A warm current flowed through the hearts of Duncan and Stone.
They were even moved by the feeling of dying for a confidant.
However, Hood, the guard captain standing behind Lynn, couldn't help but twitch at the corner of his mouth.
The hand holding the guard's sword almost slipped.
Even Rodarte, the infantry commander of the Dragoon Regiment, who had been staring resolutely ahead, slowly glanced towards the corner of the tavern, his eyebrows twitching slightly.
Nobility is the epitaph of the noble, shamelessness is the motto of the shameless.
Ahem, that's not right.A shameless person, once disguised with a thick face, forgets that they were ever shameless.
Lynn struck a perfect pose, surrounded by everyone except his men from Fishermen's Port.
Everyone present
at this moment, almost universally believed Lynn to be a young nobleman of infinite grace.
A true man who had risen above petty interests and harbored lofty ambitions.
"It's rare to see such a fine nobleman. I wonder which lord he is from the Northern Territory. I wonder if he's married. My family has a twenty-year-old daughter, a flower of a girl," a patron muttered from a corner, sighing. The drinking buddy who came with him, his lips trembling slightly, finally said, "Please, let your 250-jin flower of a wife spare this young nobleman."
Behind him, a 200-jin fat guy struggled to poke his head out from the crowded throng, panting heavily like a fish about to die of thirst.
"I say, damn it, the guy in front of me, if you want to be sentimental, be sentimental, but why are you pressing on my belly?"
The drinking buddy's face flushed red, thinking to himself, "This guy is quite a match for your flower of a wife."Robert looked unwell, the bronze helmet reflecting a disturbing, yellowish-green light in the tavern's glow.
Outside, the sky was darkening, the setting sun disappearing completely below the horizon.
Night fell upon the ancient castle.
The port's nightlife began.
And the bar was a good place for the port's sailors.
Three burly men appeared at the door, arms around Essosi beauties they'd likely picked up from some brothel, and staggered into the bar.
One of the brawny sailors, swinging his thick arms, strode through the doorway first. He lowered his head, first flirting with the dark-skinned beauty in his arms.
Then he noticed the prostitute's smile change from a chuckle to a look of terror.
He snapped out of it and uneasily raised his head.
He was immediately stunned by the bizarre situation before him.
There was no time to explain.
Robert, clad in bronze armor and not knowing how to vent his rage, beheaded him with a single sword strike.
The sharp knight's sword flashed with a cold light.
His head was separated from his shoulders.
The prostitute screamed and ran towards the door. She was blocked by the two sailors and the flirtatious woman who were catching up from behind.
In a panic, she didn't know where to run.
The guard soldiers standing on either side of the door pierced her delicate body from behind with their iron spears.
Robert said coldly, "You bunch of useless, sons of bitches, you can't even guard a door."
Two more guards stepped out from beside him and dragged the bodies of the dead sailor and the woman out of the bar,
leaving a trail of scarlet blood, like a blood-red rose blooming in the darkness.Another series of screams echoed from outside.
Only then did Robert address the uncertain crowd in the tavern.
"Let's begin then, and listen to this, oh, northern noble lord's speech, and see how he connects the innocent corpse in the hall to this knight."
His voice was laced with sarcasm, and though his sword was no longer pointed at Lynn, the blood dripping from its tip seemed to point at everyone present.
This guy is crazy.
That was Lynn's first instinct.Yeah, since he didn't want to be Sir Robert of Runestone City anymore, when Lynn exposed his mask, it actually erased Robert's last trace of hesitation.
Since he was leaving anyway, Lynn didn't need to fear his identity as the local Earl's son, and Robert could also ignore the constraints that Runestone City had always placed on him.
This was perfectly reasonable.
Therefore, Lynn was a little nervous.
He hadn't brought many attendants into the city, and the other side was fully armed and blocking the entrance.
If a direct conflict broke out at this time, his side would most likely suffer.A drop of sweat trickled from his forehead, slowly flowing over his brow, sliding down his damp cheek, and rolling off his jaw onto his collar.
The warm tavern, because of the open door, was gradually invaded by the cold wind, which eroded the indoor temperature, and the air began to become icy.
Lynn tried his best to remain calm.
But the coldness uncontrollably spread across his face. So this was the power and force of the Middle Ages.
Those who held titles could raise the butcher's knife against the common people without even a moment's hesitation.
Stone and Duncan felt a little unbearable, but Lynn reached out to stop them.Lynn stepped out from behind Stone and approached Blackbeard's corpse.
Looking down at the almost congealed blood around Blackbeard's corpse, and then at Robert, who stood like the Grim Reaper at the door, he said with a cold glint in his eyes, "Hood, bring them over."
The Essos man in monk's robes and Blackbeard's accomplice, Skinny Monkey, were pushed into the center of the hall.
Without hesitation, Hood swept their legs out from under them with his scabbard.
The two fell heavily to their knees.
Lynn's chilling gaze swept across their faces."Speak! How did Sir Robert incite you to start this conflict, and how did he poison Blackbeard? Tell me, and I swear on my noble name to spare your lives, at most sending you to the Wall to become Night's Watchmen."
The two remained silent.
"Still silent? Framing a noble is a hanging offense."
"My lord, I didn't..." the skinny monkey began to explain.
But before he could finish speaking...
Smack!
Lynn slapped him hard across the face, not allowing him to argue. The skinny monkey, having been slapped twice in quick succession by Blackbeard and Lynn, couldn't hold on to his loose teeth any longer.
Several of them fell out of his mouth right then and there, leaving him with a mouthful of blood.
He covered his mouth with his hand and began to sob and whimper.Lynn straightened up. "Since you don't want to talk, I'll speak for you. You, you've been eyeing the sword at my waist since I disembarked at the port, tailing me all the way to the tavern. Then you incited Blackbeard, who was drunk, to provoke me, trying to frame me as a spy from the North.
Furthermore, you knew that two guard squads would be patrolling the bar. You hoped I would be the one arrested? Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned, so you turned on your own companion."
"Am I right?" Lynn looked at the skinny monkey, then his gaze fell on the man in the monk's robe."My lord," the Essosi said, his head bowed, his face expressionless, in broken Westerosi, "These are all your speculations. Without evidence, they prove nothing. Even a noble cannot arbitrarily accuse someone, especially since this is not your territory."
"Is that so?" Lynn retracted his gaze and smiled confidently. "I don't think so. Hood, search him. There must be some Black Death poison left on him."
