The impact was sudden and close. His hands landed against a hard chest, stopping him from moving any further.
Where his palms pressed, he felt the heart beneath his touch beating fast against his hands.
Grey's own heart reacted at once. It began to race just as fiercely, and his body instantly responded to the person standing in front of him.
Everything in him pulled forward, urging him closer, as though distance itself was wrong. At the same time, the mark on his neck pulsed violently.
It throbbed with a force that made his breath catch, as if it had recognized its owner instantly.
That reaction alone told Grey who the person was, even before he looked up at them.
