When we arrived at campus, I didn't want to wait for the chauffeur to open for me so I tried to open the door but I felt a hand on mine. I wondered how Riven had come so close to me. When I tilted my head to face him, my eyes locked on his. My breathing became intense, his eyes dropped to my lips then back to my face. I was vulnerable at the moment. I kept my eyes on his studying every movement they made. Then his eyeslingered on my lips like they were food that he would eat. I knew stupidity was creeping up into my mind because I was eagerly waiting for him to kiss me, that jawline of his. The air between us was ...
I turned away immediately I got back to my senses.
" Don't ever get close to me again. Am warning you." I threatened him but he made no movement.
" you are my wife,why can't I? Anyway we shall see to that at home you owe me a wedding night."he whispered to me. I pushed him away immediately.
" Jesus!!! How can you even speak that nonsense to me!! Don't even think of that. I would rather have someone else in my bed" I quickly made it clear to him.
" Get out!" He spoke looking away from me but I felt his furry and that got me a bit excited . I wish I had other ways of pissing him off. The chauffeur opened the door and when I nearly stepped out Riven held my hand."
" If you want to be at peace with me, stay away from other men." Was he really saying that to me. I didn't want to waste air on him so I ignored his nonsense and left. Wow, I was finally away from him.
I left the packing lot then headed to my class. On looking around, Stuart was not there. He could have gone for his honeymoon. I didn't have Mr. Sterling's class that day. It was Mr.Charles who was lecturing us that day. He was a man in his thirties and news had it that he had just embarked on this carrier. He was famous around campus for his looks and he was a crush of many. To be sincere,the first time he came to our class,I felt.....because of his looks a then he was smart and looked gentle. Later on I got used to him and all the stupid fantasies were gone. I had not seen him on Stuart's engagement yet most lectures and professors are there as invited by Mr. Sterling or should I say my father in-law huh!!! This life!!!
" Miss Dale are you okay." I heard my name only to realize that I had been absent minded for almost half of the session. How come he noticed that,I had taken a back seat in a corner where I could have seemed invisible.
" I am okay Sir" I spoke in a tremor.
" Then you can tell us what you have understood from what I have been explaining" the man told me and I nearly had a heart attack. I didn't know a thing because I hadn't even written anything.
" I am a bit unwell sir maybe next time." I tried to really look the statement but the way the lad looked at me.
" I think we need to talk Miss Dale. How can you be absent minded for almost half the lesson!, I will not accept this in my classes. Meet me after here." I think I am getting tastier! The way my course mates were looking at me especially Miya and Nathaniel. I knew they were going to attack me afterwards.
When that lecture was done, I snicked out of the room before my friends would find me. By the time Mr. Charles arrived his office, I was there waiting. He said nothing when he came until he opened his door and let me in.
" You are soon finishing your master's degree but then today's incident shows you are not ready." He spoke looking at me seated across the table. There was something unusual about the way he looked at me, this was not the same way he did when he usually did when I presented my research or coursework or even the first time I spoke to him. I asked for his forgiveness but he looked indifferent, I could not read his expressions.
" You even changed the seat, why did you take a back seat. Could it be that you really had feelings for Mr.Heisting ?" That shocked me. Did he just ask me that.
" I am afraid I have nothing to say about that sir." I decided to keep calm.
" I am just curious!" He was serious
" I don't think I should be discussing my personal life with my professor, sir if that was all I will take my leave." I told him and stood up to take my leave.
" Sometimes you need to open your eyes and see beyond what is obvious. Try to see us." I didn't understand that but I decided not to ask because curiosity killed the cat and I felt safer not asking what he meant. When I got out of there, It felt like I was from a lion's den.
I was free for the rest of the day as well as the next so I decided to travel so as I could check on my mother. The journey would take me around five hours and it was already two in the afternoon but I had to go as it was my only chance to escape that evil. From there I embarked on my journey to visit my mother. Ever since the Riven saga on her, I had only heard from her on phone. It was getting dark and I had not yet arrived. I got no call from Riven which was surprising. I finally arrived home but on arrival, I found three vehicles in my mother's compound , a Rolls-Royce Drop tail and two Rolls-Royce Boat tails. Who ever my mother had in the house was a big shot. I opened the door,entered the house with all excitement hoping to surprise my mother but my "my..." ended when I saw who was seated on my favorite seat in my mother's house. Seeming so comfortable sat Riven. To be sincere I felt my blood boil, my body froze in place and I could only look. I saw my mother bringing food to the dinning, when she saw me, I saw her smile which I had been missing for a long time. She opened her arms for me to hug her and I walked quickly to her embrace. She pinched my cheeks as expected and made fun of me for loosing weight.
I said nothing to Riven, just carried my bag and retreated to my room. My mum kept calling me to have my meal and I had no excuse for it. I didn't understand why my mother was behaving naturally with Riven. Thatwas strange to me. When I found him sitting at the table, I told my mother I would eat later but she insisted. The eye she gave me when I refused to eat, only God could tell what was on her mind. I needed not to pretend before my mother, i spoke no word to Riven. I behaved like the house only had me and my mother. My mum told me to take care of her guest as she was having a night shift at the hospital.
I nearly died when she told me that. I requested to go with her but she refused saying her guest couldn't stay there alone. I wished I had not visited her. She seriously left me with a man in the house. What did she know?
