Chapter 15 - chapter 15

I hope he can be a little happier.

"Su Zai Zai the Little Fairy's Diary"

The day after the school sports meet.

Su Zai Zai sat under her class's tent, sneakily staring at Zhang Lu Rang, who was about thirty meters away.

The tents were set up around the track in the order of the classes, so Class 1's tent was positioned at about ten o'clock from whereClass 9's tent was.

From a distance, Zhang Lu Rang was sitting among a group of boys. While the others were chatting and laughing, he had his head down, holding a book in his hands.

From this angle, all she could see was his black, tousled hair and his slightly pursed lips.

He had already changed back into his blue and white striped school uniform, looking fresh and bright.

An hour later, Zhang Lu Rang finally moved.

He stood up, put his book into his backpack, and started walking toward the restrooms.

Su Zai Zai quickly got up, smoothing her hair as she ran.

She soon caught up to him and jumped in front of him with a playful grin. "Hey!"

Zhang Lu Rang glanced at her but didn't respond.

She walked beside him for a while.

As soon as she was next to him, Su Zai Zai's mind went blank.

All the things she had prepared to say suddenly vanished.

This silence...

She decided to start some small talk.

"I think it's great how you are."

"What?"

"I mean, it's a good habit that you don't need someone to accompany you to the restroom."

This just made things more awkward.

So, Su Zai Zai decided to take a wild shot: "Zhang Lu Rang, have you ever lied?"

"Mm." Zhang Lu Rang casually responded.

Su Zai Zai pressed on: "Have you ever scored over thirty in English?"

"...Mm."

Hearing the hesitation in his answer, Su Zai Zai's heart skipped a beat.

It seemed she had touched on a sore spot for the handsome guy...

She licked her lips, a bit flustered, and added, "Actually, scoring low isn't a big deal. Let me tell you, I've never scored over a hundred in physics and chemistry combined."

"I've been trying to memorize the periodic table since middleschool and still can't get it right."

יין

"I really don't know what the unit for acceleration is."

Zhang Lu Rang raised an eyebrow, puzzled, "What are you trying to say?"

"Can't you tell?" Su Zai Zai felt a bit frustrated.

"Mm."

Su Zai Zai scratched her head, feeling so anxious she almost jumped.

"To praise you and make you look good, I've basically called myself an idiot, and you still don't get it."

"Do you really believe I don't understand such simple things? That's just ridiculous!"

Zhang Lu Rang couldn't hold back anymore and said in a low voice, "But you really are like that."

If it wasn't just flattery.

The truth is, she really is like that.

Su Zai Zai: ""

They fell into silence again.

Even after being called out, Su Zai Zai didn't feel embarrassed.

She hadn't forgotten her original purpose, so she continued her questioning.

"Have you ever lied to me?"

"Mm."

Su Zai Zai: "..."

Does he have to be so honest?

How on earth can I get him to lie?

And...

Su Zai Zai put on a disapproving look: "Zhang Lu Rang, you can't keep doing this."

"You always just respond with 'Mm.' It's too dismissive."

"Be a little more enthusiastic. If you don't want to say much, you can at least add one more syllable."

"For example, 'Mm-hm."

After saying this, Su Zai Zai suddenly felt something was off.

She quickly covered her cheeks, mumbling, "...Suddenly, this feels so embarrassing."

Zhang Lu Rang's expression darkened, and he said coldly, "What are you thinking about all day long?"

He's quick to get flustered when teased, hiding behind his cold exterior.

Su Zai Zai pretended not to hear him.

After a moment's thought, she decided to be direct.

Taking a deep breath, she repeated the question from yesterday: "Do you think I'm pretty?"

Zhang Lu Rang was still a bit annoyed by what she had just said.

Hearing her question, he responded without hesitation, "No."

Hearing this answer, Su Zai Zai couldn't help but laugh.

She then looked at him expectantly.

Thirty seconds passed.

...No reaction.

Su Zai Zai thought, maybe he's just a bit slow.

I'll give him another minute.

A minute later.

Realizing the truth, Su Zai Zai became a bit flustered and angry: "Zhang Lu Rang! I can't believe you!"

This is too much! He doesn't even recognize me without makeup!

And I've been thinking about it all night!

Her sudden outburst made Zhang Lu Rang turn his head to look at her.

His gaze was calm, without any clear emotion.

Yet, there was a subtle, almost teasing undertone.

Su Zai Zai immediately felt weak, quickly plastering a smile on her face.

"I can't believe... you're so good-looking. It's only natural that you don't think I'm pretty in comparison..."

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

But Su Zai Zai still wasn't satisfied. Shamelessly, she asked, "But don't you find it pleasing to look at me when you're not looking in a mirror?"

Hearing this, Zhang Lu Rang stopped walking.

He recalled the voice he had heard from the stage yesterday.

-"Big beauty, I want to ravage you!"

His brow furrowed slightly.

"Su Zai Zai," he called.

Caught off guard by the handsome guy calling her name, Su Zai Zai felt a bit overwhelmed.

She quickly leaned closer, happily responding, "Yes, yes, yes!"

He ignored her enthusiastic reply and, with a blank expression, asked, "What's 'big beauty'?"

Hearing this, Su Zai Zai froze.

Her mind raced, and she began to sweat.

Then she started babbling nonsense: "A 'big beauty,' as the name suggests, refers to someone who is very beautiful. Of course, it can also describe someone who is very handsome, or even someone with a noble character."

Silence.

A few seconds later, Su Zai Zai, disheartened, gave up and confessed, "Okay, fine, I was calling you that."

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

"Are you unhappy? I was complimenting you, not insulting you," SuZai Zai said, a bit aggrieved.

"..." He genuinely didn't see any reason to be happy about it.

"Besides, there was even a girl shouting for you to 'rob her of her virtue,' and I wasn't nearly as extreme!" Su Zai Zai felt more justified the more she spoke, her voice rising in pitch. "All I said was, 'Big beauty, I want to..."

At this point, she abruptly stopped.

The previously aggrieved expression quickly vanished, replaced by a hint of awkwardness.

She swiftly put on a serious expression.

Then she pointed to the restroom not far away and said, "You should go now, don't hold it in. I have something to do, so I'll be leaving first. We can talk another time."

Without waiting for Zhang Lu Rang's response, she turned and dashed away.

Zhang Lu Rang stood there for a moment, watching her retreating figure.

Then he turned and headed toward the men's restroom.

After taking a few steps.

He suddenly found himself smiling, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.

With her antics, the oppressive mood that had been weighing on him quickly dissipated.

Normally, it would have taken him a long time to adjust.

But that heavy feeling was effortlessly swept away by her in such a short time.

The burden became lighter than a feather.

A gust of wind blew, and it was carried away.

Far, far away.

Thinking of Su Zai Zai.

Zhang Lu Rang suddenly felt a twinge of envy.

Being a little foolish has its perks.

No worries.

After the sports meet ended, each class began cleaning up the area.

Su Zai Zai was carrying her chair back toward the school building.

From behind, Wang Nan called out, "Hey! Su Zai Zai! Let me help you carry that!"

She pretended not to hear and kept walking.

As she left the stadium, Su Zai Zai suddenly noticed Zhang Lu Rang ahead of her.

He was carrying a chair with one hand, looking effortlessly at ease.

She quickened her pace, caught up to him, and eagerly offered, "Let me help you with that, Rang Rang?"

Zhang Lu Rang turned to look at her, frowning, "What did you call me?"

This time, Su Zai Zai didn't back down. She calmly replied, "Rang Rang. If you think it's unfair, you can call me Zai Zai!"

After all, he'd already heard her call him "big beauty," so she might as well go all out.

Zhang Lu Rang: "..."

"Rang Rang, let me help you carry the chair."

"Rang Rang, why aren't you responding?"

""

"Zhang Lu Rang, let me help you with the chair."

"No need."

As expected.

Su Zai Zai blinked, suddenly finding the situation quite amusing.

...Let's try something different.

"Big beauty, let me help you carry the chair!"

"Big beauty..."

Zhang Lu Rang couldn't take it anymore. He grabbed the chair from her hands and strode forward.

Su Zai Zai was stunned, then hurried to catch up with him, "Why did you snatch my chair?"

"Su Zai Zai."

"It's Zai Zai," Su Zai Zai corrected him.

"..." He was silent for a moment, then sighed in frustration, "Go back to the classroom, I'll carry it for you."

Hearing this, Su Zai Zai glanced at him and muttered, "I really did want to help you carry it."

"Mm."

Su Zai Zai walked beside him, lightly kicking a small pebble on the ground with her shoe, and asked in a low voice, "Zhang Lu Rang, are you unhappy?"

She pointed to her brow, "You've been frowning here the whole time."

Zhang Lu Rang didn't reply.

After a while.

Su Zai Zai smiled and said, "But now you look just like you usually do."

They entered the school building and started up the stairs.

Zhang Lu Rang remained silent, but when she was jostled closer by the crowd, he instinctively shifted the chair to the side.

Then he heard her say, "See? Being around me makes you happy."

When he still didn't respond, Su Zai Zai scratched her head in frustration.

After a moment's thought, she said, "Rang Rang, let me treat you to some jelly. Don't be upset."

Her tone was as if she were comforting a child, her words laced with sweetness.

But he remained quiet.

Su Zai Zai also fell silent.

She slowed her pace and walked behind Zhang Lu Rang.

Like a shadow.

They reached the third floor.

Su Zai Zai saw him place her chair outside the door, then carry another one into the classroom.

Without saying a word, as if she didn't exist.

Su Zai Zai stood there.

Suddenly, she felt a bit sad.

Just as she was about to walk over and take the chair back, he returned.

Zhang Lu Rang lifted her chair with one hand and looked at her.

Su Zai Zai opened her mouth to say something.

But Zhang Lu Rang simply turned and started up the stairs.

Su Zai Zai quickly followed, a smile spreading across her face.

"Rang Rang," she called out cheerfully.

"Big beauty."

"Zhang Lu Rang."

"Mm."

I really like you, she thought to herself.

They reached the door to Class 9.

Just as Su Zai Zai was about to take the chair from him, she heard him ask, "Where's your seat?"

Instinctively, Su Zai Zai pointed to the second-to-last row in the first group, "I moved over there."

Zhang Lu Rang walked over.

Su Zai Zai immediately followed.

Jiang Jia, who was sitting at her desk chatting with the person in front of her, fell silent and stared at them with gossip-filled eyes.

Zhang Lu Rang placed Su Zai Zai's chair in its spot.

Su Zai Zai thought he would leave immediately after putting it down.

But he stood there quietly, as if waiting for something.

She clenched her hands, suddenly feeling a bit nervous, "What's wrong?"

Zhang Lu Rang turned to look at her.

Then, in a soft voice, he said, "Nothing."

After saying that, he turned and left the classroom.

After he left, Jiang Jia excitedly rushed over, "Oh my gosh! What's going on?! Did you win him over?!"

Su Zai Zai shook her head and explained, "He thinks I'm annoying, so he helped me carry the chair."

"No way! If he found you annoying, would he really carry the chair all the way into the classroom for you?"

"Really."

Jiang Jia continued analyzing the situation beside her, but Su Zai Zai couldn't focus on anything she was saying.

Her expression was a bit blank, with a hint of confusion.

She was quietly pondering.

What was the handsome guy waiting for just now?
