Chapter 12 - Alone With Him

Dominic scanned the club, his instincts screaming at him that someone was staring at him. He could feel it but no matter how much he looked, he couldn't find the person.

"Are you looking for someone?" Jeremy questioned. "You've been roaming your eyes for a while now."

Dominic didn't reply immediately. He could feel it. Someone was staring at him, but because the club was so crowded, he couldn't pinpoint the person's location.

But if it was an enemy, the person was waiting for the perfect moment to attack.

"I'm not looking for anyone," he replied flatly as he sipped his vodka.

"You know, I was thinking, since you were sitting on a chair during the meeting at the headquarters, why didn't you use it on Mr. Serra instead?" Lux questioned.

He was one of Jeremy's and Dom's friends, being the youngest while still in college, and holds a future position in the order: blonde silky hair and ocean blue eyes with a well-chiseled jawline.

Jeremy nudged him immediately.

"What?" He asked innocently. "If you ask me, I think a glass cup didn't cause enough damage. A chair getting slammed into his face would leave a better statement, honestly."

Dominic's eyes darkened as he recalled what had transpired at his previous meeting with the elders.

After his outburst, Mr. Serra was quickly rushed to the hospital to get treated, while his father suspended him for an entire month.

Mr. Silvestri had asked him to apologize, but he promised that it would be the last thing he would do.

No one had the right to insult his mother, be it a member of the order, or his father. No one.

"That's enough," said Jeremy. "The old man got what he deserved. I bet when he looks in the mirror and sees the scar, he will learn to control his mouth next time."

Dominic took another sip from his vodka but the presence of a familiar woman instantly turned his mood sour.

"Dominic," Caterina sang as she took a seat close to Dominic, completely invading his personal space. "I didn't know you would be here. You should have called me so that we could hang out together."

Jeremy and Lux glanced at each other, trying hard to hold back their laughter.

"Leave," said Dom.

After what had transpired the past month, all he wanted to do was relax and get someone to lie with. But it was obvious Caterina wasn't going to leave him since she didn't move an inch away from his instruction.

"I sent you a text, but you didn't reply," she continued. "My father is still mad at you for what you did to me and he's asking me to bring you over so you can apologize."

Lux couldn't hold it in and snickered, which gained Caterina's attention. She glared at him but he avoided her gaze.

She turned to Dominic. "But I told him you can come over whenever you want and that he shouldn't rush you." Then she placed her well-manicured fingers on his hand and traced the veins. "You know what? I have a good idea. I've already reserved a room for both of us. Why don't you join me?"

"I don't think there's any need for that, Caterina," Dominic responded, this time, making an effort to give them space. He could smell her perfume and it smelled strong and strange. He glanced at her suspiciously before he moved to sit in with Jeremy. "As for your father, he's never getting an apology from me till the day he dies." Venom dripped from his tone, but Caterina paid deaf ears to them and smiled like a fool, as if he was flirting with her.

As the daughter of a mafia boss, Caterina had always gotten whatever she wanted. She'd never been rejected, plus the body of a model she had, men threw themselves on the floor for her.

But Dominic was different. They'd hooked up in fear times, however, unlike the men she'd been with who wanted something more, Dominic made it clear that he didn't want anything more to do with her.

Realizing that Caterina wasn't listening to him, Dominic stood up and left.

Back where Delfina was having fun with her friends, Naomi snatched the bottle from Delfina.

"I know I said you should have fun tonight, but I didn't mean you should drink yourself to death. Are you trying to kill yourself?" She questioned, worry etched on her face. "Your face is all red."

Delfina ignored Naomi and moved to the dance floor where she shook her body to the music being played.

"You know she gets drunk quickly. Why didn't you snatch the bottle of beer from her fast?" Valentina asked Naomi.

Naomi facepalmed herself as she cried. "This is not going to end well."

Delfina danced like there was no tomorrow, moving her hips to the rhythm of the song. And when any man tried to come close to her, her friends would shield her, quickly driving them away.

"I need to go to the restroom," said Delfina.

"I'll follow you," Valentina said as she helped Delfina find the restroom.

In the restroom, Valentina received a phone call from Marco. Her face turned sour when she saw his name flashing on her screen.

She opted to hang up but changed her mind immediately.

"What is it?" She questioned, her tone harsher than how she intended it to be. However, a few girls arrived in the restroom, screaming and laughing, making it hard for her to hear Marco well so she moved further away to a quiet area in the restroom.

Delfina finished but didn't find Valentina anywhere. Her phone was in her bag, and her bag was with Liora.

"Damn it," she cursed.

Her legs were wobbly, making it impossible to walk properly. She needed to find her way fast.

As she tried to walk out of the hallway, she stumbled and fell.

"Hey there, cutie! Need some help?" She quickly shook her head without looking at the man's face.

He tried to touch her but she swatted his hands away.

"Come on now. Don't act hard to get," he slurred.

Delfina searched around and realized that she was in the dark rooms. She didn't recall passing there when she came with Valentina but one thing was for sure, she needed to get rid of the man bothering her.

Gathering all her energy, she stood up and wobbled towards one of the doors, silently praying she wasn't going to see two people entangled together.

Thankfully, the room was as dark as night.

"Sweetie, I'm talking to y—" Delfina shut the door right in the stranger's face.

"Goodness," she muttered as she searched for a light switch. When the room brightened up, Delfina came to realize she wasn't alone.

Dominic looked up at Delfina, a strange hunger evident in his eyes.

Delfina's hand tightened at the door handle when his gaze fell on her. For a second, she felt like a prey captured by a predator, goosebumps rising on her skin.

Dominic stood up and walked towards her, leading her heart to skip a beat. Her cheeks flushed at the heat radiating from his skin.

Dominic lowered his head and spoke, "You shouldn't be here."
