Thessian's jaw tightened. "You're right," he admitted. "I'd probably try to convince you to stay. But I wouldn't force you. Not again. I'm done forcing you to do anything."
Liora studied his face, looking for deception. Found only exhaustion and something that might have been genuine remorse.
She got in the car.
Thessian closed her door carefully, as if she were made of glass, then walked around to the driver's side. He settled into his seat, adjusted the mirrors, and put the vehicle in drive.
They left the garage through a back exit that led directly onto a side street, avoiding the main entrance where pack members might see them leaving together.
She couldn't even try to run given a chance, because what was she? At least with him, she would be safe, running was like falling into deeper traps.
