Did she do it
LINDSEY'S POV
My mother's two children are in boarding school and her husband is usually away for work in another town. We remained alone in the house. He sat in a sofa comfortably leaning backwards his eyes closed. My mum had told me to take care of him but since she was gone, he was on his own. I retreated to my room leaving him there. My mother texted me reminding me to take care of the guest and keep him company. She didn't know that he was actually going to sleep where she left him. I knew the time when my mother would return, that would be around six in the morning so I set my alarm to five. That would be enough time for me to prepare him to my mom's expectations. I would make him have a taste of his own medicine. I returned and peeped only to find him still in the same position. At some point I felt sorry for him but remembering what he had done to me, all the sympathy I had for him left on spot.
I woke up hearing my mother knocking my door while calling out my name but her tone was not a happy one. I checked my phone and it was still four but fifty minutes had passed. I wondered why she had returned so early.
" why is Mr. Sterling sleeping in the sofa. Didn't I clearly tell you to show him to the guest room?" My mum thundered. She was really angry.
" Mum you can clearly see that Riven and I aren't friends so why are you forcing me to do what I don't. Besides he deserves it, just that?" I decided to tell my mum clearly.
" Lindsey I am so disappointed in you, is this how I raised you, I expected you to do this because of your childish attitude but I thought you still had some respect for me. How can you leave Mr. Sterling to sleep in just a seat in my house. I really don't understand that attitude of yours but I don't expect you to treat people in such a way just because you don't like them especially in my house." My mum spoke all those words without asking me why I did what I did.
" Mum are you really scolding me because of him. You have never done this and you know me too well. I wouldn't do this for no reason." I tried to reason with my mum though I was disappointed in her already.
" All I know is that you refused to do what I told you. You are going to apologize to him. He is a nice young man." My mum complimented.
" you just don't know him well like I do!" I told my mum
" Oh so what do you know about him, tell me do you live with him or you are just talking about the fake news you hear." What my mum spoke was right, because I stayed with him yet I couldn't let her know.
" Mum, you don't know him, he is..." my mum stopped me from continuing.
" I don't want to listen to your excuses right now. Just go and apologize to him." My mum was serious, she really wanted me to apologize.
" Mum I am not apologizing to him, at least not to him." I frankly told my mum. She was really pissed and so was I.
