Melina could clearly see the profound changes Lyra had brought out in Elara. Some of these alterations were so deeply strange that they made Melina question if Elara was operating under some kind of spell. Though, admittedly, she couldn't say that she hated the results. In fact, so far, every single thing Elara had done had worked out entirely in her own favor.
So, despite already knowing the answer to the question, Melina couldn't help but ask. With how intensely prideful Elara was, it should have been completely impossible for her to go against her own word. Yet, Elara had already done things Melina thought she would never live to see. The biggest surprise of all was that the alpha was finally doing something entirely for the sake of someone else—an action from which she obtained absolutely no personal gain.
So who really knew? Maybe she would actually be able to shatter her own stubborn pride and finally admit what it was she truly wanted.
