"I… I… I'll let you see just how sharp my sword is!" Jason swallowed nervously, stammering as he stared at the hyena.
Seeing Jason continuously approach, the hyena released a strong yellow aura of rage.
It bared its teeth with a low, grating snarl. Its two hind legs slowly gathered strength, looking like a bow drawn to the limit, as if in the very next second it would charge straight at Jason.
"Looks like there's no reasoning with you. Then come on!" Jason said, bracing himself as he stared at the hyena.
"Ao—!"
The hyena suddenly let out a howl, sprang up from the ground, opened its blood-filled maw, and lunged toward Jason.
Jason hurriedly raised the sword in his hand, trying to block the attack. But to his shock, the hyena was extraordinarily agile even in midair. It lifted one paw, gathering yellow rage qi around it, and with a single swipe knocked Jason's sword aside. With its mouth wide open, it went straight for Jason's neck.
Jason immediately used his ultimate move—one that had saved him countless times in moments of life and death: the Instant Prone Technique. He dropped flat onto the ground in an instant, barely dodging the fatal bite and causing the hyena to miss completely.
After landing lightly, the hyena immediately turned around, baring its teeth as it stared at Jason. Its eyes were filled with disdain, as if it completely looked down on Jason's actions.
Jason crawled up in utter embarrassment, using both hands and feet.
"I really don't know how to fight! What else could I have done just now? If that bite had landed, I'd probably be bleeding out from a severed artery by now," Jason muttered, finding excuses for his disgraceful behavior.
Across from him, the Hyena King strode toward Jason with arrogant steps.
It was obvious that after the last exchange, the Hyena King no longer took Jason seriously at all. From its posture alone, one could see the deep contempt it held for him.
"H-hey! Is that look supposed to insult me?!"
Seeing the Hyena King's disdainful attitude, Jason's heart ignited with endless fury. His pride was deeply wounded. He clenched Lie Shi tightly in his right hand, straightened his body, and glared angrily at the Hyena King.
"Ao—!"
The Hyena King let out a furious roar and then charged straight at Jason in a swaggering manner, full of obvious openings.
This time, Jason no longer thought about dodging. Instead, he began calculating how to counterattack.
When the Hyena King pounced at him once more, facing the massive blood-red maw of the Hyena King—its entire body glowing with golden light—Jason relied on courage and his fierce sense of pride to suppress the fear that urged him to dodge again, desperately thinking of a way to defeat it.
But the Hyena King had no intention of giving Jason time to think. Its gaping mouth was already inches away from Jason's head.
Jason instinctively crouched slightly. At that moment, he noticed a clear opening in the Hyena King's exposed abdomen while it was still in midair. Without the slightest hesitation, he channeled blue rage qi into Lie Shi and slashed straight toward the Hyena King's belly.
Clang!
Lie Shi only made brief contact with the Hyena King's abdomen before the beast swiftly retreated.
The Hyena King looked at Jason with surprise in its eyes. It hadn't expected him to dare fight back.
"I came here to be the main character. How could I be defeated by an ugly dog like you? Your good days are over—get ready to die!"
Jason shouted, and without knowing where the courage came from, he burst forward in a sudden dash toward the Hyena King.
"Ao—!"
The Hyena King roared in response and charged straight at Jason as well.
Jason seized the timing and swung his sword at the Hyena King. But he was just a fraction too slow—the blade sliced through empty air in front of the Hyena King's face.
The Hyena King showed no mercy and bit down hard on Jason's arm.
In his panic, Jason hurriedly coated the bitten arm with Armament Rage Qi, but the Hyena King's sharp teeth still pierced straight into his flesh.
The instant the beast's fangs sank into his arm, Jason's scorching blood began pouring down in torrents.
In desperation, Jason clenched his left hand into a fist and smashed it into the Hyena King's head. But the Hyena King was completely unfazed. Instead, it bit down even harder and began violently shaking its head, clearly trying to tear Jason's arm clean off.
Jason could only go along with the Hyena King's strength, terrified that if he resisted too much, his arm would be ripped off instantly.
At this life-or-death moment, Jason suddenly thought of a move. He gathered rage qi into his leg, seized the opportunity, and kicked with all his strength straight at the Hyena King's groin.
Because the Hyena King made no attempt to dodge, the kick landed squarely.
However, things did not develop the way Jason had imagined.
The most crucial reason was that this Hyena King was female. Unlike a male lion, it didn't have its weak point hanging out in the open.
Not only did Jason's kick fail to injure the Hyena King, it instead enraged her even further.
The Hyena King glared at Jason with murderous hatred, biting down even harder. Her teeth seemed to touch Jason's arm bone itself. A bone-piercing pain surged through Jason's body, causing beads of sweat as large as soybeans to form on his face.
"What do I do now? I'm no match for this female dog at all!"
Jason panicked internally as an overwhelming, death-like fear washed over him.
He could already foresee that if he didn't do something soon, this arm would be torn off by the hyena.
Just as Jason was at a loss, he suddenly noticed the Hyena King's eyes—wide open.
Driven by an intense desire to survive, Jason unconsciously coated his fingers with Armament Rage Qi and stabbed them straight toward the Hyena King's eyes.
The Hyena King managed to protect her eyes in time with Armament Rage Qi, but eyes were far too fragile. Jason's strike still caused her excruciating pain. She involuntarily shut her eyes, and her bite loosened.
Seizing this opportunity, Jason broke free. He grabbed Lie Shi from the ground with both hands, infused it with Armament Rage Qi, and, using every ounce of strength he had, thrust it toward the Hyena King's eyes.
"Die for me! I'm the main character! There's no way I'm falling here! Die—die for me!"
Jason roared hysterically as he viciously drove Lie Shi forward. At this moment, he had almost completely lost his sanity.
With a sickening sound of a sharp weapon piercing flesh, Lie Shi plunged entirely into the Hyena King's body through her eye.
"Ao! Ao! Ao—!"
The Hyena King had never imagined Jason would attack her eyes. As Jason pulled his sword free, the Hyena King collapsed onto the ground, letting out miserable, agonized howls as blood gushed out like a fountain.
The scene was incomparably bloody.
