The Opening Of A New World

In a world where all mystical beings exist. I was a grim reaper Death himself, specifically the prince Heir to the throne, my meanness and rudeness, made everyone hate me. My skull-like features were scary, my wings were ripped and broken, with black details. There were kingdoms, each with its own king. The kingdom of Darkness was an enemy to the kingdom of the gods for centuries. One day, while I was exploring in a forest, I accidentally bumped into someone. 'Azrael?' the familiar voice said. I looked up slowly as the familiar voice was the prince of life.`` oh it's just you Phanes'' i said before moving my scythe lower to the ground not as a threat. ``why are you out here you know what will happen if the gods find out your roaming on their land. ``i'm on the gods land? I thought I was still in my kingdom. Maybe I let my mind wander too far'' (shit am i stupid) Phanes looks at him before speaking in a low tone. ``Azrael you need to hurry out the quickest way to your left and keep going straight and hurry the gods can't see us together'' I looked up at him as I nodded slightly before turning away and walking but I was stopped by Phanes' voice behind. ``Azrael wait'' I turn around slowly as I look over at his flowy white long hair and the plants around him healing from me being there. ``yes?'' Phanes hesitates for a second before clearing his throat. ``Meet me at dawn by our tree?'' he asks almost like we would say no to him. ``Of course I'll see you at dawn,'' I say before turning away and walking back to my kingdom. Once i get back into my kingdom a list pops up near me as i grab it reading the names as take the stairs to the people of the living as i follow the black trail to the first name on my list as follow it and it comes to a end i notice a dog laying on the side of the road near its once alive body. (oh you poor thing) i approached the dog as i kneel down to my knees. ``i need to get back to my owner do you know where my owner is i need to protect them im there guard dog.'' The dog whimpered slightly as the dog looked up at Azrael, the dog's collar showing a name,Pearl . ``oh Pearl can't stay here my dear you must move on but i will let you say your goodbyes they won't be able to see or feel you but they will know your presents is there with them protecting them in their heart'' The dog Pearl looks up at him with a slow nod. ``Thank you Death'' the two walked to the dog's old home as there was an older lady on a rocking chair rocking slowly back and forth. Pearl the dog sits beside me as I watch, letting them take some time. ``go ahead dear say your goodbyes'' I watched the dog walk over to the older lady and gently try to nudge the lady's leg but it went through. ``goodbye'' i hear pearl whisper to the lady as i stand there watching pearl walk back towards me looking up their ears droopy and tail down as they sit in front of me.``I'm ready now'' I nod gently as I move my scythe and make it touch Pearl's top of their head as they slowly start to fade in the wind. ``have a nice rest my dear you deserve it'' i say as i check my list marking pearls name off before going to the others and finishing my task. As I finish my last task and I make it back to my kingdom as I look towards the sun as I notice it's turning into dawn I make my way to the tree. Me and life are meeting at only to find no phanes. (Maybe he's just late?) I thought as I set my scythe against the trunk of the tree as I sat down on the grass leaning on the tree as the grass that was once alive slowly weathered to death. I grabbed a red flower from the ground as it weathered to death as well as weeping in my hand as I watched the sky holding on to the flower waiting for phanes to show. ``sorry i'm late Hermes wanted to talk with me before I left.'' I heard his voice and I immediately stood up and held out the weathered flower. ``that's quite alright i wasn't waiting too long'' Phanes smiled softly as he took the flower from me as the flower grew back into a beautiful red flower and not the weathered weeping broken one it once was. ``thank you for the flower and thank you for understanding as well you know Hermes once he's talking he won't stop until he gets his point though'' phanes chuckled lightly as i would as well with him for a second before me and his sit at our spots. My spot was dead and weathered while phanes was alive with flowers and buzzing bees around him as the wind hit his long white hair almost perfectly as it flowed with such grace and beauty. Phanes gently takes the flower that I gave him, tucking it behind his ear making him look more beautiful than he normally would be.``So how was your job today?'' Phanes asked me as he looked at me. ``well it went well i did have to help this dog named Pearl move on she was such a sweet dog she only wanted to see her owner one last time before she moved on so i let her and she told me that she was ready and i helped her move on and forward'' i say as i look back up at the sky ``she will have fun up their running in her own little world and i'll make sure of that'' Phanes says gently as the sun finally rises and Phanes stands up.``well its my time to go it was nice chatting with you again.'' I look up at him as I stand up,grabbing my scythe and putting it to my side.``yeah nice chatting with you again Phanes also do you know when's the next meeting?'' Phanes looks at me running a hand through his hair gently thinking for a second before speaking.`` It's next Thursday. Why are you asking? Are we actually going to see the prince of Death show up to a meeting for once?'' I laugh slightly before answering. ``Maybe we will see if I feel like it.'' Phanes smiles slightly before turning. ``im hoping you will show up i'll be expecting you'' and with that Phanes leaves with a trail of flowers following behind as his see through cape follows with golden flecks on it flowing in the wind.(why can't i be myself around you without the gods being upset?) I sigh as I turn away and walk back to my kingdom. As I walked the plants that were once alive from phanes presence now dying with each step I take. As I made it to my kingdom's castle I walked into the castle. The castle was grey and dark unlike the gods castle it was bright and happy looking as mine was depressing. I walk along the castle's walls as I walk into the garden that was a maze of rose bushes as i walked i into the maze making it into the middle where a tree held a swing i walk over as i set my scythe down against the tree as i sat on the sing slowly swinging on as i look up at the sky watching the clouds above. ``Why can't I just think of him like a friend, it would never work anyway the gods would never let that happen and mother would be the most mad about it'' I sigh slightly as i watch my cold breath disappear into the sky. ``I can't live like this i need to tell him but I'll wait for the right moment.'' I said as I looked at my hands in my lap as I closed my eyes, closing my flat hands into balls.
