Chapter 8 - chapter 6 the cafeteria chaos

Author POV

The clock struck 11:00 am and the corridor of Cambridge University were buzzing with life,. Laughter, chatter, and the faint sound of sneakers echoing across marble floors filled the air. Jay and her seven friends, after a long Orientation morning, decided to head to the cafeteria for a quick lunch.

Jay walked in between her friends, her tiny frame bouncing lightly, her bunny backpack swinging behind her. She looked like she belonged in a fashion magazine rather than an architecture team. Her full-sleeves pink crop top hugged her small figure, and her denim shorts showed off her slendee legs. Her hair was tied half up, half down, bangs perfectly framing her glowing face. With her radiant smile and soft laugh, she didn't even notice the whispers that followed her everywhere.

"Who's that girl? She looks so cute..."

"She's from Stanford, I heard. One of the exchange students".

"She looks like doll".

Jay rolled her eyes when she overheard some of it. Why do people always whisper? She thought. I'm not a celebrity.... I just want food.

Her friend leo laughed beside her. " Jay they're probably wondering how a 12-year-old got into university ".he teased, earning a sharp glare from her.

"Excuse me, I'm eighteen, okay?! " She said with mock pride, her hands on her hips. The boys chuckle, while her two girlfriends, clara and mica, just shook their heads fondly.

Kiefer POV

From across the cafeteria, keifer watson sat at his usual table with his teammates and friend. His tall, 190 cm frame leaned casually against the chair, his broad shoulders visible through his black fitted shirt. His presence alone made heads turn. He was that guy, that one everyone admired but few dared approach.

He didn't care much for attention. Until she walked in.

A flash of soft pink and bouncing hair caught his eyes. She was small ---- no, tiny, compared to everyone else. Her steps were light, her smile bright, and the way she carried herself, confident yet innocent, was magnetic.

Keifer dark eye followed her instinctively. Who is she? He wondered, his lips curvinv slightly. She doesn't look like the other. She's... His thought paused different.

She laughed at something her friend said, her voice soft and melodious. It was ridiculous how something so small could draw his attention this much.

Author POV

Jay and her group found a corner table and starts ordering. She leaned on the counter waiting for her iced coffee , completely unaware of the tall guy watching her from across the room.

A few minutes later, fate decided to play a mischievous game.

Keifer gott up to refill his drink, a cup of dark espresso. He wasn't paying much attention, too distracted by that same pink figure a few table away. At the same time, Jay turned around with her tray of fries and coffee.

And then, splash.

The sound of liquid hitting the floor, and her shoes, echoed like thunder.

Jay froze. She looked down to see her brand new white sneakers now splattered with dark brown coffee. Her eyes widened in dis belief before she slowly looked up.

Keifer stood there, still holding that empty cup, expression unreadable.

For a second, nobody spoke. Her friends turned, startled. The surrounding student whispered --- again.

Jay blinked once. Twice. Then ----

"Are you serious?! " She half-yelled, her voice high-pitched and adorably furious. "My shoes" She pointed down, her lips forming a tiny pout. "You ----you just ----spilled----coffee on me?! "

Keifer stared, and for the first time in years ,

He was speechless. Her angry little expression, her puffed cheeks, the way she stomped her small foot, it was all too cute.

He wanted to laugh.

But he didn't. Instead, he down slightly, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. "They're just shoes", he said calmly.

Her jaw dropped" Just---- shoes?! These are new! "

Keifer raised an eyebrow, fighting a smile. "They'll dry".

Jay gasped, glaring up at him ---- her 150 cm vs his 190 cm height difference making it look like a kid scolding a giant. " Unbelievable! You didn't even say sorry! ".

" I didn't? "Keifer asked, tone playful. " Must've slipped my mind ".

She let out a tiny growl and turned on her heel, marching bach to her friends.

Behind her, keifer couldn't hold it anymore. He chuckled softly, shaking his head.

Jay POV

That jeke! She thought angrily. Didn't even say sorry! Who does that?.

She rubbed her shoes gently, poutine the whole time. Her friends tried not to laugh.

"He was kinda cute though" Mica teased.

Jay glared. "I don't care if he's a Hollywood actor, he's still rude. "

Inside, through she could still feel that strange heat in her chest ---- part anger, part confusion. His face, his calm tone, the way he looked down at her like she was some amusing little creature, it all made her blood boil.

She didn't know his name yet.

She didn't know who he was.

But she already decided---- she hated him.

Keifer POV

He watched her leave the cafeteria later, her bunny backpack bouncing behind her again. Her anger was adorable--- the kind

that ligered in your mind long after the person left.

He smirked to himself, leaning back. "Feisty little one....." He murmured.

And without realizing it, keifer Watson --- the man who never cared about girls ---- just found someone who could mess up his calm world with one .....

To be continue...
