Chapter 7 - Changing the plot of the original work

"That..."

Joining Shiryu's group? No need to hesitate, she certainly wanted to.

But killing zombies with him?

Yukana wondered if Shiryu was serious about the last part he said?

"Thanks, I'd love to join! However, I'm not good at fighting."

Or rather, a girl like her never did!

She wasn't like Saeko who was a national level Kendo champion.

Shiryu certainly knew Yukana's fighting skills were basically zero.

"That's fine, you at least didn't refuse to try."

After all, even though he now had strength that exceeded that of an ordinary human, he couldn't always protect the people in his group.

They also had to have the ability to survive in the doomsday that was now beginning.

"So, take this."

Shiryu took out the spear he had ordered online from his inventory.

Yukana received it with a surprised expression, not just because Shiryu pulled the thing out of thin air, but he actually meant what he said earlier!

She gripped the spear tightly in her hand, the way she was holding it was also actually wrong.

"I-I'll try!"

"Good, now follow me."

Shiryu walked towards the front of the school through the corridor on the west side. Several shouts could be heard in the distance.

Not only the gate jail, the other students or perhaps teachers also seemed to have been infected.

Yukana's body trembled slightly as she was afraid. Even so, seeing Shiryu's backside, she immediately calmed down.

With him nearby, he wouldn't let those zombies be able to bite her, right?

"Grraa!"

Just as she was thinking that, she was jolted by an inhuman growling sound coming from the end of the corridor.

A gatekeeper who had become a zombie happened to turn towards them.

They stared at each other.

Yukana shuddered, especially when she saw how horrible the person who had been infected with the Rage virus looked.

"Yo, you want to bite us? Come here!"

Unlike the protagonists in zombie movies, Shiryu took the initiative to provoke the zombies at the start.

The gatekeeper gasped, he immediately ran over upon hearing his voice.

Yukana panicked and froze while clutching her spear...

Fortunately—

*Bang!*

Shiryu punched the zombie's head and instantly, its head exploded like a watermelon hit by a stick.

Yukana looked at the bloody scene with a look of horror.

But more than that, she was amazed that Shiryu could blow the zombie's head off with just one hand punch.

Shiryu himself was a little surprised and started writing in his diary again.

[Am I overestimating the zombies in this world? I just hit one of them on the head and it exploded.]

The heroines:

Really? Wow, you're really strong.

Maybe it's not the zombie that's weak, but your punch is too strong, Shiryu.

[It's a good thing I was wearing gloves. Otherwise, their blood would have gotten me dirty.]

[Ah, just FYI. It's fine if you just get hit by their blood, as long as their blood doesn't enter your body, you won't turn into them.]

Sounds easy.

But it's hard to do.

"Kyaa! Someone got killed!"

"What!? Who!?"

"It looks like the school gate guard and the one who killed him is..."

The students who happened to be from the class beside them peeked through the windows and doors.

They glanced at Shiryu and misunderstood the situation.

Yukana frowned and shouted, "You all misunderstood! Shiryu didn't kill a human, he killed a zombie!"

"Zombie? That doesn't make any sense."

"Wait, isn't that one of the popular girls in our school, Yukana? Gosh, she's so pretty but her head is a bit..."

"She's even holding a spear!"

"Instead of thinking about that, call the police!"

Hearing what those people were saying, she was helpless and didn't know what to say.

"Let's continue our journey, Yukana. We need to get together with Saeko and the others." Shiryu ignored those people, he was neither a yasashi protagonist nor too kind to bother persuading them to flee immediately.

They wouldn't listen to him unless they saw the zombies attacking with their own eyes.

He didn't want to waste his time on people like that.

As for being reported to the police? He wasn't worried because the police in the city would be busy fighting the zombies.

They also wouldn't have enough energy to save the people in this school.

Yukana followed Shiryu wordlessly, at least until they encountered some students who turned into zombies!

"There are too many, Shiryu. Why don't we take another path?"

"Many? They're only a dozen. Yukana, this is a good opportunity for you. Try chopping off their heads. With a spear in your hand, it'll be easy."

Smiling, Shiryu held Yukana's soft shoulder.

Yukana found his smile frightening, she had never even killed a chicken!

Although the people in front of her were already not humans, but zombies that were dangerous and good to kill.

She wasn't like Shiryu who had a mentality that surpassed that of an ordinary human after becoming Captain America.

She was mentally weak.

Yukana wanted to cry, but she bit her lip and did as Shiryu said.

She swung the spear in her hand while closing her eyes.

"Haaaa!"

"Oh, not bad. But Yukana, you must also open your eyes when attacking your enemies. Otherwise..."

Ignoring one of the zombies whose head was almost severed by Yukana's attack, Shiryu swung his fists in a boxer-like posture at several zombies that were about to lunge at them.

Each of his punches made their heads explode.

"You get caught by them and become ugly like them. You don't want that to happen, do you?"

Yukana shook her head.

Imagining her skin becoming so pale, her veins accentuated and her eyes so red, she shuddered.

It seemed like the issue of maintaining her appearance or beauty motivated girls like her more.

While Shiryu and Yukana were killing every zombie on the west side of the school.

On the east side, Saeko did the same. With a katana in her hand, she slaughtered the zombies alone.

The blood of the creatures splashed onto her school uniform, she would be fine as long as she didn't let the liquid enter her body like Shiryu said in his diary.

Thus, she was secretly enjoying the slaughter and violence she was committing.

The corners of her lips lifted, she grinned and her cheeks flushed slightly.

That was her dark side, she usually did not dare to show it to anyone but this situation was an exception.

"Busujima-san! You finally came, we've been waiting for you for a long time~"

Shizuka's cheerful voice echoed on the other side of the corridor not far from the school health room.

Her voice provoked the students who had been infected with the virus.

Saeko's lips twitched. Shizuka-sensei, you're speaking too loudly! The zombies seemed to be sensitive to sound.

She complained in her heart and without turning around to look at Shiuzka, she lunged towards the zombie horde.

With her family sword technique, she again committed carnage. About three minutes later, Saeko finally approached Shiuzka's location.

She saw the blonde woman but not only her, there was also a brown-haired woman with large breasts.

Like Shizuka, she was one of the nurses at the school who was famous for not only being beautiful, she had a very beautiful figure.

Saeko knew her.

She was...

"Busujima-san, you're so strong! With you around, we don't seem to have to worry about the zombies."

Shizuka, do you think I'm not a human who isn't tired and doesn't need rest?

Saeko refrained from saying that.

"Fufu." The woman beside Shizuka giggled. In this situation, she still looked calm and collected. "Busujima-san, good swordsmanship. As expected of Master Busujima's successor."

She seemed to know her father.

Her name was Yuko Sagiri.

In this world, she and Shizuka were friends as they had worked as nurses at the Tokyo Metropolitan Academy for many years.

Although unlike Shizuka, she was also a doctor at a certain hospital and had a secret identity.

If Shiryu was here, she would definitely be surprised and excited!

"Yuko-sensei, thank you for the compliment. But putting that aside, we need to find Shiryu-kun right away."

Recalling their conversation during breakfast this morning, Saeko thought the person Shizuka wanted to direct was Yuko and only her.

But Shizuka said, "Wait, we should also look for Kyoko!"

"Kyoko? You mean Kyoko-sensei?"

"Un! I can't bear to leave her alone and want to recruit her to our group."

Who's Kyoko?

That's one of the teachers in this school.

Saeko also recognized her and curiously glanced at Yuko. "What about you, Yuko-sensei? Are you coming with us too?"

Yuko smiled slightly, "For now, yes. But I can't join Shiryu-kun's group. After this, I still have to go to the hospital where I work to check something."

Shizuka pouted like a child. "That's the answer, Yoko rejected my invitation to join our group."

Saeko widened for a moment. It wasn't that Yuko refused to join their group, but she seemed to be...

"Yuko-sensei, you also have a copy of the diary?"

Yuko without hesitation replied, "Yes, I have it and certainly know quite a lot about the boy named Shiryu Sou from the things he wrote."

"Ehh! Yuko, you're just like us!?"

Shizuka, you're too slow to realize something like that.

The two decided to ignore her.

Soon, they walked along the corridor towards the center of the school. At this point, the situation in the place was already chaotic and almost all students and teachers knew that the zombies had somehow appeared in the real world and attacked them all.

Still, perhaps due to fate or the plot written by the author of the original work, another mature woman with brown hair, but a face and big breasts was in danger!

"Student, what's wrong with you? Your skin is very pale and your eyes are very red, would you like me to take you to the school health room?"

Kyoko Hayashi didn't know the chaos that was happening at school yet. It was natural, because Tokyo Metropolitan Academy was very large.

After all, it was the most prestigious school in the country.

A while ago, she was late to catch up and was on her way to a certain clear.

But, she saw a male student standing facing the wall and looking ill.

She didn't have a copy of Shiryu's diary, so she wasn't suspicious. She took the initiative to approach him and asked worriedly.

But the response she received was a growl.

"Ggrrr!"

The student began to lunge at her while opening his mouth.

Kyoko was frightened and reflexively avoided to the side.

She wanted to run, but her speed wasn't fast enough. The student managed to grab her blazer, and pulled hard.

"Aaahhh! No, please! Student, stop! What are you—"

Frantically, she tried to break free and called for help.

Just then, she realized that the boy in front of her was not normal.

He was like the zombies usually seen in movies, but scarier because he was attacking her.

Even so, her words were cut short as an arm pulled at her waist and the boy in front of her was kicked in the stomach by a leg.

The kick was enough to send him flying tens of meters away and his body embedded in the wall.

"Sensei, are you okay?" Shiryu asked the woman in his arms.

Not far behind him, Yukana glanced at the two of them with a hint of jealousy.

Wait, what was I thinking?

Kyoko turned her head behind her and lifted her face to look at the person who saved her.

The combination of the hero saving the beauty and the figure of Shiryu who was basically like Captain America without the costume.

Kyoko who had been single since birth and was at an age where her parents kept telling her to get married.

Her heart was beating fast and her cheeks were flushed.

"I-I'm fine. My name is Kyoko Hayashi, a teacher at this school. Sir, may I know who you are?"

"Um... Sensei, I'm a student at this school." Shiryu knew he was misunderstood as a man in his twenties.

Kyoko was stunned and said, "Sorry, what did you say?"

"I said I was a student at this school. It's natural for you not to recognize my appearance now, but I'm Sou Shiryu, a student from the second year."

"You're Shiryu-kun!? How did you...! Ah, come to think of it, you're wearing a school uniform..."

For some reason, Kyoko looked disappointed.

Still, she was still very grateful to the boy in front of her because if it weren't for him, she would probably die and become a zombie.

By the way, she knew Shiryu before he answered so muscular and grew taller than now.

That was because his identity as a popular novelist and his good grades at school attracted a lot of attention from teachers including herself.

"Cough! Cough! Shiryu, Kyoko-sensei, how long are you two going to keep sticking together?" Yukana pretended to cough and said unhappily.

Shiryu reluctantly released the plump body in his arms.

Kyoko felt embarrassed, she hurriedly kept her distance from her student and just realized Yukana's existence.

"You are Yame-san, right? Why are you carrying a spear?"

She also recognized Yukana and asked curiously.

Shiryu opened his diary and glanced at the blonde girl beside him, "Yukana, explain the situation to sensei."

While Yukana did what he said.

And Kyoko was surprised.

Our protagonist updated the contents of his diary again.

[The situation at school is getting more and more chaotic, I don't know how many people at school are still human and haven't been infected by the Rage virus.]

[But my goal was achieved, not only saving Yukana from the evil thing Shido wanted to do to her. I also managed to save Kyoko-sensei from her tragic fate!]

[Although it's a bit different from the original work where she would be bitten by a zombie, lose one of her arms and legs before being killed by the protagonist Takashi.]

He made up the story a bit but it wasn't completely fake.

In the original work, Highschool Of The Dead— Kyoko died at the beginning of the story even though she was quite beautiful and had a wavy figure.

The author had the heart to kill her.

[In this life, I didn't let her die. Thanks to my ability to see the future because if it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't know where the beautiful women who need help are!]

No one realized that Shiryu only seemed to be passionate about saving beautiful women.

The heroines were amazed by his heroic actions.

Their credibility and favorable impression of him increased by several points.

Leave aside Kyoko who doesn't have a copy of the diary but already has ambiguous feelings for her student (Shiryu).

Yukana was touched, she just knew that Shiryu's arrival to save her was not a coincidence.

He knew something bad would happen to her and chose to save her. For a girl who fell in love with a boy like Junichi so easily in the original work...

How could she not feel the same for Shiryu?

"Such a thing really happened to this school! We should call the police and ask them to—"

"That's useless, the police are busy fighting the zombies in the city right now. Instead of waiting for help that won't come, we should save ourselves."

"By the way Kyoko-sensei, do you want to join my group? After this, we plan to go to my house. It's very safe there."

Closing his diary, Shiryu interrupted what Kyoko was saying and invited her to join his harem—I mean his group!

Hearing what he said, Kyoko without hesitation nodded. "Alright, I'll join your group, Shiryu-kun."

She herself didn't dare to walk around alone at school or try to get home.

Right now, the neighborhood around her own residence might not be safe.

Although she did not know why Shiryu was so confident about his home, she believed in him and felt she would be safe with him.

[When a woman has no other choice but to depend on a man. These are signs of her downfall.]

[This is what you're aiming for, right host?]

[I must say that you're cunning.]

His system suddenly spoke up.

'Stop calling me cunning, I didn't do it on purpose.'

Shiryu denied what she said.

After their conversation was over, he led the two beauties to search for Saeko and the others.

On the way, there were many zombies that became obstacles but he and Yukana managed to kill them.

Kyoko convinced herself several times that the people killed were no longer her students, they were now monsters.

If they are not killed, the people who will die are the opposite.

On the roof of one of the buildings at school.

Because Shiryu doesn't seem to care about what happens here.

What happened in the original work was still happening.

"Hisashi, you... you've been bitten by them?" Rei asked with a trembling voice.

Before this, because she had known what would happen from the copy of Shiryu's diary— even so, because she only truly believed when seeing the zombies with her own eyes, she chased her boyfriend into hiding here.

She also did it to avoid Takashi who might be looking for her like Shiryu said.

She doesn't want to join his group.

But on the way, they were intercepted by some zombies and Hisashi seemed to be bitten by one of them.

It was visible from the bite marks and blood dripping down his shoulder.

"Rei, this is... Sorry, you'd better get out of here."

"I mean leave you?"

"Yes."

"I won't do it!"

Either she was afraid of going down from the roof alone or Rei loved Hisashi too much to want to leave him.

She refused.

Hisashi would normally be proud of that, but now... feeling his body feel strange and not his own, he was just sad.

Not only that, he also knew Rei seemed to still have feelings for her childhood friend, Takashi.

When they were little, the three of them often played together.

But since they grew older, starting from junior high school—Hisashi was jealous of Rei and Takashi's closeness.

Just like Takashi, he likes Rei.

Luckily three months ago, he saw an opportunity. Rei somehow had to repeat the class and failed to graduate from high school, her relationship with Takashi also deteriorated.

He comforts her until they end up dating.

But before he could even have sex with her, as he was trying to maintain his image as a gentle and patient man, he was bitten by a zombie and seemed to be dying!

Hisashi smiled bitterly.

What he did not know was that heroine like Rei had plot armor that prevented side characters like him from possessing her completely.

"Rei, you must. If not, you must kill me before I– Ughh! Rei, hurry! I can feel it...! I'm going to turn into one of them!"

Hisashi staggered back while clutching his chest, veins bulged all over his body and his eyes began to turn red.

Almost ten seconds had passed since he was bitten.

Shiryu had not written it down in his diary, the Rage virus only took 10 seconds to turn someone into a rage-filled zombie.

"Hisashi! I, I..."

Rei gripped the nodachi in her hand nervously, she did not immediately obey his words.

Because how could she possibly kill her boyfriend!?

She was even too afraid to run away alone.

It was as if someone had been waiting for this opportunity to arrive—

*Boom!*

The blockade they made to block the path to the roof was destroyed by a familiar boy.

Rei recognized him, it was Takashi!

"Ggrrr! Takashi..."

Hisashi growled, he had been controlled by the Rage virus. His eyes shrouded in anger, he could not think clearly at all.

Before he was about to lunge like the other zombies did, the protagonist swung a baseball bat at his head.

"Noooo!"

Rei screamed in horror when she saw the scene in front of her.

The sound of loud blows echoed off the roof of the school building.

Takashi killed Hisashi by crushing his head.

That was crazy, he did not even hesitate to do it as if he was doing it out of personal spite.

Rei was suspicious, she walked over to him and swung her hand.

*SLAP!*

"Rei, you..."

Takashi was stunned, his face slapped by his childhood friend.

Even though he had saved her.

Actually, this was the reason why Shiryu chose not to interfere in their matter.

He still wanted the protagonist to be slapped by the heroine!
