"Ding! Flygon's current status is as follows:"
Pokémon: Flygon
Level: 60
Ability: Levitate
Type: Ground / Dragon
Potential: Purple
Bond Evolution: Locked
Mega Evolution: Locked
Moves: Dragon Claw, Dragon Breath, Crunch, Superpower, Earth Power, Dragon Rush, Dragon Dance…
Seeing Hunter J send out yet another Champion-tier Pokémon—and a Dragon-type at that—Aiden Flint had to admit it. As Salamence's lower-tier counterpart, Flygon was still extremely formidable.
So this Hunter J really did have some serious backing.
"Then I'll leave it to you—Aerodactyl, Mega Evolve!"
As Hunter J revealed her second Pokémon, Aiden also threw out a Luxury Ball. Brilliant light burst forth from Aerodactyl's body, and in the next instant, Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Sceptile appeared side by side.
With two Champion-level opponents on the field, Mega Evolution was the only way to fight Hunter J head-on.
"Another Mega Evolution… what even is that?"
Hunter J stared in shock. Even among regional professors, Mega Evolution was still cutting-edge knowledge. For someone like her, it was completely beyond understanding.
And with Aiden Flint showing this kind of strength, Hunter J no longer dared underestimate this suddenly appearing, seemingly unknown Trainer.
"Mega Aerodactyl, use Hyper Beam on Flygon! Mega Sceptile, Dragon Pulse—sweep Salamence!"
At Aiden's command, Mega Sceptile opened its mouth and fired a blazing blue energy wave straight at Salamence. At the same time, Mega Aerodactyl roared, feeling its terrifying power surge, and lunged straight toward Flygon.
Seeing this, Hunter J barked angrily, "Salamence, Dragon Rush! Flygon, Dragon Breath!"
Salamence erupted in roaring Dragon-type energy, a spectral dragon wrapping around its body as it charged straight toward Sceptile.
But before its attack could fully form, Mega Sceptile's Dragon Pulse slammed into Salamence head-on.
With a painful roar, Salamence was blasted back. Yet as a Champion-tier Pokémon, it refused to fall. Fueled by rage, its aura flared, and it forced its way through the Dragon Pulse, still charging toward Sceptile.
Aiden immediately shouted, "Wait until it gets close—then use Dragon Tail! Power it up!"
Mega Sceptile's eyes narrowed as its massive tail gathered force.
Boom!
Dragon Tail crashed down, smashing Salamence out of the air and sending it flying.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, Mega Aerodactyl surged forward with unstoppable momentum. Flygon's Dragon Breath struck first, but the spiraling power of Hyper Beam completely nullified it.
The next instant, Mega Aerodactyl slammed into Flygon.
Flygon was sent hurtling downward, and Hunter J was thrown from the sky along with it.
Aiden was about to have Aerodactyl finish her when the system suddenly chimed.
"Ding! The host is facing a critical decision. The following options are now available:
Option One: Use Sceptile and Aerodactyl to defeat Hunter J and hand her over to the Pokémon League. Gain Aura Power and receive rewards from the League.
Option Two: Use any Pokémon to kill Hunter J and wipe out her organization. Gain the Power of Viridian. This will draw the attention of both the Hunter network and the Pokémon League.
Option Three: After defeating Hunter J, capture her and prepare to form your own faction. Gain Psychic Power."
Aiden froze.
Defeat, kill, or subdue—three choices, three completely different futures.
Under normal circumstances, with his current strength and connections, Aiden was a model League Trainer. He was on good terms with both Champions Steven Stone and Wallace, had crushed Drake, was recommended by Professor Birch, and had ties with Professor Oak, Professor Juniper, Professor Elm, Professor Rowan, and Professor Kukui. Even Gym Leaders held him in high regard.
Logically, he should turn Hunter J over to the League and earn Aura Power and official rewards.
But then he remembered…
He had once handed Team Rocket's Ariana and Proton to Officer Jenny—only for them to be released later.
And in both the anime and the manga, corrupt forces existed inside the League itself. Some even claimed that many Gym Leaders and Elite Four members in Kanto were secretly working for Team Rocket.
Putting everything in the League's hands was risky.
After a long silence, Aiden made his decision.
He was already strong enough. Why should he forever be a pawn of the League?
A Champion was nothing more than their strongest enforcer.
Better to build his own power. If there were things he couldn't do openly, his own organization could handle them.
Advance when possible, retreat when necessary—at least he'd always have a way out.
And compared to Aura Power, Psychic Power and Viridian Power were far more practical. After all, Aura was mostly tied to Pokémon like Lucario.
"System, I choose Option Three. Subdue Hunter J and build my own faction."
"Ding! Choice confirmed. Psychic Power acquired. As this power is granted directly by the system, it is automatically raised to maximum level. For reference, this is equivalent to Mewtwo's psychic strength."
Aiden: "???"
"So… I'm basically beyond a Pallet Town rookie now? On par with Mewtwo's psychic power? That's literally turning me into a human Legendary Pokémon."
