Chapter 30 - chapter 30

I used to hope that he would be good to me.

Now, I only hope that he will allow me to be good to him.

I just want to spoil him...

Am I going crazy? *TAT*

-From "Su Zai Zai's Little Fairy Diary"

The curtains were tightly closed, and the room was dim.

Only the faint light from a phone was visible.

Zhang Lu let patiently wait.

The phone vibrated, and he glanced down at it.

He quickly stood up, walked over to Su Su, and squatted down beside it.

Zhang Lu gently patted its head and asked with a smile, "Do you want to go out for a walk?"

Before going out, Zhang Lu went into Lin Mao's room.

Lin Mao was typing on his computer and didn't look up when he noticed Zhang Lu entering.

Zhang Lu stood there for a moment before speaking softly.

"Uncle, I want to take the college entrance exam in Z City."

Lin Mao's hands paused as he turned to look at him.

After a brief silence, Lin Mao sighed and said, "The proof required for taking the exam in Z City is a lot, and your household registration is in B City. Besides, your parents aren't here."

"I'll think of a way," he said.

Zhang Lu was silent for a while and then nodded, "Okay."

Just as he was about to turn around and leave, Lin Mao spoke again.

"A-Rang, don't let it affect you too much."

Lin Mao withdrew his gaze and said seriously, "You've already done very well."

Zhang Lu forced a smile and responded in a low voice.

"Where are you going?" Lin Mao suddenly asked.

Zhang Lu paused and slowly said, "Taking Su Su out for a walk."

He thought he had gotten away with it.

But in the next second, Lin Mao continued to ask.

"The little girl who taught you to ride a bike last time, who is she?"

"Ah, I saw her when I got off work."

Lin Mao confidently came to a conclusion, "Looks like a girlfriend."

Zhang Lu finally spoke, his expression a bit unnatural.

"She's not."

"Oh."

Quickly, Zhang Lu added, "She's only fifteen."

A year had passed, so she was probably sixteen by now.

But she was still too young.

So young that he felt just touching her would feel like a crime.

Su Zai Zai was assigned to the intensive humanities class.

Her new deskmate was Wang Nan, who had been in the same class as her before.

Wang Nan walked in from outside and sat back down, speaking with a bit of frustration.

"Hey, Su Zai Zai, I heard we're having military training next week..."

Su Zai Zai's pen paused, and she turned her head in disbelief to look at him.

"Didn't they say military training was canceled? Why this semester..."

"I don't know, it seems that they've scheduled both military training and agricultural education, starting Monday morning."

Su Zai Zai immediately got up and walked out of the room.

The intensive science class was right next to the humanities class.

Zhang Lu sat in the last row of the first group, near the back door.

Su Zai Zai called out to him, "Rang Rang."

Zhang Lu turned his head and looked over.

Leaning against the doorframe, Su Zai Zai spoke to him, "It seems like we have military training next week."

Zhang Lu didn't react much, just nodded.

"But it's better to have military training now than in September, when it would be scorching."

"Yeah."

Su Zai Zai thought for a moment and continued, "I heard the research institute area is really sunny. I'll bring sunscreen for you over the weekend. Make sure to use it during the training."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Lu frowned, "I won't use it, don't bring it."

Su Zai Zai was silent for a while, then said, "Do you think using sunscreen makes you feel too feminine compared to the other boys?"

"..." He didn't answer, but it was clear she had hit the mark.

"Rang Rang, you just don't understand."

"What?"

"Other boys don't use it because no one buys it for them," Su Zai Zai said with a grin.

"So, do you want it or not?"

Su Zai Zai stared at him until he turned his head back.

Then, in a muffled voice, he said.

"...Okay."

The first day at the agricultural research institute, military training began.

The instructor, after giving a long stern speech, started collecting phones.

He held a burlap sack, waiting in front.

Su Zai Zai obediently took out her phone from her bag.

She walked up to the instructor and placed her phone in the sack.

After changing into the military training uniform, the instructor led the intensive humanities class to one of the training grounds.

Once there, Su Zai Zai noticed that Zhang Lu was training on the ground right next to their class.

Because of this, she purposely stood in the second-to-last row.

Military training was the ugliest; she needed to find a way to communicate with her beautiful friend...

To not let him look over here.

Early the next morning.

In her sleep, Su Zai Zai felt uncomfortable. When she woke up, she felt a heavy sensation in her lower abdomen, and a bad feeling came over her.

It was still early, and her dormmates were still asleep.

Su Zai Zai quietly got out of bed and walked outside.

When she reached the bathroom, she saw that her period had indeed started.

Su Zai Zai usually didn't feel much during her period, except on the first day.

On the first day, the pain was enough to torment her.

She put on a sanitary pad, washed up, and returned to the dorm.

Her dormmates gradually woke up one by one.

Su Zai Zai lay back on her bed to rest for a while and unknowingly fell asleep.

Xiao Xiao, who had been assigned to the intensive humanities class with her, came back from the bathroom and immediately shook her awake, saying, "Zai Zai, get up quickly. It's almost nine o'clock, and if we're late, the instructor will remember us!"

Su Zai Zai was a bit dazed but quickly got up and put on her shoes.

The two of them rushed out the door.

As they were nearing the training ground, Xiao Xiao noticed something, "Zai Zai, where's your hat?"

Su Zai Zai was startled and instinctively touched her head.

"I..." She was anxious, thinking as she walked, "I think I left it in the bathroom..."

"What should we do?"

Su Zai Zai hesitated for a moment and said, "I'll go back and get it..."

"There's no time." Xiao Xiao pulled her into the lineup and whispered, "Let's see what the instructor says. It's the first day; maybe he'll make an exception."

Su Zai Zai nodded but didn't say anything.

As the whistle blew, the instructor approached.

He bent down to place his water bottle on the ground and then scanned the group with a cold expression, "Stand straight."

The whole class obediently stood still.

"Stand for fifteen minutes, no moving."

"If you need to move, report first."

The instructor spoke as he circled around them.

He quickly noticed Su Zai Zai, who wasn't wearing a hat.

His expression darkened as he walked up to her.

"Where's your hat?"

"I told you yesterday, not a single item-hat, shirt, pants, belt, shoes-should be missing."

Su Zai Zai softly said, "You did."

"Then why didn't you wear it?"

Su Zai Zai, who was feeling increasingly uncomfortable due to her period, responded weakly, "...I forgot."

His voice grew louder, "How come you didn't forget yourself?"

Just as Su Zai Zai was about to explain that she wasn't feeling well, she saw someone running towards her.

Behind him, another instructor was shouting angrily, "Did I tell you to move?"

Zhang Lu ran up to Su Zai Zai.

Breathing slightly heavily, he placed his hat on her head.

The hat was warm from the sun and a bit damp with his sweat.

Su Zai Zai was completely stunned.

Zhang Lu said nothing and simply walked back.

The instructor didn't make things difficult for Su Zai Zai, but he looked at Zhang Lu with interest.

Zhang Lu's instructor, with a cold face, watched him return.

He didn't let him rejoin the group, instead repeating in a stern voice, "Did I tell you to move?"

Zhang Lu softly replied, "No, sir."

Then the instructor spoke again, ordering, "Get ready for push-ups."

Zhang Lu immediately dropped down and held the position without moving.

Su Zai Zai asked the instructor for permission to rest under theshade of a tree.

She stared at Zhang Lu.

While she felt touched, she also felt sad.

Seeing Zhang Lu being punished made her feel really sad.

The instructor beside him sneered and said, "Do you think what you did was cool?"

Su Zai Zai lowered her eyes and murmured,

"It was definitely cool."
