn't fully relaxed around others.
Maybe it was because she had isolated herself for far too long, locking herself away from people.
"I think 'little fox' sounds pretty good~"
Sam recalled Kurama's adorable childhood appearance and burst out laughing.
Kurama: "..."
This was getting out of hand.
Did he have no dignity left at all?
If chakra worked here, he'd have blasted Sam's face with a few Tailed Beast Bombs already.
"....."
