Chapter 14 - Options

"Silver?" someone pointed out.

"Exactly. And she didn't have it as a child. There were old photos where her hair was dark, like her mother's." Melissa lowered her voice conspiratorially. "But after the Luna died, it changed into silver."

"No wonder everyone in the castle hates her," Harry said, placing kisses on Melissa's neck. "She's probably a bastard and a useless."

Adele had heard such whispers, but no matter how many times they were repeated, these harsh words plunged Adele into agony. She trusted and knew that her mother had been a pure and kind Luna. Her eyesight started to blur.

Adele took a step back and forced her leg to move because she didn't want anyone to see her in this state. She did not have the strength to barge in and confront them. How could she, when she herself had started to devalue herself?

Adele shrunk and scurried down to a place she didn't know where, and didn't stop until her legs gave out at a riverfront.
