"What do you mean it's not a Resurrection Lily?"
"Why is this thing in this world? It shouldn't even exist here…"
George frowned.
"What are you mumbling about? Why isn't it supposed to be here?"
Bao fell silent for a moment, as if struggling to compose himself.
"You have no idea what this thing truly is," Bao finally said.
"It is a Resurrection Lily—but not an ordinary one. It's a variant."
"A variant?" George asked.
"Yes," Bao replied slowly.
"A variant which was so rare even in my world—a world far superior to this lowly place—it was almost nothing more than a legend."
George's breath hitched.
"What? A variant? Then it can still heal me, right?"
"Aii…" Bao sighed deeply.
"Just heal you?"
"You can't even imagine its miraculous effects."
Bao's voice grew heavy, carrying both awe and sorrow.
"It is one of only two divine plants in the entire vast universe capable of bringing back the dead."
George froze.
"This plant can revive someone who has already died."Bao again said
There was unmistakable pity in Bao's voice as he continued,
"If I had possessed this before my death… I wouldn't be here now."
George's jaw dropped.
"What? Bring back the dead?"
"What the hell… I think you're bragging way too much."
"No,i am not bragging. It can really heal everything," Bao said.
"It can give you a completely new body… and it is also the best material for improving cultivation talent."
George's eyes widened.
"What? Cultivation talent?"
"Let me explain," Bao said patiently.
"In this world of cultivation, effort alone is not the key to success. Talent is what decides how far one can go—whether they reach the peak or remain a nobody."
"A person's talent is decided the moment they are born," Bao continued.
"It is fixed. Unchangeable."
George raised his eyebrow with interest
"But this plant," Bao said slowly, his voice turning grave,
"is unique. It does not follow the laws of the universe."
"It can improve cultivation talent."
George felt his scalp tingle.
"You cannot imagine what would happen if the forces of the upper worlds discovered this plant," Bao warned.
"There would be a second Holy War—one that could destroy everything."
George sucked in a sharp breath.
"What the heck… this is really that dangerous?"
Then his expression shifted.
A grin slowly spread across his face.
"But whatever," George said confidently.
"It's in my hands now."
"And I'm the one who'll use it."
"Heheh…"
He smiled brightly, his eyes burning with excitement.
"See? I really am lucky."
"Now tell me," George said eagerly,
"How should I use it?"
"I can't wait to step into this world of cultivators."
While saying this, George was also thinking about how vastly different this world was from his previous one.
In his old world, the key to success was effort.
For most people, effort was the only thing they truly had at their disposal. They could rely on no one but themselves.
There were, of course, a few exceptions—people like George, who were born wealthy and lived comfortably on their parents' money.
But even that wealth existed because of effort.
The money he enjoyed had been earned through the hard work and struggles of his parents.
In the end, effort still mattered.
But this world was different.
Here, talent decided everything.
Without talent, effort was meaningless.
You could struggle for your entire life.
You could endure hardship with an unbreakable will.
You could give everything you had—
And yet, at the end of your life, it would all be for nothing.
He was also thinking about the Holy War that Bao had mentioned.
Bao had said "second Holy War."
"Didn't that mean there had already been a first Holy War—a war that had spanned across the vast universe and brought unimaginable destruction?"
The thought intrigued him greatly.
But he did not pursue the matter further As it was not his concern, nor was it the concern of this low-level world. This world was far beyond the reach of the high-level worlds, as Bao had mentioned.
Bao said, "Okay, don't move. I will teach you how to absorb the Resurrection Lily."
Then Bao continued, "Take the Resurrection Lily… um…then open your mouth."
George opened his mouth.
"Then gulp it down in one mouthful."
George was completely dumbfounded.
"What? That's it?"
"Yes."
"Nothing more?"
"No."
"But how can I eat it in one gulp?" George asked.
"That is your concern, not mine," Bao replied. "If there were a god-level alchemist, we could have persuaded him to make a pill, but there are none. So you have to do it the hard way."
George gulped a mouthful of saliva, staring at the Resurrection Lily with wide eyes.
Then he opened his mouth as wide as he could—so wide that his jaws started hurting. Finally, he swallowed the lily, roots and all.
It was incredibly painful for his throat and mouth, but he somehow endured it.
However, after gulping down the lily in one fell swoop, his mind began to go blank. He was already exhausted, both physically and mentally, from giving energy to the mystic seed pod. His body had endured an enormous amount of strain during that time, and now, after gulping down a whole lily with its roots, he couldn't hold on any longer and fell unconscious.
Bao's situation was also not very good, as his energy was completely drained. He decided to enter a slumber for some time so he could recover his energy.
And just like that, the room was once again filled with deathly silence.
Then suddenly, a vicious black, slimy substance began dripping from George's body, like sweat soaking his bed. It was the impurities in his body being expelled. He started taking in huge gulps of air with every inhale. Though he was unconscious, his body began twitching as his bones grew denser and stronger, his lung capacity expanded tremendously, and his hair miraculously grew long enough to reach his toes.
a powerful wind surged through the room as his body slowly healed his damaged spirit. During this process, an enormous amount of spiritual energy was absorbed into his body.
Some time passed since the process began, and the phenomena finally stopped. There was still no movement from George… until, suddenly, he began shaking his hands. Then he sat up abruptly, as if waking from a nightmare.
"Umm… who am I?"
But after looking around the room, he remembered something. He remembered how he used to live in this room… how he spent almost all of his time here.
More memories came. He remembered he was the heir of the Ven der Meer family, with a caring mother and father. He regained most of his memories—which was good and lovely—but among them was one painfully vivid memory.
Some years ago—
George was a cultivation genius who had reached Golden Pill level at the young age of 12. Everyone loved him and cared about him. But suddenly, one day, his happy world shattered.
A Beast Tide—swarming with beasts strong enough to threaten the safety of the entire world—arrived. At that time, all families gathered to resist it. As a proud cultivator of the Ven der Meer family, George also joined the war. But in an unexpected accident, his core was destroyed, and he lost his ability to cultivate. After that incident, he changed completely.
The main estate of the Ven der Meer family was extremely prosperous and was also known as the capital of the Southern Dragon. However, after George became a cripple, he fell into depression and completely changed.
The people of the main estate were one of the biggest reasons behind this. After he became crippled, many people wanted him to step down from the position of heir. They also wanted to cut his supplies, and at one point, the elders of the family even wanted him to leave, considering him a disgrace.
Seeing the hardship her son was bearing, George's mother decided to move to a countryside city on this vast continent.
While in pain from these memories, more memories came—completely different ones. They were memories from George's modern world. In an instant, his mind became chaotic.
He lost his ability to think. He couldn't differentiate between fake and reality… he couldn't tell which memory was real, and at some point, he thought that both might be fake.
But suddenly, a voice came… "George, wake up! Wake!"
George came to his senses. It was Bao. He realized he had been going insane from all those memories.
After calming down, he understood that he had regained the memories of the body's real owner. To his shock, the body's original owner was also named George Ven Der Meer. He didn't think much of it, though, and instead noticed that his body felt much stronger. His breath was steady and deep, and he found himself feeling joy simply from breathing.
He asked Bao about his body's condition. Bao explained the upgrades in his body and said, "Your body is now incredible. It has immense potential and will aid you greatly in your future cultivation."
Then Bao continued, "Now it's time to
explain the cultivation world to you in more detail."
