Author POV
Monday morning at Stanford University always began with the same buzz---- the chatter of excited students, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and the heavy air of deadlines and dreams.
But for jasper Jean Mariano, better knows as jay, this Monday was something different--- something life-changing that she didn't yet realize.
The large architecture lecture Hall shimmered with NYC sunlight through the glass walls. Jay sat in the middle row, twirling her pencil between her delicate finger, her sketchbook open and messy ---- lines and doodles scattered like her thought. Her hair was tied in a messy bun, strands framing her tiny face as she hummed softly under her breath.
Around her were her sever close friends---- her gang, her chaos crew.
There was clara, the stylish perfectionist with a mind like a blueprint. Noah, Jay's partner in crime and best friend, always ready to tease her. Liam, who treated architecture like art. Ethan, the quiet genius. Chris, the prankster. Luca, who always carried snacks. And finally, Daniel, the leader-type who everyone turned to when things got tough.
The eight of them were know across the department as "the dream squar" ----not just for their grade but for their chemistry. They worked like one team, one heartbeat.
And today, that heartbeat was about to speed up.
The classroom door opened, and professor Hamilton, their fav(and also the strictest) teacher, walked in holding a thick folder. His eyes gleamed with something serious.
"Good morning everyone" He said, adjusting his glasses. "I hope you're ready for some real-world experience because this semester, your team will represent Stanford in an international architecture collaboration program"
The class fell silent.
Jay blinked. Wait... International?
Hamilton continued, you eight have been selected for the Royal engineering and design exchange program---a partnership with the university of Cambridge, UK. You'll travel to the UK to work on a city redevelopment project with Cambridge top architecture and business student ".
Gasps, claps, and murmurs filled the room.
Jay froze " Wait, UK? "She whispered to clara.
Clara grinned. " London, baby! This is huge! "
But Jay wasn't just shocked----she was thrilled.
Her tiny heart raced. UK... Another country. New people new projects.
She'd grown up traveling---spain., France, America---but this... This was something different.
A new beginning. A chance to prove herself, not as someone daughter or sister, but as Jasper Jean mariano, architect in making.
Her pencil slipped out of her hand, hitting the floor, breaking her small daydream. She bent to pick it up, whispering to herself, "you got this, Jay. You're gonna make them proud.

I still couldn't process it. The UK.
I mean --- the university of Cambridge? That's huge.
As we walked out of class, my friends were literally screaming.
Clara was holding my arm, spinning me like a ballerina. "Jay, this is like... Fate! We're actually going to another country together! "
I laughed--- the kind of laugh that echoed around the hallway. "If I faint on the plane, just remind me I'm supposed to be excited, okay?"
"Deal! " Chris grinned, tossing a snack at me.
We walked toward the campus cafe, talking over each other, planning everything--- what to pack, what to wear, how to survive English weather.
But deep inside, I could feel something strange. A flutter. Like something was waiting there for me ---in that foreign place. Something... Or someone.
I shook the thought off immediately. "Nope, Jasper Jean, no boys. Just work. Project. Focus. "
I had no clue that fate was already smiling.

---- later that evening
Back at home, Jay ran into her mother's arms the moment she enter the mariano mansion. The warm golden lights of the living room reflected her excitement.
"Mom! Dad! Cece! " She yelled, dropping her bag. "Guess what! I'm going to the UK! "
Jeana, her mother, turned from the kitchen, still in her doctors coat. "What? UK? For what, baby? "
Jay jumped onto the couch, eyes glowing. "Our architecture team got selected for a project exchange! At Cambridge! "
Cece walked in from the hallway, phone in hand, smiling softly. "Well, well, my baby sissy flying to another country, huh? "
Jay nodded, beaming. "Can you believe it? UK? "
Cece chuckled and sat beside her. 'You're going to shine there, sissy. Just don't forget to eat, okay? You're still lighter than my laptop! "
"Cece?" Jay threw a cushion at her, pouting. "Not my fault I'm petiti. "
Their dad, jasfer Mariano, entered next ---talll, confident, his presence filling the room. "I heard someone's going to make her father proud. "
Jay ran to him, hugging tightly. "Always, dad. "
For the next few hours, the Mariano home was filled with laughing, planning, and chaos.
Jay's room turned into a mini travel fair --- clothes, sketchbook, stuffed toys, and half melted ice cream tubs all around.
Cece helped her pack while teasing her nonstop. "Don't charm any British boys, okay? "
"Ew, Cece! No romance! I have a project! "
"Uh-huh", cece smirked. " That's what they all say before life surprises them".
