Grey thought to himself, the thought like a bitter sting on his mind. He forced his gaze to Marsel, forcing the words past his lips, "We're working on our future together, and we're so close to grabbing that future we want."
Marsel went quiet for a long moment, his gaze pulling away from Grey's as if he needed the distance before he finally forced himself to speak.
"Okay, then." he said, "But... After this second incident, I don't think I can stand being in this place anymore," he continued, the edges of his voice fraying slightly, "So maybe there's one thing you can do for me."
Even before Grey heard what it was, a strange readiness settled over him. At least he could do something for Marsel after everything Marsel had done for him.
"You can call it a payback for what you wanted to pay me with money, or you can call it just help, however way you want," Marsel added.
