[3rd POV]
Arriving at the recording studio, Billie sat in her car for a few minutes. She had to be there and inside to get ready within the next ten minutes. But, she was sitting back against her chair, breathing softly as she contemplated the idea of what this little event was going to do for her image.
She imagined that it was going to change a lot. Mostly because the Ellen Show, from her understanding at least, was watched by a lot of older folk, a majority of them being middle aged men and (primarily) women. That was an area that she did not have too much popularity in, as most of her fans were around her age or even younger. With most being teens and young adults up to around the age of 26 to 27.
Besides that, she was more so contemplating how she wanted to go about this. Because Ellen in her past life, was VERY well known for not being a good person. Being known for being...well, a bitch. Mostly because she mistreated her workers and was a terrible boss.
Speaking of boss, she decided she'd need to talk to one of her various employees. This being a manager that helped with things like this, one that she had hired after she had been approached by Ellen and her employees in the first place. The person in that new position was an older woman in her forties that she had found.
She was kind, intelligent, and had tons of experience. She was also very very adept at her job, and had even gone to college for it, as well as some other things. Having a masters degree and around 20 years of work experience. This meant that she cost a shit ton, but also made her life far easier.
It was the same with other employees she had been getting over the past couple of months. Like ones that were now handling the more annoying part of her merch, with her doing just the initial parts, and they'd be ensuring the rest of it. There was also her employees that handled the legal side of things, like making sure her music wasn't being misused and such.
She had a pretty open policy about her music, allowing it to be used in YouTube Videos and such, but all she asked was that they email about it and ask for permission. Thankfully most did, and the others were simply asked to email next time.
But those that were using her music in things that she did not want it anywhere near (like racist or sexist videos, political BS, and stuff like that) she did have taken down or had them mute the music. She did not want to hear complaints by her fans because someone else was using her music.
This was still in the early days of the internet, and social media in general. So, she had to be very careful where it was allowed and where it was banned. And she also had to be careful about not taking down videos Willy nilly. She did not want to accidentally screw over an innocent person.
She had the same done with videos that were not just on YouTube, but also on other sites, and had made sure that her music wasn't being used in advertisements without her permission. But she did allow it in advertisements she was okay with, given that they paid her the appropriate amount, of course.
It was making her some passive income, that's for sure.
Breathing out, Billie sighed as she opened the door of her car and got out. She decided it was time to stop being a wimp and began to make her way towards the entrance to the recording studio, deciding that she couldn't wait too much longer.
Walking into the entrance to the building, she was immediately met by what looked like one of Ellen's workers, who had a branded shirt on carrying the show's logo, and had slightly wide eyes when she saw her walk in.
"Oh! Hello Miss Eilish, we've been waiting for you" The woman said kindly.
"Sorry if I got here a little too close to the deadline. Traffic was...well, LA traffic, I hope I'm not too late?" Billie replied, with the woman shaking her head.
"No no, you're fine. You are actually pretty early, earlier than most at least" The woman replied, seeming to be a little annoyed when she finished. Not because of Billie herself, but because of something else.
"I'm assuming that not all celebrities are on time?" Billie asked with woman, her eyebrow raising in amusement. She was not deaf and could hear the irritation in the womans voice.
"You have no idea" The woman replied, scowling as she remembered some of the previous guests, before shaking her head as she focused back on what was important.
"A-Anyways! Follow me please, I believe Miss Degeneres is waiting for you" The woman said, as she motioned for Billie to follow behind her, which is exactly what she began to do.
The woman began to lead her towards wherever Ellen was, showing off the surroundings at the same time. While also keeping her away from the areas that the audience members would enter from, as they were not actors, and were real people. People that did not know she was there yet, and while it was public knowledge that Billie was taking part in the episode today, they did not know when or what she was going to be doing on the show.
So they wanted to keep Billie hidden, to make it more of a surpise when she eventually appeared.
"So, who were the ones that decided to be late?" Billie asked, deciding to strike up a conversation.
The woman hearing this glanced around to see if there was anyone around, and seeing as there was not, she began to speak.
"A lot of people. Like...a lot. Mostly actors though, the few singers that did come in are pretty good about being on time. But actors? Yeah, they don't seem to really care. The worst was Jennifer Lopez who had gotten here like 20 minutes late and forced us to completely change around the entire episode" The woman replied seeing as she wasn't going to get in trouble.
"Yeah that is not really surprising. I've heard some...things about her, and she just sounds like a major chore to be around" Billie said, not sugar coating her words. She remembered in her past life that some stuff had come out about Lopez, which was mostly about how she was...well, kind of a dick or as some would call her "A Diva" which was basically code word for her treating people like shit.
She was thankfully not as bad as Ellen of course, but she was still a pain in the ass to deal with. Which is why Billie was thankful that she was not in the actor or acting space in general, beyond letting her music be used in a few movies at least.
The woman couldn't help but crack a small smile upon hearing Billie's words of agreement, before they began to turn around a corner, and soon entered a large room. Where, sitting at a chair, was a blonde short haired woman, waiting for them.
This was Ellen Degeneres, host of the show.
And the woman that would be asking her questions in front of millions.
And as she began to approach the woman, she had only one thought on her mind.
'I really hope she's not as bad as my old worlds version of her'
