Jay POV
For 1 hour… we were normal.
Keifer had stolen my chair again. Ci-n was arguing about whether the mini fridge belonged to Hex. Felix had somehow connected the TV to a random action movie.
Even Hex came in.
He leaned against the wall, arms folded. Calm. Watching us like we were mildly entertaining wildlife.
"You're loud," he said.
"You're boring," Keifer replied.
Miguel stood near the window. Carlos had just returned from IT.
For a second, Byte JC felt less like a battlefield and more like a living room.
Then—
CRASH.
Glass shattered somewhere downstairs.
Everyone froze.
Another crash.
A scream.
Miguel's expression changed first. "That wasn't an accident."
Hex was already moving.
I stood up slowly.
Wore my mask.
Security alarm.
Red lights flickered faintly in the hallway.
Felix muttered, "Well… that escalated."
We stepped out of the office.
Workers were running.
"Someone broke in!"
"They're smashing the reception!"
"They're attacking staff!"
My heart didn't race.
It sharpened.
I turned to Miguel. "Lock down the building."
He nodded and ran.
Keifer's voice lowered. "Stay behind me."
I looked at him.
"No."
Another crash echoed.
Three men rushed into the corridor, masked, holding metal rods. One had a knife.
One of them shouted, "Smash everything!"
So dramatic.
One charged toward a worker.
Yuri intercepted him first. Tackled him hard into the wall.
Ci-N and David jumped in.
Section E didn't hesitate.
Good.
Another man swung at Carlos.
Carlos dodged and hit him straight in the stomach.
Hex moved like water. Calm. Efficient. He disarmed one attacker within seconds.
I stepped forward toward the one with the knife.
He lunged.
I didn't step back.
I twisted his wrist and drove my elbow into his ribs.
He growled and slashed wildly.
The blade grazed my leg.
Sharp sting.
Warmth.
But not deep.
Keifer saw it.
Everything changed.
His eyes darkened.
The attacker tried to swing again.
Hex grabbed him from behind.
Keifer punched him once.
Twice.
Hard enough to drop him.
Keifer added one solid hit to the jaw.
The man collapsed.
Hex looked at me. "You're bleeding."
"It's nothing."
It wasn't deep. Just a long scratch along my thigh.
Downstairs another loud crash.
Miguel's voice echoed from somewhere, "They're trying to access the server room!"
Hacking.
Of course.
One of the attackers had slipped past the fight and was at a terminal.
Hex sprinted down the hall. "He's in the system!"
I followed.
The man was frantically typing.
"Firewall's stronger than I thought—"
I pulled him back by his collar.
"You should've thought harder."
He tried to elbow me.
Keifer blocked him.
Felix kicked the chair away.
Ci-n yanked the keyboard cable out.
"System safe!" he shouted.
Hex restrained the hacker and pinned him to the ground.
Security finally flooded the floor.
The attackers were subdued.
Breathing heavy.
Groaning.
No one dead.
Just broken pride.
Police sirens approached outside.
Workers slowly stepped out from hiding.
I leaned slightly against the wall.
Hex noticed.
He stepped closer. "Sit."
"I'm fine."
"That wasn't a suggestion."
Keifer looked at my leg and frowned. "Who did that?"
Hex's jaw tightened again.
The man on the floor spat blood and laughed. "You think this ends here? Kaizer sends his regards."
Silence.
Kaizer.
So that's it.
Keifer grabbed him by the collar again but Miguel stopped him. "Police."
Moments later officers stormed in.
The attackers were cuffed.
Dragged away.
Even as they were being pulled out, one of them shouted, "You can't stop him!"
I didn't respond.
The building was damaged.
Reception destroyed.
A few workers shaken.
But alive.
That mattered.
The police took statements.
Ambulance staff insisted on checking my leg.
"It's superficial," the medic said. "You're lucky."
Lucky.
Keifer stood beside me the whole time.
Silent.
Watching.
After the police vans drove off with the attackers, the floor went quiet.
The Section E boys gathered around.
Felix whistled softly. "We came for a visit and got an action movie."
Yuri looked at me carefully. "You fight like you enjoy it."
I didn't answer.
Keifer folded his arms. "Kaizer picked the wrong building."
Hex finally spoke, voice low. "This isn't over ."
"No," I agreed. "It's a message."
The glass doors downstairs reflected flashing police lights fading into the night.
Byte JC had been attacked.
And now we knew who was behind it.
Kaizer.
I looked at the damage.
Then at my friends.
Then at Hex.
"They wanted to scare us."
Hex's lips curved slightly. "They failed."
I exhaled slowly.
"Next time," I said quietly, "we won't just defend."
The red alarm lights finally shut off.
The building stood.
So did we.
End of Chapter. 🔥
