Chapter 5 - Lilith

'Goddammit, fated to die? What a freaking joke, I wasn't even meant to live!'

Si-eun was pissed.

It was understandable, anyone in his shoes would be pissed knowing that your entire life was just a means to an end, the craziest part was his life was just so darn pitiful that even an unhinged god decided to experiment with it.

But if anything there was also an important clarification from the description.

Azazel was just another version of himself, just from another world, that meant that if he had been born in this version of the earth he would've been born as Azazel.

The clarification made him breathe a little bit easy, this version of him had parents that loved him, even if he was a scumbag, even if this version of him had hurt them so much, it made him relieved.

Truth be told, although he didn't show it, he had been feeling a bit guilty thinking he'd replaced the soul of the real Azazel.

But that begged the question, how could his soul align with that of another when this world was just a game?

It didn't make sense and Si-eun wasn't one to ponder on things he had no way of solving so he let it go, for now at least.

He was going to have to find out sooner or later, his intuition was hinting that something bigger was at stake but it wasn't what required his attention at this moment.

Instead, his gaze flickered to the screen of his soul mirror, Specifically the extension where it mentioned 'See more.'

Without a minute's linger he pressed it, causing the soul mirror to reveal his remaining stats.

"Just how did someone with an intelligence stat of seventy percent fall prey to a kid's scheme?" Si-eun couldn't help but question loudly.

He was bewildered.

It made no sense, even in the game people with over fifty percent intelligence stat were very hard to deceive much more manipulate

"This is so confusing."

There were many theories he had that could explain the reason but only one seemed more reasonable.

The stats shown were a mix of both Si-eun's and Azazel's, since the description mentioned the harmony of souls it could be that the fusion of their souls led to whatever results the stats was showing.

With all said and done, his attention was instantly drawn to his skills.

Unlike Azazel who was lacking in both sense and talent, his family was anything but weak.

The Chaos attribute of the astavore family made them broken on an entirely different level, it was also the reason why his sister was one of the most useful heroines among the hero's party.

The Chaos attribute basically ignored the laws of reality, it could negate most attacks directed at the user, manipulate reality to a certain degree and even influence matter, it was too overpowered of an ability however it had its downside as well, but regardless, it was one of the reasons they remained a ducal family despite being hermits.

They were even notorious for their political apathy, only appearing when the kingdom was in dire need of their assistance.

Si-eun knew that the royal family couldn't touch an astavore as they pleased and now that his life was on the line, he intended to use every card in his arsenal to play.

He just needed to pass the blame to someone else and that was the role of the fourth prince.

A scapegoat.

Just thinking of it made Si-eun chuckle like a like a broken doll.

'How dare you try to take my life when the piles of gold in my father's Treasury have yet to be explored by me, if you think you've won then you're in for a damned surprise prince kyle.'

After formulating plans and backups in case his bargain failed, he finally stepped out of his room.

The Duke's hallway was grand and ancient, carrying an air of elegance only generational wealth could've produced.

Paintings explicating history lined the walls while doors made of thick mahogany wood were present on each side of the hallway.

The ceiling arched overhead in curves reinforced by tall beams while the marble floor was polished with utmost precision.

A glance at the hallway was enough to tell, the Duke's mansion was designed by a maniac obsessed with perfection.

This time of the day wasn't so busy since the maids had done all that needed to be done.

While he was busy admiring the immaculate design of the mansion a figure bumped into him.

It was a maid, quite young, who seemed to be around sixteen years of age, the same age as Azazel.

She fell on her butt with a large yelp, eyes blurring with unshed tears while the laundry basket fell from her grasp.

Si-eun stood still, watching the klutz as she timidly hurried to get up on her feet.

A flicker of surprise crossed his face but he quickly masked it with indifference as he got a better look at her.

The maid in question had pink hair cascading all the way to her butt, her eyes were a lighter shade of pink while her figure was enough to drive a man mad.

She quickly bowed her head in fear.

"Y-Young master, m-my apologies."

Si-eun on the other hand smiled in a devilish manner causing his face to contour hideously, it was a smile that could have only been invented by LLyod and the sheer creepiness of the smile made the maid go pale.

"Well well look what we have here, this is perfect, a godsent intervention to resolve my distress, you're going to have to do a little something for me." He whispered into her ear.

The maid flustered, tried to step back but he held her in place.

Her breath came out in low, subtle huffs, it was clear she was trying to suppress a grin, which didn't go unnoticed by Si-eun.

A cold chill crept up his spine but he held on, careful not to show any physical discomfort.

He knew the moment she noticed it, his edge over her would thin out.

"Y-Young master?"

"You see, Lilly, I'll need you to gather a special set of ingredients for me... they may be strange so do best not to question them." He said with a plain expression.

The maid looked to be on the verge of tears but Si-eun knew better.

This seemingly harmless girl was blessed by Lilith, the Succubus Queen.

And while she appeared harmless, she was anything but harmless, she had very questionable tendencies and was someone any sane person would've avoided but Si-eun wasn't quite alright in the head either so it worked in his favor.

'How lucky am I, if I can get someone like her to do my bidding then life would be so much easier, not to mention a significant reduction in the amount of assassination attempts I might have in the future, that's if she doesn't end me first but then again what's life without a little risk, Lily or rather Lilith, I'll make you my first pawn.'

It was the best choice he could've made considering how many people he was going to piss off in the future. Having a meat shield who could bite back was the most important thing he needed.

After giving her a list of the items he wanted, he continued moving but then stopped abruptly.

"Oh before I forget, mother and father shouldn't hear of this."

With that, he walked away, leaving the flustered maid alone in the hallway.
